God Is a Capable Father
“Nothing is impossible for God”
Luke 1:37 (GW)
God can handle any situation you give him. No problem is too tough for him. Nothing is beyond his ability. But the first thing you’ve got to do is bring it to him.
What decision are you facing this week? What mountain needs to be moved? Cancer? Bankruptcy? Your kids are having problems? Can’t break a bad habit? “Nothing is impossible for God” (Luke 1:37 GW).
In Jeremiah 32:27 God says, “I am the LORD, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?” (NIV). It’s almost like God is laying down the gauntlet, saying, “I dare you. Think up a problem that I can’t solve. Is anything too hard for me?”
Many children have said something like, “My daddy can do anything! My daddy can beat your daddy!” I really thought that was true of my father. But as I grew up, I began to have my eyes opened. I realized that when it came to my allowance, my dad had limited resources. When it came to advice, sometimes he was just guessing too. My guess was as good as his because he’s an imperfect father.
Ephesians 3:20 says, “God . . . is able to do far more than we would ever dare to ask or even dream of—infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, or hopes!” (TLB). I have a pretty vivid imagination. I can think up some pretty big dreams. I can set some high goals. But God essentially says, “My son, you think up the greatest thing you think I could do in your life and I can beat that. I can top that.” He is a capable Father.
What can you expect from your Father in heaven? “My God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19 NIV). He has unlimited resources, unlimited energy, unlimited knowledge, unlimited time. He can meet all of your needs.
The Lord’s Prayer gives us an example of that. It says that God, as our Father, provides three things: provision for today (“give us today our daily bread”); pardon for yesterday (“forgive us our debts as we have forgiven our debtors”); protection for tomorrow (“lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one”) (Matthew 6:11-13 NIV).
In today’s language, God might say, “I’ve got all the bases covered—present, past, future. Your present? I’ll provide. Your past? You blew it, but it’s okay; it’s forgiven. Your future? Don’t worry; don’t fear
“I’ll take care of yesterday’s failures, today’s frustrations, and tomorrow’s fears because I am a capable Father.”

Fuiste Hecho Para Durar Para Siempre
“Pues este mundo no es nuestro hogar permanente; esperamos el hogar futuro”. Hebreos 13:14 (NTV)
El cielo es el lugar que Dios ha preparado para Su familia.
Cuando Dios empezó a pensar en la Tierra, también empezó a pensar en el cielo. ¿Por qué? Porque sabía que no estabas destinado a vivir aquí para siempre. ¡Esto no es todo lo que hay!
Eso es algo bueno, porque no quieres vivir en un lugar imperfecto para siempre. Quieres vivir en un lugar perfecto que fue hecho solo para ti, como miembro de la familia de Dios.
El plan de Dios para la eternidad es una expresión asombrosa de su amor. La Biblia nos dice que Dios creó todo el universo porque quería una familia que viviera con Él para siempre. No fue porque se sintiera solo —porque Dios está plenamente satisfecho de sí mismo. Quiso expresar su amor creando seres humanos a su imagen, para adoptarnos en su familia y que viviéramos con Él para siempre.
Efesios 1:5 dice: “Dios decidió de antemano adoptarnos como miembros de su familia al acercarnos a sí mismo por medio de Jesucristo. Eso es precisamente lo que él quería hacer, y le dio gran gusto hacerlo” (NTV).
Hay una palabra para la familia de Dios: iglesia. Lo único que va a durar en este mundo es la iglesia, las personas que han elegido ser parte de la familia de Dios en la fe y la obediencia.
Como dice la Biblia: “Tenemos una herencia que no tiene precio, una herencia que está reservada en el cielo para ustedes, pura y sin mancha, que no puede cambiar ni deteriorarse” 1 Pedro 1:4 (NTV).
Debido a que fuiste hecho para durar para siempre, puedes elegir pasar la eternidad en uno de dos lugares: el cielo o el infierno.
