New video: Murder Most Unladylike 9 update!

A lot of you have been asking about Murder Most Unladylike 9, so I thought I’d give you a quick update video about it! The most important news is that it ABSOLUTELY WILL still be coming out on the 6th August 2020 in the UK and Ireland (pre-order it at Blackwell’s, Waterstones, Amazon or your local indie if they’re open at the moment) and I WILL be able to reveal the cover and title at the beginning of May.… Read more

Writing Prompt Mondays: Prompt 5

It’s Week 5! As always, your responses to Week 4’s prompt were fabulous. Everything from Sylvia Plath to Hogwarts to Taylor Swift – that’s the best thing about fiction, it’s as unique as the people writing it! I particularly loved Annie’s serial killer take on La Belle Dame Sans Merci, and Inaya’s beautiful story inspired by The New Colossus.… Read more

Writing Prompt Mondays: Prompt 4

Welcome to Week 4 of my writing prompts, Detectives! Again, thank you so much for your amazing, enthusiastic responses to Week 3. I love seeing how creative you’re being with these prompts! Lydia’s lyrical entry from the perspective of an actress arriving in LA, Lilla’s hilarious diary of a mint plant and Xydel’s very smart diary of Alexa caught my eye this week, but it was so hard to choose – everyone who submitted entries should feel so proud of themselves.… Read more

Bel’s vampire representation story made me laugh out loud, and Esme’s updated Arachne myth was so clever. I’m also thrilled by how positive and friendly you’re being.… Read more

Video: writing a diary!

Hello Detectives,

I hope you’re all OK! I’ve made a video all about writing a diary – why you might want to do it right now, why I think it’s better to imagine your diary as research than as a story you’re telling and why it’s important to record what’s happening to you.… Read more
