Mid-month check-in
I’ve written or edited everyday but Sundays this month so far.
And that’s great, but this is one of those weeks where I’ve been a little unfocused.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m doing really well on my benchmarks to meet this month’s goal word count, and I’m on-deadline with everything I’ve set up for myself… or at least not technically behind (yay for giving myself leeway!)
But I’ve worked on

Reading slump
It happens every once in a while: I go strong with reading,
I get some awesome books into my brain, and then… I just can’t be bothered.
My TBR pile is teetering, threatening to collapse on top of
me and bludgeon me to death (there are some seriously thick hard covers in
there).
I am behind on my reading goals.
But you know what….
That’s okay.

Out Today: The Bed Moved, Lazaretto
The Bed Moved by
Rebecca Schiff
The audacious, savagely funny debut of a writer of
razor-sharp wit and surprising tenderness: a collection of stories that gives
us a fresh take on adolescence, death, sex; on being Jewish-ish; and on finding
one’s way as a young woman in the world.
A New Yorker,
trying not to be jaded, accompanies a cash-strapped pot grower to a “clothing

Check in
The first real week of April is over and I am exhausted.
Long nights putting in higher word counts means that I’ve
met my first deadline for a draft, but it’s not quite over yet. I’ve got a
break neck pace for revisions that started yesterday so I can hand a book off
for edits.
Anyone who thinks writing is a leisurely pursuit is not taking the same route I
am.
Sadly, I don’t know that

IWSG: Am I Writing In The Wrong Genre?
I’ve been self-publishing since July of 2013 and though I’ve
always called myself a speculative fiction author, up until this year, I’ve
only published Science Fiction novels and short stories.
In February, that changed.
I put out the first in a series of Clockwork Fairytale
novellas. Something interesting happened.
They began to sell with a level of success that I hadn’t
seen in

If your map is crazy big (like mine was) you may need to
deal with that. In my case, I took a picture of the whole map and then I popped