Cuando haces de Jesús el Señor de tu vida, aceptas tu herencia como hijo de Dios y tu hogar para siempre en el cielo. ¡Esa herencia nunca te la pueden quitar! Es el maravilloso regalo de Dios para ti. Cambia no solo dónde pasas la eternidad, sino también cómo vives la vida ahora.
La Biblia dice en Hebreos 13:14, “Pues este mundo no es nuestro hogar permanente; esperamos el hogar futuro” (NTV).
Una vez que te conviertes en parte de la familia de Dios, hay mucho más en la vida que solo el aquí y el ahora. Te das cuenta de que este mundo realmente no es tu hogar. ¡Estás de paso!
Reflexiona sobre esto:
¿Cómo ves la vida de manera diferente cuando entiendes lo corta que es en comparación con la eternidad y cuánto tienes que esperar como seguidor de Jesús?¿Cuáles son algunas formas en que has experimentado a Dios como tu Padre celestial? ¿Cómo es ser su hijo?¿Pensar en el cielo te da la urgencia de contárselo a otros? ¿Por qué o por qué no?
Dios te quiere en su familia. ¿Estás listo para volver a casa?
Dios te hizo para amarte, y uno de los lugares que más claramente ves es en la cruz. A través de la muerte y resurrección de Jesús, Dios hizo posible que seas parte de Su familia por la eternidad. No importa lo que hayas hecho o dónde hayas estado, tienes un lugar en la familia eterna de Dios listo y esperándote. La invitación está abierta. Solo cree y recibe.
¿Estás listo? Aquí hay una oración con la que puedes comenzar:
“Querido Dios, sé que cuando muera, te daré cuenta de mi vida. Sé que he pecado contra ti y he vivido según mi plan, no el tuyo. Quiero que eso cambie, comenzando ahora mismo. Quiero alejarme de mis pecados y volverme hacia ti.
Gracias por enviar a Jesús a morir por todo lo que he hecho mal para no tener que pagar la pena. Sé que no merezco tu perdón. Sé que solo tu gracia puede salvarme, Señor.
Jesús, creo en ti y te entrego mi vida. Te seguiré como mi Señor desde este día en adelante. En el nombre de Jesús oro. Amén”.

When You’re Overwhelmed, Stand Strong
“Put your trust in the LORD your God, and you will stand your ground. Believe what his prophets tell you, and you will succeed.”
2 Chronicles 20:20 (GNT)
When you focus on your problems instead of trusting God, you’re going to end up exhausted and defeated—because God didn’t design you to fight your battles alone. You don’t have the power you need to face every problem in your own strength. You need God’s power.
You can’t focus on your problems and focus on God at the same time. You’ve got to shift your focus to who God is and what he’s promised to do for you.
Life is full of experiences that test you, drain you, and wipe you out. But it’s often when you are worn out that you are finally ready to say to God, “I’m sorry. I can’t handle this situation, and I’ve tried everything. I need to give it to you because it’s bigger than me.”
When you do that, you’re standing strong—with an attitude of quiet confidence in the character of God. You’re trusting in what he says to you through his Word and the Holy Spirit.
When life’s burdens are overwhelming, you may be tempted to cave in under the pressure. But God doesn’t want you to back down from difficult situations. He doesn’t want you to sacrifice your integrity. God wants you to trust him through the challenges and learn from them.
If you run, you’ll miss out on learning from God. And chances are, you’ll need to repeat that lesson. Instead, stand strong as you rely on God.
God is committed to your success. But you need to focus on him and trust him and his Word if you want to stand your ground.
“Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all” (Proverbs 3:5-7 MSG).

La Batalla Contra el Mal ya Está Ganada
“No dejen que el mal los venza, más bien venzan el mal haciendo el bien”. Romanos 12:21 (NTV)
Cuando te enfrentes al mal, no lo devuelvas. Afróntalo.
