Writing tour
First up a big thank you to Neelima for tagging me along her writing process tour. Her book Unsettled- is like I tweeted- love in poetry. And I must say that ever since I've known her, which was post our launch at Indireads, she has been supportive and kind even over my most trivial stupidities. So thanks Neel for the tag. You can tweet her @neelthemuse.
Part of the tour involves answering the questions below and I will try answering them without putting anyone to sleep.
What am I working on?
I'm working. Phew.
But yes I'm also writing. Writing the first draft of a short story. While plotting out what my next manuscript should be. Short stories for me have done pretty well. And its easier for me to be succinct than spin something novel length.
How does my work differ from others of its genre?
My work is all encompassing. I write with a lot of references to culture. You must have seen that with my short stories and novella 'Seoulmates.'That's what brings magic to the setting. And i like the process of discovery of a new location or how a culture unfolds.
Why do I write what I do?
Because I Love to.(smiles) I write these things because I don't want to forget the dream I've seen or the characters I've woven or the places I've visited in the realm of my imagination. I feel I can change our people's perceptions by writing. Others feel they can do by doing ground breaking research or becoming activists. For me I feel by writing I cane make a difference.
How does my writing process work?
My process is basically writing from the hip and it works in some ways because it lets me be completely creative. I've tried storyboards and spreadsheets but I feel limited with plot lines and rules. In a way I feel stifled.
So that's the tour questions. Before I take off for the weekend.(Yippeee) a quick mention to two extremely wonderful writers Sumeetha and Bhavana Murali. Both of them have enjoyed recent success on Indireads and they are stellar people who love books.
