Sometimes loving someone means letting them go.
After allowing Alexander James to walk out of her life, Elyssa Hart falls into a dark spiral of deception, submission, and grief. In Alex’s absence, the determined Oliver Prescott has the opportunity to win over Elyssa’s affections. But, when untimely events bring Alex back from New York sooner than expected, Oliver soon realizes that battles of the heart are not easily won.
Coming home to an empty house, an empty heart, and a constant reminder of heartache is just the tip of Alex’s troubles. He not only has to vie once again for Elyssa’s heart, but also show her a sense of security that’s been destroyed. Can he rebuild the foundation they built before he left or has he lost her for good?
Alex’s return coupled with Oliver’s advances has Elyssa not only stuck in a triangular love affair, but caught in a web woven so tight by Arianna Salerno. Alex’s past, constant threats, and a relentless watchful eye are only a few tools in Arianna’s bag of torture as she pushes Elyssa further and further away from the only man she’s ever loved.
“God, I’ve missed you,” his voice quivers as his mouth runs along the curve of my neck. “I’ve thought of you every second since I left.”
“Shhh…Alex…don’t speak. Just kiss me.” I grip the back of his head, forcing his lips to mine. I relish this moment of perfection knowing it’s only for tonight.
Seeing Alex in the lobby of the hotel was a blessing and a curse. No words exchanged, just a look. One look was all it took and the moment our eyes met the weeks of isolation and avoidance vanished. Moments with Oliver were a distant memory and all I wanted was him. The electricity between us unquestionable, my legs moved before my mind could catch up. And by that time I was already in Alex’s arms. I don’t even remember how we got to his room, but the moment we were behind closed doors our reunion turned pornographic.
Lifting me, Alex pins me against the wall, hands traveling up my thighs pushing up my skirt, fingers digging painfully into the skin of my ass. A moan escapes my lips before taking his mouth, sucking on his bottom lip, teasing his tongue with mine. With a deep growl, Alex brushes his fingers against my aching core before ripping my panties, discarding them to the floor.
His fingers find my wet core and my body immediately begins to tremble when they glide along my folds. After weeks without him, my body reacts to his absence by grinding against his strong hand.
“Alex…” I moan, running my tongue along the stubble of his chin.
“I fucking love you…” he growls as his nails dig deeper into my skin.
My heart swells with emotion at his simple words. I bite my bottom lip while Alex focuses on my breasts. Pulling down the neck of my blouse he pushes down the top of my bra, exposing my nipple. He takes it into his mouth, sucking aggressively, moaning against my flushed skin.
“Say it. Even if you have to lie to me…say it.”
Closing my eyes, I tip my head back breathing in his musky scent and feel the rising pleasure with each lap of Alex’s hot tongue against my sensitive skin. “What Alex…I’ll say anything just please, please don’t stop…”
Lifting his head from my rising chest, I sigh in disappointment from the lost warmth of his mouth. As I look into his eyes I see the torture of the past couple of weeks reflected back at me. I’ve hurt him, I’m hurting him now, but I can’t stop. This feels right. Leaning in, Alex softly kisses my lips before resting his forehead against mine. So tender my heart splinters. “Tell me you still love me. I don’t know what’s going on in your head, but I need to hear it.”
“Hey…” I reach up grasping the sides of his face forcing him to look at me. “It’s not a lie. I don’t have to lie. I do love you. I know it seems like…” my voice trails off as Alex interrupts me, his mouth crashing down on mine.
“That’s all I wanted to hear. I don’t care about anything else.” Alex pushes himself against me as we both eagerly undo his belt. Lifting my legs, I dig the heels of my feet against his jeans, pushing down his pants, bringing his boxers along with them. Within seconds he’s deep inside me and all the stress from the past few weeks have completely vanished.
I love him and I’ll live in this for as long as I can.

True love makes itself known in silence.
If you can just sit with someone, not say a word and not feel absolutely mortified or desperate to saying something, anything, to cover up the silence… then… well, it would be easy to love that person. :)