Esto es lo opuesto a la naturaleza humana y lo que el mundo aprueba. Cuando alguien te lastima, quieres lastimarlo de vuelta, ¿verdad? Cuando alguien te golpea, quieres devolverle el golpe. Cuando alguien te calumnia, quieres calumniar contra ellos.
Pero Dios dice que esa no es la forma en que vas a ganar la batalla contra el mal. Romanos 12:21 dice: “No dejen que el mal los venza, más bien venzan el mal haciendo el bien” (NTV). Esa es la manera de Dios de ganar la batalla.
Jesucristo vino a la Tierra para mostrar que no se destruye el mal tomando represalias; lo destruyes venciéndolo con el bien.
La Biblia dice: “El Hijo de Dios vino para destruir las obras del diablo” 1 Juan 3:8b (NTV). Jesús vino a destruir el mal. Vino a borrarlo. El mal va a terminar un día.
No va a existir para siempre. Un día Dios va a cerrar los libros. Él va a ajustar cuentas. Va a poner fin a la historia y llevar a Su familia a la eternidad con Él.
Si quieres estar del lado ganador, es mejor que te pongas del lado de Dios porque el mal va a perder. El mal gana algunas batallas aquí y allá, pero el resultado de la guerra está predeterminado.
El bien y el mal no son iguales en fuerza o competencia. Puede parecer que el mal es más fuerte y que el mal está ganando. Pero el amor es mucho más fuerte que el mal. La bondad es mucho más fuerte que el mal. El bien es mucho mayor que el mal. El bien vencerá cien veces al mal.
Al final, Dios y sus seguidores ganarán. El bien triunfará sobre el mal porque Dios es amor, y su amor durará para siempre.
Jesús dijo: “Edificaré mi iglesia, y el poder de la muerte no la conquistará” Mateo 16:18 (NTV).
Puedes usar la bondad para luchar contra el mal porque esta es la promesa de Dios: luchas contra el mal con la confianza de que Dios ya ha ganado la guerra. El mal va a perder. ¡La victoria está asegurada!
Reflexiona sobre esto:
¿De qué manera se siente que el mal está ganando en el mundo?¿Cómo puedes recordar las promesas de Dios cuando estás tratando de vencer el mal con el bien?¿Qué significa que Dios está edificando su iglesia? ¿Cómo te anima eso en la lucha contra el mal?No hay condenación para los que son de Cristo
“Padre, tú prometes que, si creo en Jesús, seré perdonado. Pido ese perdón ahora. Sé que soy un pecador y que solo tú puedes borrar el registro de todas las cosas que he hecho mal.
Jesucristo, creo que moriste para pagar por mis pecados. Creo que luego resucitaste, rompiendo el poder de la muerte para que yo pueda tener vida eterna contigo en el cielo. Gracias por salvarme. Gracias porque no tengo que ganar, merecer o trabajar para mi salvación. Es tu regalo de gracia. Todo lo que tengo que hacer es aceptarlo.
Hoy me aparto de mis pecados y te invito a entrar en mi corazón y en mi vida. Quiero confiar en ti y seguirte como mi Señor y Salvador.
Quiero usar el resto de mi vida para servirte. Gracias por amarme, salvarme y aceptarme en tu familia. En tu nombre oro. Amén”.

God’s on Your Side—the Winning Side
“We are helpless in the face of this large army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but we look to you for help.”
2 Chronicles 20:12 (GNT)
When you feel overwhelmed, it’s important to go to God in prayer and confess your inability and inadequacy. If you’re afraid, you need to be honest and tell God exactly how you feel.
In 2 Chronicles 20:12, Jehoshaphat prays, “We are helpless in the face of this large army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but we look to you for help” (GNT). Have you ever felt that way? Have you ever felt like there was a problem in your marriage, your career, or somewhere in your life that you thought was overwhelming? You start at the beginning of the week thinking maybe you can handle it, but by Wednesday you’re out of power.
