The original French version of the book was published in 2010. Itwas born out of creative workshops offered to Grade 8 immersion students atElsie Mironuck School in Regina, Saskatchewan. The novel, which the author haspresented at festivals, book fairs, and schools across the country, wasshortlisted for a Saskatchewan Book Award in 2013. Over the years, the book hasbeen reprinted, and a second edition was issued last year. The story
One summernight, Ethan and four friends, heading north of Spiritwood, Saskatchewan, for aweekend of camping to watch the northern lights, instead end up in the ditchwhen their car swerves off the road. The teenagers head back to Spiritwood onfoot, but a severe thunderstorm strikes before they reach the town, forcingthem to break into an abandoned country school to take shelter. They pass thetime telling scary stories until they fall asleep. When they wake a few hourslater, the storm is over, and the sky is filled with brightly coloured northernlights.

Why did you write yourlatest book?
Iwrote my Creative Career Planning Workbook because I wanted to give back to thewriting community who helped me on my way up.
Dozens,if not hundreds of authors have given me advice. Recently, while mentoring anauthor, I realized that I could put some of what I learned down in a book toshare with others.
I'vetaken my own creative way of thinking and cobbled together a book aboutidentifying your idea of success and how to build the steps to get there. Itincludes charts, questions, diagrams, and doodle pages to set your imaginationfree.
Mostimportantly, there is joy in giving back to the writing community.
Iwrote my latest romance because I can't help myself. I'm a sucker for a greatlove story and when they come to me, I have to put them down on paper.
Whatwould you say your strengths are as an author?
Mystrengths as an author include being able to write a heartwarming story thatleaves a positive impact on my readers.
Iwrite darn good dialog and realistic male characters.
Whatwould you consider to be the best compliment a reader could give your book?
Thebest compliment I could get from a reader is that I touched their heart or gavethem hope.

What are you working on now?
Right now, my primary focus is working on book 4 of my Heart's Haven series.This one is Nick's story, he's a jokester who falls for a very serious militaryveteran. She steals his heart and falls for him against her better judgement.
I'malso working on a nonfiction book about my life in rural Alberta and some ofthe redneck things I've done and seen.
Asalways, I have at least a dozen books I'm working on at all times. I switchbetween them when I get stuck on my primary project.
Which books and authors doyou read for pleasure? Is there an author that inspires you?
Pleasurereading. Oh gosh, this is a tough one. I love Jennifer Snow, Roxy Boroughs,Jessie Gussman. Diane Bator, A.M. Westerling, and Kelly Moran. Honestly, sinceI read for at least an hour every day, I have more favorite authors than Icould possibly name. For Sci-Fi, I love Robert Heinlein. For dragons, AnneMcCaffrey. I've recently discovered new author Audrey Karnes who writes areally cute com-com.
How many unpublished andhalf-finished books do you have?
I haveabout twenty finished books that will never be published. They're just too bad.I read them and wonder what in the world I was thinking.
I alsohave about a dozen books I'm actively working on. This includes a life planningworkbook, two poetry volumes, a book about building positivity in your life, awhack of romances, two cozy mysteries and some books on spirituality. Mycomputer memory is burdened with dozens of files of story idea's I've writtendown but haven't gotten to yet.
Yes,my mind wanders. A lot.

About Nzondi
Nzondi is also the first African-American to win the most prestigious award in horror for a novel category, the Bram Stoker. “Teenage RockStarr” was inspired by a character in Nzondi’s upcoming vampire book called “Demons for Hire”.
In September 2022, Nzondi made the front cover for the Opal and E.G.O. magazines as the Author of the Month and “A Global Sensation” respectively.
