Star trek 2013

Last week I went on a whim or rather someone else's and watched Star Trek 2013. Thanks to the internet we didn't have to wait long lines to watch the show. Most people were lining up to watch something else entirely because there were few people at screen 1 with us. And most of them were die hard fans of star trek, so the ooh's, ahhhh's and even the awe was quite palpable. I'd rather watch star trek as a tv series just as I did when I was a kid. But those days are long gone.

Overall I would say the movies does inspire some wonder. I mean space always does. Just watching the lone deserted planets in space surrounded by gazallion stars inspires the greatest respect. It really is cool. My only misgivings with the movie, is that its not sci-fi enough. I honestly think, the Big Bang theory has more 'science' in 25 minutes than this movie did. I also didn't like the camera panning out to every face on the deck everytime something disastrous was about to happen. Its just a waste of screen time and we're not idiots watching. Give us some credit. It was otherwise fun to watch, Benedict convinicing, the relationship between Spock and Kirk really light and funny, what I like best is the graphics of the ship lifting itself from the ocean bed and going into warp drive...... Awesome...Worth watching in the theatre.......Kudos to its writers... great job...