Have you ever felt like that? You pick up the newspaper, and it looks like the bad guys are winning. The moral and spiritual climate of our society is collapsing. It looks like the bad guys are winning in many ways.
So what do you do? You say, “God, we’re powerless, and we don’t know what to do.” You tell God exactly how you feel.
It’s interesting when you compare verse 12, where it says, “We are helpless” to verse 6, where Jehoshaphat says, “You are powerful and mighty, and no one can oppose you” (2 Chronicles 20:6 GNT). When God has power, it doesn’t matter if you’re powerless. If you put your trust in him, he’ll take care of you.
I don’t have to have power. You don’t either. And you don’t have to pretend that you do. All you have to do is trust in God, who’s got all the power that you need.

When you were growing up, how were you taught to handle weakness?
Why do you think it is so difficult to express our inadequacy to anyone, including God?
When have you seen God work in a situation where you were powerless?
Where will you spend eternity?
Your sins separate you from God. And it is only God’s grace that allows you back into a right relationship with him.
The Bible says, “It is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV).
If you’re ready to make peace with your Creator, then pray this prayer:
“Dear Jesus, I don’t want my sin to separate me from you any longer. You have promised that if I believe in you, everything I’ve ever done wrong will be forgiven, and you will accept me into your eternal home in heaven one day.
“I confess my sin, and I believe you are my Savior. You have promised that if I confess my sin and trust you, I will be saved. I believe you when you say salvation comes by grace, through faith, and not by anything I do. I receive you into my life as my Lord. Today, I’m turning over every part of my life to your management.
“I want to live the way you created me to live and use the rest of my life to serve you instead of serving myself. I commit my life to you and ask you to save me and accept me into your family. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

Lo Peor del Infierno
“Les he escrito estas cosas a ustedes, que creen en el nombre del Hijo de Dios, para que sepan que tienen vida eterna”. 1 Juan 5:13 (NTV)
Es probable que tengas una imagen que te venga a la mente cuando piensas en cómo debe ser el infierno. Es probable que tu imagen contenga tonos rojos y negros, mucho fuego y tal vez el diablo asomando por encima de todo.
El infierno se describe en la Biblia como un lugar de tormento. Mateo 13:42 dice que es un “horno ardiente, donde habrá llanto y rechinar de dientes” (NTV).
Esa descripción suena terrible, pero ¿sabes cuál es la peor parte del infierno? El infierno es la separación total de Dios, lo que significa que el infierno es exactamente lo contrario de todo lo que Dios es.
La Biblia dice en 1 Juan 4:18a, “En el amor no hay temor, sino que el amor perfecto echa fuera el temor” (NVI). Lo opuesto al amor es el temor. Vivir sin amor significa que estás temeroso todo el tiempo, eso es un infierno.
Dios es amor, así que no hay amor en el infierno. Dios es luz, así que el infierno es completa oscuridad. Dios es bueno, así que no hay absolutamente nada bueno en el infierno. Dios es vida, entonces eso significa que el infierno es muerte eterna. Dios es misericordioso, eso significa que no hay gracia en el infierno.
Solo piensa cómo sería la eternidad sin el gozo de conocer a Dios y ser amado por Él, una eternidad sin ningún gozo.
Sería terrible, impensable, en realidad. Pero esa es la realidad para cualquiera que no elija amar y seguir a Jesús en esta vida. La Biblia dice: “Si alguien no ama al Señor, tal persona es maldita. Señor nuestro, ¡ven!” 1 Corintios 16:22 (NTV).
Si pasas toda tu vida diciendo: “No quiero a Dios en mi vida”, eso significa que también pasarás la eternidad sin Dios. Lo que elijas en la Tierra es tu elección para siempre.
¡Pero hay buenas noticias! Hay una manera de estar absolutamente seguro de que vas al cielo y no al infierno. La Biblia te dice cómo establecer tu destino: “Les he escrito estas cosas a ustedes, que creen en el nombre del Hijo de Dios, para que sepan que tienen vida eterna” 1 Juan 5:13 (NTV).