Kalen’s throne is his saddle, his crown is the dirt on his brow, and his right to rule is sealed in the blood that stains his hand. Few know the truth about the one-armed Rift King, and he prefers it that way. When people get too close to him, they either betray him or die. The Rift he rules cares nothing for the weak. More often than not, even the strong fail to survive.
When he’s abducted, his disappearance threatens to destroy his home, his people, and start a hopeless and bloody war. There are many who desire his death, and few who hope for his survival. With peace in the Six Kingdoms quickly crumbling, it falls on him to try to stop the conflict swiftly taking the entire continent by storm.
But something even more terrifying than the machinations of men has returned to the lands: The skreed. They haven’t been seen for a thousand years, and even the true power of the Rift King might not be enough to save his people — and the world — from destruction.
EXCERPT
“Be welcomed to the Spire of the Eternal, Breton, Guardian of the King. What do you seek?”
“Knowledge and advice,” he admitted, unable to stop from frowning. “Is Crysallis here?”
“My sister walks the world. I may be young, but perhaps I can help?” Asaleese cocked her head to the side. Without looking away from him, she reached up and threw back the hood of her cloak to reveal her short-cropped, black hair. “Come, and be as one of us for as long as you can.”
Breton shoved his hand in his pocket and pulled out the pouch he’d taken from the corpses on the plains. “Do you know of the outsiders?”
“I did know of them. You will be pleased, I think, to learn that their voices do not pollute the song of our ancestors. One remains, but flees up the trails in fear of the one who follows. I feel for their horses, wretched though they might be. I do not think he will find them worthy.”
“He?”
Instead of replying, the witch gestured for him to follow. Stairs circled the entry niche’s walls to vanish through a hole far above.
Breton swallowed back a sigh and began to climb. “I haven’t seen Crysallis in quite a while.”
“She wanders far,” Asaleese replied.
“It seems like a rather contagious disease. I don’t suppose you have a cure for it, do you?” Breton asked in a dry tone.
“You’ve been keeping company with Maiten again, haven’t you?”
“Not for half a year or more. He’s in Mithrias.”
“He’ll be disappointed to learn of all of the excitement he has missed, then.” Asaleese guided him to the next level and sprawled on a stone bench covered with pillows. A thick carpet of furs covered the stone, and another bench lined the far wall. “Sit. Be comfortable. A drink? Perhaps I can tempt you with some Hessis for when we’ve finished talking about what has brought you up here.”
“I might be tempted,” Breton admitted, flashing the witch a smile. “It may be a while until we cross paths again.”
“Then allow me to give you a fitting farewell until we meet again. I, for one, will miss your skill in the spearing caves.” Asaleese sighed. “Do try not to get yourself killed chasing after that foal of yours.”
“And here I thought you’d miss me for other reasons,” Breton replied, feigning disappointment.
“We’ll discuss this at length — later. Surely that pouch isn’t all that brought you up the Eternal Spire?” The witch held out her hand. Breton dropped the pouch into her palm and sat on the floor beside her.
“It did, in part. What’s in it?”
“You haven’t opened it?”
Breton shook his head. “They had poisoned their weapons.”
“What do you think is within?”
“The Three Sisters,” Breton replied with a cringe. “I was hoping it wasn’t.”
“You’re wise not to open it then.” Asaleese slipped a finger under the string tying the pouch closed and opened it. Three sachets fell out into the palm of her other hand. “It seems your guess may have been correct.” Setting two of the smaller pouches aside, she opened the third and dipped her finger in. She lightly touched the white powder to the tip of her tongue. “Vellest. It seems it is as you feared.”

Book Blitz : Can't Go Without by Angelisa Stone
Book Title: Can’t Go Without (Oasis Waterfall, #2) Author: Angelisa Stone Genre: Contemporary New Adult Romance Release Date: March 1, 2014Hosted by: Book Enthusiast Promotions
“What’s the one thing you can’t go without?”
Tristan O’Donnell has money, women, and all the luxuries that cold hard cash can buy. Tristan’s been sucking sunshine right from the monogrammed silver spoon his life was served up on since the day he was born. And quite frankly, he wouldn’t want it any other way. He’s his mother’s pride and joy, his father’s right-hand-man, and the envy of every guy around. All Tristan has to do is flash his million dollar smile, give his trademark wink, and he gets what he wants, when he wants, anytime he wants.
Leah Franchetti grinds her fingers to the bone; sculpting, painting, recreating treasures from trash—the very sentiment that defines her life. Her inventive, vindictive, lucrative, and seemingly unforgivable plan allowed her to shortcut her way into the life she always imagined, owning an art gallery, surrounding herself in the comfort of her passion and dreams.
When circumstances force Leah and Tristan to come face-to-face with the past and with Leah’s devious manipulation, truths come flooding forth, destroying those in the present and possibly jeopardizing both of their highly anticipated futures.
Can Tristan overcome Leah’s slander and deception—despite how dangerously close he comes to losing the one thing he can’t go without—money? Will Leah be forced to come clean, knowing she’ll have to live her life with the one thing she can’t go without—her dignity?
Rushing out of Chet O’Donnell’s office, angrily and haughtily, I face-plant straight into a strong, hard chest, covered in a wool, cable-knit sweater, smelling of expensive cologne. People always say that the sense of smell is the most powerful sense, triggering memories and feelings clearer than any of the other four senses combined. Just one smell, one inhalation of that warm, sexy designer cologne and my insides burn, ignite with intense desire and longing. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. No. No. No.
“I’m…I’m…I’m…” I stammer, backing up, dropping my head, and looking straight at the ground in humiliation.
“I’m…I gotta go,” I mumble, sidestepping out of his way, and heading straight for the elevator. I push the button repeatedly, knowing damn well my actions won’t speed up the elevator’s arrival.
Tristan runs to catch me, just as I eye the stairwell and bolt for the door. “Leah! Wait!” he yells; the “wait” is muffled by the sound of the door slamming behind me. I run down only one flight of steps and escape onto the twentieth floor, knowing that Tristan O’Donnell would chase me the entire way down the stairs—if seeing and talking to me were his goals. Tristan O’Donnell always gets what he wants. Always.
Hoping that Tristan doesn’t check the video monitors, I walk down the hallway to the other set of stairs and down to the first floor, exiting O’Donnell Industries. Once I hit the street, the winter sun reflecting off the snow burns my eyes. I squint at the pain of the brightness, knowing the sting of my tears has nothing to do with the shining, searing light.

