The most amazing invention of our time
Every time I fly I'm not afraid like most people that we'll crash, I'm afraid that we won't take off, especially when I see the size of carry- ons and the luggage that is hauled. In my physically challenged mind I still don't understand how a 660,000 lb (299,370 kg) machine (and that's only a Boeing 777) can overcome so much drag and be able to climb to 35,000 feet. It amazes me. I'm almost like a little child in wonder when we lift off. For all the travelling I've done and I do make it a point to rack up the miles because I love it so much, but every time, every single time I am spellbound. Maybe getting to my destination is not as much fun as much as the joy of getting to the sky.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not a die hard biologist but right in school I understood most of Physics, speed, light, sound, gravity but throw in vectors, displacement, velocity and boy it would annoy me -ALOT. And for the life of me I didn't know why we need to be bothered about the speed at which the train travels or what is the angle between the tree and the pole. I didn't really see its practicality.
Now when I'm on an airplane I'm so glad that somebody does know how to calculate that stuff and apply it.
When I read about why the shape of a plane is so, why a delay happens because of a technicality, how planes have to be driven with feet while on the ground and hands in the air, the angle of attack, the altitude, the thrust, the drag.... its a science in itself which impresses me greatly.
With thousands of flights everyday taking off, we don't think about what a safe and beautiful machine an airplane is- so earth defying, so breath taking and so perfect.
If you want to read a little more about it - take a look at this.
From the mirror
As world cup madness descends I wish you all a wonderful week. The other day I watched the penalties on a TV in the street in front of a giant screen with strangers of different nationalities. It was so much fun that for a few minutes we were united for soccer in the street nonetheless. That was a first for me.
Enjoy the game people.
Song on my playlist now: Walking in Memphis by Cher
Movie I recommend: Philomena, absolutely heart wrenching, Dame Judy Dench at her finest

Weather worn
Boy this has been a whirlwind summer. I've been 'too busy' to put up a post. And for the last month or so I frankly have no idea, how I got busy or what it was that I was truly doing. You see that liquor ad on TV where the guy says 'we soon become our parents.'
And that can happen to the best of us. You wake up, go to work, earn your paycheck, come home and eat and head back to sleep. If you're doing more than that any day of the week then kudos to you.
The weather out here is baking, hope you're fine there in Germany with the rain.
I hear Prague, the Middle East and the US is baking hot, out here we're crying out for rain. Funny enough in today's reading, Elijah says no rain for the next few days, but the meal and the jar of oil will not run out.
Prophecy? I hope not, because if it does not rain in the next few days I'm going to go crazy.
I'm glad that Rafa won, and I am looking forward to the world cup. Soccer fever is rising.
Here is a look at a few poster for the world cup. It was featured on Yahoo and has been around quite a bit. The artist has done a good job. Whether you root for the Azurri or La Furia Roja. You're going to like all of these posters.
Take a look here. The rest are on ESPN's blog.

Enjoy the World Cup. I wish I could go to Brazil for this....
On my playlist now: A la Nanita Nana
Few days more to kickoff..... :)

Writing tour
First up a big thank you to Neelima for tagging me along her writing process tour. Her book Unsettled- is like I tweeted- love in poetry. And I must say that ever since I've known her, which was post our launch at Indireads, she has been supportive and kind even over my most trivial stupidities. So thanks Neel for the tag. You can tweet her @neelthemuse.
Part of the tour involves answering the questions below and I will try answering them without putting anyone to sleep.
What am I working on?
I'm working. Phew.
But yes I'm also writing. Writing the first draft of a short story. While plotting out what my next manuscript should be. Short stories for me have done pretty well. And its easier for me to be succinct than spin something novel length.
How does my work differ from others of its genre?
My work is all encompassing. I write with a lot of references to culture. You must have seen that with my short stories and novella 'Seoulmates.'That's what brings magic to the setting. And i like the process of discovery of a new location or how a culture unfolds.
Why do I write what I do?
Because I Love to.(smiles) I write these things because I don't want to forget the dream I've seen or the characters I've woven or the places I've visited in the realm of my imagination. I feel I can change our people's perceptions by writing. Others feel they can do by doing ground breaking research or becoming activists. For me I feel by writing I cane make a difference.
How does my writing process work?
My process is basically writing from the hip and it works in some ways because it lets me be completely creative. I've tried storyboards and spreadsheets but I feel limited with plot lines and rules. In a way I feel stifled.
So that's the tour questions. Before I take off for the weekend.(Yippeee) a quick mention to two extremely wonderful writers Sumeetha and Bhavana Murali. Both of them have enjoyed recent success and they are stellar people who love books.
Check out their books here
A quick thanks to Neelima again for tagging me, I'm so sorry for being roughly two weeks late.:(