No tienes que adivinar o preguntarte sobre algo que es inevitable y podría suceder en cualquier momento. Puedes saber con certeza hoy que cuando mueras, pasarás la eternidad en la presencia de Dios. No lo pospongas más.
Resuelve tu futuro hoy.
Reflexiona sobre esto:
¿Por qué crees que tantas personas posponen la decisión de algo tan importante cuando saben que la muerte puede llegar en cualquier momento?¿Qué le dirías a alguien que piensa que ha sido lo suficientemente bueno para entrar al cielo?¿Cómo vives diferente porque estás seguro de dónde pasarás la eternidad?Si no has confiado en Jesús y no te has comprometido a seguirlo, ¿por qué esperar más?Tus pecados te separan de Dios. Y es solo la gracia de Dios la que puede hacer que vuelvas a tener una relación con Él.
La Biblia dice: “Dios los salvó por su gracia cuando creyeron. Ustedes no tienen ningún mérito en eso; es un regalo de Dios. 9 La salvación no es un premio por las cosas buenas que hayamos hecho, así que ninguno de nosotros puede jactarse de ser salvo” Efesios 2:8-9 (NTV).
Si estás listo para hacer las paces con tu Creador, entonces haz esta oración:
“Querido Jesús, no quiero que mi pecado me separe más de ti. Has prometido que, si creo en ti, todo lo que he hecho mal será perdonado, aprenderé el propósito de mi vida y algún día me aceptarás en tu hogar eterno en el cielo.
Confieso mi pecado y creo que eres mi Salvador y el único camino a la vida eterna. Confío en ti cuando dices que la salvación viene por gracia, por medio de la fe, y no por nada que yo haga. Te recibo en mi vida como mi Señor. Hoy, entrego cada parte de mi vida a tu voluntad.
Quiero vivir de la forma en que me creaste para vivir y usar el resto de mi vida para servirte en lugar de servirme a mí mismo. Te entrego mi vida y te pido que me salves y me aceptes en tu familia. En el nombre de Jesús oro. Amén”.

When You Pray for Relief, Worship First
“King Jehoshaphat went and stood before [the people] and prayed aloud.”
2 Chronicles 20:5-6 (GNT)
Life includes times when you feel like you’re in an impossible situation, when you feel like you’re being attacked from all sides. That’s what happened to Israel’s King Jehoshaphat, who prayed to God when he faced armies from three different nations. To get through those times, you need to learn how to model your prayers after Jehoshaphat’s so that you can get relief.
Jehoshaphat did three things in 2 Chronicles 20 that you can do too:
Refocus on God. Even with a problem looming before you, shift your focus to God’s character and promises. Jehoshaphat prayed, “O LORD God of our ancestors, you rule in heaven over all the nations of the world. You are powerful and mighty, and no one can oppose you” (2 Chronicles 20:6 GNT). In essence, he was saying, “God, you are bigger than anything I will ever face.” Your problems may be too big for you to handle, but they will never be too big for God. Change your perspective by shifting your focus.
Remember God’s faithfulness in the past. Jehoshaphat recalled all the ways God had worked in Israel’s past. Remembering God’s faithfulness in the past will help you trust him for the future. You need to recall the times God has worked powerfully in your life.
Request God’s help. Jehoshaphat essentially prayed, “My problems aren’t too hard for you, God. You’ve helped us in the past. Please do it again!” God loves you, and he cares about your problems.
Jehoshaphat’s prayer is built around three questions: Are you not God? Did you not help us in the past? Will you not do it again?
When you are overwhelmed, you need God’s help. But it’s important to understand that your Father isn’t a vending machine who gives you whatever you want just because you’ve deposited a few prayers. God wants your worship first. You worship when you focus on him and thank him for his faithfulness. Then you pray and ask for his help.
