This is one tough allowance contract!

When I was a kid, the only allowance I got was that I was "allowed" to live at home. :)  (Via.)

Why yes, I DO want to see a flying Great White Shark

"This amazing shot shows a shark attacking a seal decoy. Great Whites hunt seals by coming from the deep at high speed and hitting the seal out of the water. The sharks speed is enough to lift the seal and itself often weighing over a 1000 kg straight out of the water. This video captures this action clearly in Table Bay, the biggest breeding ground of Great White sharks in the world."

Just another quiet day on the farm

In 1962, Jim Meads took this photo of a crashing jet prototype (the English Electric Lightning F1) in England. As for the tractor driver, he's 15-year-old Mick Sutterby. He'd just told the photographer to move on, because he shouldn’t be so close to the airfield. The pilot landed in a greenhouse and survived. (The jet wasn’t so lucky.)

Which of these books has the "oddest" title of the year?

The Oddest Book Title of the Year (a.k.a. the Diagram Prize) has a strong field of nominees this year. Which of books will inherit the title from 2013’s winner, Goblinproofing One's Chicken Coop? The nominees:
How to Poo on a Date
Working Class Cats: The Bodega Cats of New York City
Pie-ography: When Pie Meets Biography
Are Trout South African?
The Origin of Feces

One of the people running the contest says, “Working Class Cats will appeal to the great mass of people who spend their days watching cat videos on the internet when pretending to work, [while bakers] will be thrilled by Pie-ography’s inclusion. And we have two books about poo.”
YAY!
