A Star (Haiku)

Stars, aplenty, shine,

all because of your brightness—

everybody, look!

Blessings.

Tend (Haiku)

The flower and I,

we tend to one another

just like you and I.

A Blade of Green (Haiku)

A blade of green calls,

“Don’t forget me, sun! I’m here!”

And so the rain falls.

Blessings.

Bewildered (Haiku)

When the snowflake shines,

it doesn’t look bewildered

staring at the sun.

Beyond Me (Haiku)

What’s all this I see

breathing for eternity?

Something beyond me.

Enroll (A Poem)

We enrolled together,

you and I.

That’s why we met,

it’s why we’re together.

Like enrolling on the same course,

but sitting at opposite ends of the room,

with thousands of kilometres between us.

But we enrolled,

that’s the main thing,

that’s why we met,

it’s why we’re together.

Sometime during the course—

the study of you and I,

I think it was called—

we both had a break,

and wandered around the room,

for thousands of miles,

(well, you did, I stayed close to my desk)

and we bumped into each other.

That’s how we met,

and it’s why we’re together,

because we enrolled.

*

Blessings.

Earthquake Test (A Poem)

The earth shook beneath me,

first making my desk creak,

and then my apartment.

I’ll never get used to them.

For the first second or so,

I always think it’s my imagination.

It’s like I’m all of a sudden on a waterbed;

the whole world on a waterbed.

I feel drunk in an instant.

It happened the other night,

which is why it’s fresh in my mind.

6.1.

Not small,

but not massively dangerous either.

A part of me wanted it to last longer.

The earth is talking to me,

entrusting me with something worthwhile and meaningful.

Intimacy.

I felt connected to her,

like I do in a storm – but an earthquake is different.

When she shakes my foundations,

she’s forcing me to listen;

grabs me by the shoulders,

looks me directly in the eyes.

She’s serious.

“Do I have to scare you,” she says,

“in order for you to believe I’m living?”

“I’m afraid so.”

Blessings.

Rather Be (Haiku)

I would rather be

Creature (Haiku)

To see a creature

for the first and final time

is to see yourself.

A Writer’s Quest – Part 2

*Note: This post will only make sense to you if you read Part 1 first.

*

The good lady showed up!

I’ve written 913 words (when my intention was 750). I was going to continue, but I said in Part 1 I was going to report back to base at a specific time, so here I am.

She showed up!

My muse whispered sweet somethings in my ear, and I typed away.

God that feels good.

When people ask me why I write, I know they haven’t felt that wave of euphoria that comes with having a sweet peck on the cheek from their muse.

That elated feeling that comes with knocking back a shot of inspiration.

Being tuned in.

When everything’s just that ahhhh feeling.

Superb.

Being a writer is great.

It’s damn hard, but it’s great.

Now then, let’s see if she visits me tomorrow.

Thanks for reading