Jehoshaphat was faithful to worship the Lord and ask him for help, and God delivered him from his enemies. God will do the same for you.

How does remembering that God is bigger than your problems change your perspective on a difficult situation you’re facing?
What does it mean to pray expectantly? How do the three questions about God (Are you not God? Did you not help us in the past? Will you not do it again?) help you pray this way?
If God doesn’t answer your prayers for relief when or how you thought he would, what is a healthy, Christlike response?
Where will you spend eternity?

¿Dónde Pasarás la Eternidad?
“Porque tanto amó Dios al mundo que dio a su Hijo único, para que todo el que cree en él no se pierda, sino que tenga vida eterna”. Juan 3:16 (NVI)
A lo largo de los años, me he encontrado con personas que quieren negar la existencia del mal. Piensan que las personas son básicamente buenas y desinteresadas por naturaleza y que, naturalmente, anteponen las necesidades de los demás a las propias.
¡Siempre me pregunto si esas personas alguna vez han leído las noticias! No tienes que mirar muy lejos para ver que el mundo está lleno de relaciones rotas, promesas rotas y pecado. El mal está a tu alrededor: desde la política mundial hasta los conflictos locales, puedes ver odio, amargura y corrupción.
Y porque el pecado y el mal existen, también existe el infierno.
Lo que era cierto en los días de Noé sigue siendo cierto hoy: “Al ver el Señor que la maldad del ser humano en la tierra era muy grande, y que todos sus pensamientos tendían siempre hacia el mal, se arrepintió de haber hecho al ser humano en la tierra, y le dolió en el corazón” Génesis 6:5-6 (NVI).
Cuando Dios mira todas las cosas malas que se hacen en el mundo, se le rompe el corazón porque ama a todos y quiere que aprendamos a amarnos unos a otros.
Pero Dios también es santo y justo. Él es perfecto y no puede pecar. Así que un día ajustará cuentas y corregirá los errores: “¡Canten delante del Señor porque ya viene! ¡Ya viene a juzgar la tierra! Y juzgará al mundo con justicia y a los pueblos con fidelidad” Salmo 96:13 (NVI).
Hasta entonces, Dios te ha dado libre albedrío para que puedas elegir amarlo. Él permite el pecado en la Tierra para que esta elección sea posible, pero no permite ningún pecado en el cielo. El cielo es un lugar completamente perfecto.
Si el cielo es un lugar perfecto, eso significa que solo las personas perfectas pueden ir allí. Por supuesto, eso es un problema, porque no eres perfecto y yo tampoco. ¡Nadie es perfecto!
Si estás hecho para durar para siempre y no eres perfecto, no puedes ir a un lugar perfecto como el cielo. Entonces, ¿adónde irás? La Biblia dice que irás al infierno.
¡Pero gracias a Dios! Él ha abierto un camino, a través de Jesucristo, su Hijo, para que te unas a Él en el cielo: “Porque tanto amó Dios al mundo que dio a su Hijo único, para que todo el que cree en él no se pierda, sino que tenga vida eterna. Dios no envió a su Hijo al mundo para condenar al mundo, sino para salvarlo por medio de él. El que cree en él no es condenado, pero el que no cree ya está condenado por no haber creído en el nombre del Hijo único de Dios” Juan 3:16-18 (NVI).
El infierno es real. Así es el cielo. Elige a Cristo, y no hay condenación. ¡La decisión es tuya!
Reflexiona sobre esto:
¿Por qué es importante ser directo sobre la existencia del infierno cuando hablas con la gente sobre el Evangelio?¿Cómo le responderías a alguien que pregunta, “¿Por qué crees que existe el infierno?”¿Crees que Dios puede tener amor sin exigir justicia? ¿Por qué o por qué no?
¿Escogerás pasar la eternidad con Dios?