GUEST POST & BOOK BLITZ: RESISTANCE BY JENA LEIGH

Jena, on Creating Characters for the Variant Series
When I sat down to write the story of Alexandra Parker and her strange, Variant-filled world, I realized fairly quickly that the novel would be just as much about Alex, as it would be about her newfound friends.
At first, Revival (the first novel in the series) had no plot. Not even a rough outline. There was no destination for the story and there were no real characters to speak of. All I knew about the book that Revival would eventually become was a single moment, pulled from a scene that takes place a few chapters into the tale—an image of a young girl running through a burning bookstore, a wall of flames licking at her back as she fled down the aisle with no way out.
I didn’t know who Alex was, back then… but I knew a lot about the guy she’d find waiting for her at the top of that black spiral staircase in the far corner of the store.
Declan O’Connell—the blonde-haired, blue-eyed jumper who was equal parts bad boy and smartass—was a character I’d been forming in my mind for a long, long time, but had yet to find a home for. Going into the project, Declan was the only character that I knew inside and out. Or at least, the only one I thought I knew.
As the story progressed, Declan’s character grew and matured in my mind, pieces of his backstory falling into place and revealing the source of his bad attitude and surly disposition. By the time I wrote the last page of Revival, I understood Declan in a way I never could have imagined during those opening chapters.
The truth is, I don’t create my characters so much as discover them as I work their stories onto the page.
All of the characters in the Variant series came to me in varying forms of completeness. A name here, a face there, a quirk or two to distinguish them, an important bit of backstory that forever changed their life or altered their personality… And often, I didn’t know what a characters would do or say in a situation until I’d put them in that situation and let the character speak for herself.
In the case of Declan’s younger sister Kenzie, I had a crystal clear image of her physical appearance before I even decided on her name. In fact, her name was chosen because it was the only name I could think of that fit the picture in my head.
But Kenzie’s personality?
Well, I think it’s fair to say that I was not expecting the girl who eventually showed up on the page. Kenzie was a pleasant surprise, but a surprise nonetheless. My early thoughts about the girl she might turn out to be ended up completely different from the caffeine-addicted teen that eventually worked her way into the story.
For me, that journey of discovery—of learning to understand my characters better as the story progresses—is one of my favorite things about writing. By allowing the characters to develop naturally, I’m just as surprised as the reader is by who and what they eventually turn out to be. It’s an enjoyable process and something I honestly can’t get enough of. The further into the Variant series I get, the better I get to know these characters—and the more I grow to love them.
Synopsis:
Alexandra Parker might be the most powerful Variant the world has ever seen—but even that won’t get her out of finishing her junior year of high school.
The challenge of keeping her abilities under wraps during class is daunting enough, but throw one surly, sandy-haired Jumper into the mix, and things can get downright complicated.
Declan’s new job? Watch over Alex while she’s at school and do everything in his power to keep her from losing control. But as sparks of every kind begin flying between Alex and her new bodyguard, she’s left feeling more unstable than ever.
When avoiding her abilities results in a surprise visit from her parents’ killer, Alex’s worlds collide with a bang that nearly levels Bay View High.
With her freedom now squarely in the Agency’s crosshairs, Alex will be faced with the fight of her life… and a decision that could forever alter the course of her destiny.
