FIFTY SHADES OF GREY

the story was poorly written and redundant. The characters had the depth of cardboard cutouts. At times, I felt like I was reading the ramblings of a horny adolescent boy. If the author was aiming for another “Fear of Flying” or “Portnoy’s Complaint,” she missed by a mile.
I was pressured into reading this book by friends (?) who thought I was missing something by not diving into this trilogy. I will not be reading the second or third books, and I’m seriously re-evaluating my friends’ taste and sense of humor.
Kudos to the marketing departments of Vintage/Random House and their publicists for making the public believe that they were selling us a naughty, erotic novel when all they had to offer was dreck on a stick. For that, I gave the book one star.

THE MOMMY LETTERS

href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1..." style="float: left; padding-right: 20px">The Mommy LettersThe Mommy Letters by Anne M. Carpenter

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The problem with this book is that the reader just can't put it down. It starts with a heart wrenching scene of Sarah who is trying to cope with the disappearance of her small daughter while maintaining some semblance of order for her older children. Struggling to act normal while she deals with the stress of a town job and a mother with Alzheimer's could cause her to go over the edge. But then the letters start. At that point, she could have given up, but that's when Sarah works with her ex-husband, a cop to solve the mystery of the missing child.
When you pick up this book, you won't be putting it down for a while.

STORM FROM BY JOHN SANDFORD

Storm Front (Virgil Flowers, #7) Storm Front by John Sandford

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Every time I finish one of John Sandford's novels, I believe that book is his best and it can't get any better. But it does! The Israelis, Palestinians, Syrians chasing a relic in Minnesota while Virgil Flowers waltzes through another extraordinary story. Virgil's the man, John Sandford's the man.

25 Cookie Favorites

25 Cookie Favorites 25 Cookie Favorites by Patti and Tiffany

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Quick and easy recipes even though one of the recipes called for an oven to be 3757 degrees or thereabout. Must have been a typo.