Happy Easter everyone
Hallelujah He has risen.....
Its been quite a while since I put up a post and I owe so many people online here an apology. Hopefully will get into the swing, now that we celebrate the Easter Octave.
To all whom I am indebted to Neel in particular, I'm working on it and I am sorry for my absence here.
All the joys of Easter have brought out a new vigour in me and everything else. So apart from may insanely good brownies, my chicken calzone and the glazed doughnuts that have been sent in neat packages to all my folks, the season has come with great joy and an injection of Christ's passion.
I know that while we use the term 'never forget' in terms of the holocausts all over the world, we still see the world filled with areas of ethnic cleansing, something similar is happening in Europe, its sad, but while people line up for war, few are exercising a will to man up, sit down and hard talk the issues.
But this Good Friday if I have heard any message booming in my years, it has been this, 'MY PASSION FOR YOU- NEVER, NEVER FORGET'
And the Passion story like Rev Fr. Desmond in his homily at IC says can lose its significance on us unless we never forget the price one man paid for a sinner like me. For my trials, doubts, grievances seem paltry in light of HIS Passion. And so my fellow online buddies, lets never forget the PASSION OF CHRIST.
Its my prayer this Easter that we may be an Easter people and that we may be a Eucharistic people always remembering the sacrifice God has made to have His own son martyred for the likes of you and me.
The reading of Abraham which I heard in Marathi at the Vigil mass almost drove me to tears, where Isaac asks his father 'where is the sacrifice?'
What a sword must have pierced his heart to know that his only son born of great prayer was to be sacrificed? What went through the heart of God that His only Son become the sacrifice?
Its almost embarrassing to the point of shame that someone so innocent and spotless was killed for me and here I am complaining that I have not been given this, that these problems are in my life, that I face injustice, and my litany of wants unceasing.
So let prayers be made for the places in the world where the Easter light may flood over the darkness. For even the darkest night of Hades is bright enough for Christ to conquer and rise to say 'I am the resurrection and the life. He who believe in me will have eternal life.'
'What a promise? What a Saviour?'
Maranatha....
Happy Easter people.... God bless one and all..... May Jesus illuminate every darkness, every impossibility in your life, may His hope and promise fill you to overflowing and may you never doubt His love for you.
Thank you Jesus for giving us new life.....

Lent- a time for introspection
Lent is the 40 day preparation before Easter. And a time to listen. Everyone and every buzzing object clamours for our attention. It gets us crazy involved, tricking us into thinking that its about us, we tweet, whatsapp, facebook and instagram constantly so that our voices are heard. When no one hears us we try even harder. Soon our time is consumed, our energy is zapped and we are running on empty.
Lent is a time when we listen maybe to our own voice, or the voice of someone in need, or the voice of God in different people. Its not about what we give up but why we give up what we do. Today its a very me centric world, and God tells us its all about Him.
My tips especially for my fellow Catholics, don't tell people what you've given up. You will be tempted to share. A need to share will erupt in your belly and you will want to erupt to the world about the sacrifice you're making, but don't. Your Father who sees all things in secret knows your sacrifice and understands your pain.
Sign up for something extra. The rule of 10 does not apply to your money, its applies to your time and talent as well. Seek to grow spiritually. There are dozens of resources to choose from sign up for one.
Use Lenten reflections to help you everyday. Its not going to be easy. The Catholic way of life is hard as it is. Still yourself, that's even harder to do. But know that He is with you.
A lot of my friends this year have already experienced some sort of revival in the last few days and we're just into Lent two weeks. Imagine what a lifetime of Jesus commitment could bring?
I wish every one a meditative time at Lent. You may not realize it but God is changing you from the inside out. Let every tear, every failure, every pang of hunger, every string of jealousy, every shred of pride, every need for revenge, every hurt, every splinter of brokenness, every disappointment, every sliver of sickness and more be surrendered to God Himself, who actually had to die to prove to the world the measure of His love. Have you found some one who could do that for you.
I haven't and probably never will. Jesus, lover of my soul, still the only one.

Happy Women's day 2014
I usually do not make a big deal about women's day. But every year is different and in the years that have passed by as a blogger, I think celebrating femininity in 2014 is a must.
For the most part because women in our lives are just taken for granted. Your mother, wife, girlfriend, sister, friend, teachers, colleagues etc etc we just take their existence for granted.
Can we imagine a world without any women? While you may say life would be great without the nagging, but hey think again, women are what make the world go round generation after generation.
Lent has begun. So I'm keeping this short. Have a wonderful week ahead.
Song on my playlist: Cara Dillon- There were roses
