Thriving in your single-hood: Part Three- Mate
We are doing a three-part series on thriving in your single-hood. Our inspiration comes from Ken Grave’s book,Master, Mission, Mate: A guide for Christian singles. We are studying the first single man i.e. Adam. He gives us a picture of the transition from single-hood to marriage with God at the centre of it. Adam had God as his Master, then God gave him a mission, which led to his mate. If you haven’t read Part One (MASTER), please read it first here. If you haven’t read the sequel (MISSION),...

Thriving in your single-hood: Part One- Master
Waturi and I celebrated four years of our marriage on the 1st of September. Over the course, we have had many young people ask us to give them relationship advice on single-hood. I thought it was about time I blogged about it. The entire blog is too long so I will divide it into three parts. I will name the three portions of advice as Master, Mission and Mate respectively. This inspiration comes from Ken Grave’s book: Master, Mission, Mate: A guide for Christian singles. So if you are as sing...

3 reasons why Christian students should not shy from campus politics
Recently, my wife and I were once invited to preach at a campus Christian Union evening service. As we drove into the university, we could tell it was politics season. Posters on trees. Posters on notice boards. Posters on walls and posters on doors. Posters on top of rival posters. Posters on top of the posters on top of rival posters. Posters with smiling faces of potential leaders. Smiles you could trust. Posters you could design with basic Photoshop experience. Posters you couldn’t create...

Don’t gamble your soul
Hi Ernest, a friend of mine has been gambling and he has now become addicted to the whole thing. He wins some and he loses some. Actually he loses quite a lot. I am concerned that this behaviour is consuming his time and money. He is about to wed and I have warned him that he will not be a good husband because this addictive behaviour will follow him into marriage. However, he challenged me by asking “Where in the Bible does it say that gambling and betting is wrong?” I didn’t have a Bible ve...

He says God told him we should get married
Hi Ernest. Thanks for responding to my inbox. My question is this. So I met this guy recently at my church during one of our ministry events. I had seen him before but we never used to talk. He then randomly walked up to me last week and he told me that God showed him in a dream that we are destined for each other and that it was God’s will for us to get married. He said it was God’s will that we even start going out for coffee dates. I know God speaks to people through dreams and visions. I...

Sexual Pride
SEXUAL PRIDE
Hey Ernest, I saw a certain video of a pastor commenting on the mass shooting in the gay club in Orlando. He said that the world now had 50 less paedophiles. Yes, he doesn’t support the extremism but he’s okay with the death of these homosexuals – after all, AIDS or some STD would kill them. He referred to Leviticus 20:13 as a key text that supports death of homosexuals and said that the state was to be the one carrying out the killings of the homosexuals in accordance with Levit...

Seven guidelines for Christians when contending for the faith
Seven guidelines for Christians when contending for the faith
Question
Hi Ernest. Thanks for your blogs. I’m learning quite a lot from them. I know many people ask you questions about relationships, but mine’s different. I’m learning about apologetics and contending for the Christian faith. I used to think it was unbiblical until I read Paul doing that when he reasoned with the Jews from the scriptures and challenged the gentiles in their own culture. I’ve come across some pretty good resourc...
