Blackwell’s Christmas signing – that’s a wrap for my 2019 events!

Yesterday was my last signing event of 2019 – and it was a wonderful way to say goodbye to what’s been the most fantastic year for me. I visited Blackwell’s Oxford Westgate branch to celebrate Top Marks for Murder winning Blackwell’s Children’s Book of the Year 2019.

I met fans, I signed lots of copies of my books and I was even presented with a framed certificate to commemorate my win!… Read more

December 2019 Top Marks for Murder events!

Detectives, there are just TWO more chances to meet me and get your Murder Most Unladylike books signed in 2019.

On Saturday 7th December I’ll be at Round Table Books in Brixton Village, London. This is a slightly unusual event for me, as I’ll be there for the shop’s normal business hours (approximately 10am-6pm – but please do call ahead to check if you’re coming from a long way away, as they sometimes close a little early).… Read more

November update video

Hello detectives! This month’s video is shorter than usual, because I’ve been working so hard on Murder Most Unladylike Book 9! I give you a run-down of my editorial process (and explain why the book isn’t publishing until August 2020, even though I’ve finished the first draft), and also tell you a bit more about the Cream Buns and Crime audio.… Read more

Announcement: Cream Buns and Crime is getting its own audio edition!

We’ve got a treat for you this Christmas! Cream Buns and Crime, my Murder Most Unladylike series companion, is finally coming out in audiobook on Boxing Day, the 26th December 2019!

This is something that people have been requesting for a long time – but of course, it’s not as simple to record as my full-length Murder Most Unladylike Mysteries because Cream Buns and Crime is a mixture of short stories, essays, quizzes and recipes.… Read more

Top Marks for Murder is Blackwell’s Children’s Book of the Year 2019!

My first full-time job in books was as a Blackwell’s Broad Street Oxford bookseller in 2010-11. I remember how overwhelming it felt to realise that I was actually being paid to talk about (and unpack, and shelve, and sell) books all day long. It’s been almost ten years since I worked there, but I still miss it sometimes, and I still feel like part of the Blackwell’s family.… Read more

Murder Most Unladylike is one of the 10 Best Children’s Books of the Decade!

CulturedVultures.com has created a list of its 10 favourite children’s books of the 2010s – and Murder Most Unladylike made the cut! Alice Thomas says:

Stevens takes all the best bits of Blyton and gives it a hearty dose of sass, humour and murder for good measure. It’s an excellent first book that leaves you craving more adventures from Daisy and Hazel, the founding members of the Wells and Wong Detective Society …

I’m so pleased to see my first book on this list – it’s up there with some of my own favourite children’s authors and books, so this is a real honour!… Read more