La Biblia dice: “Esta justicia de Dios llega, mediante la fe en Jesucristo, a todos los que creen. De hecho, no hay distinción” (Romanos 3:22 NVI). Si estás listo para alejarse de tus pecados y entregar tu vida a Jesucristo, comienza con esta sencilla oración:
“Querido Dios, sé que soy un pecador y te pido perdón. Creo que Jesucristo es tu Hijo. Creo que murió por mis pecados y que tú lo resucitaste. Quiero confiar en Él como mi Salvador y seguirlo como Señor a partir de este día. Guía mi vida y ayúdame a hacer tu voluntad. En el nombre de Jesús oro. Amén”.

Pray First, Pray More
“After this the armies of the Moabites, Ammonites, and some of the Meunites declared war on Jehoshaphat . . . Jehoshaphat was terrified by this news and begged the LORD for guidance.”
2 Chronicles 20:1,3 (NLT)
Sometimes it seems the odds are against you.
I once read the story of a man named Brian who had a day like that. First, his apartment flooded from a broken pipe. When he went to rent a water vacuum, he discovered that he had a flat tire. He went back inside to phone a friend for help. But grabbing the phone while standing in water gave him such a startling electrical shock that he ripped the phone off the wall. By the time he was able to leave, water damage had caused his door to swell shut, and he had to yell for a neighbor to kick it down. While all this was happening, somebody stole Brian’s car.
That evening, Brian attended a military ceremony at his university and injured himself when he sat on his bayonet. Doctors stitched his wound, but no one could resuscitate Brian’s four canaries who were crushed by fallen plaster from the wet apartment ceiling. On top of all that, when he got back from the university, he slipped on the wet carpet and injured his tailbone.
Brian said he began to wonder if God wanted him dead but just kept missing.
Have you ever had a day like that—or maybe a year like that? What do you do when you’re facing insurmountable, overwhelming problems?
Before you do anything else, you go directly to God. You say, “God, I am overwhelmed!” And you ask, “God, what do you think about this situation?”
While your perspective is limited, God’s perspective is eternal—he can see the beginning and the end. He can see past, present, and future all at once. You need to get God’s perspective, the bigger picture of the problem that seems so overwhelming to you right now.
Too often we see prayer as a last resort rather than as our first thought. Prayer is usually something we do way down the line after we’ve tried everything else. People will say, “I guess all we can do now is pray!” like it’s their last option.
Prayer should be your first choice, not your last resort. If you want God to help you overcome the odds in any area of your life, you have to turn to him first.
2 Chronicles 20:1,3 says, “After this the armies of the Moabites, Ammonites, and some of the Meunites declared war on Jehoshaphat . . . Jehoshaphat was terrified by this news and begged the LORD for guidance” (NLT). When verse 1 says “after this,” it’s referring to a great national revival, a spiritual awakening. There was great prosperity and blessing in the land. But soon after, there was war.
With every high, there is a low. After every victory, there is a letdown. And with every blessing, there comes a testing. You may not be in a battle right now, but you’re going to be in one tomorrow or the next day or the day after that. You should expect blessing in your life, but you also need to expect battles in your life.
You’re going to have difficult times. But you should never let an impossible situation intimidate you. Let it motivate you to pray more and turn to God first.

No Desperdicies tu Única Oportunidad en el Cielo
“Sí, estamos plenamente confiados, y preferiríamos estar fuera de este cuerpo terrenal porque entonces estaríamos en el hogar celestial con el Señor”. 2 Corintios 5:8 (NTV)
Puedes elegir dónde vas a pasar la Eternidad. Pero tienes que elegir ahora mientras estás vivo, no después de que estés muerto. ¡No hay vuelta atrás! Dios te da toda una vida para tomar la decisión correcta. Si sigues posponiéndolo, no habrá una segunda oportunidad de hacerlo bien una vez que hayas muerto.
No hay una casa a mitad de camino entre el cielo y el infierno. No hay un estado intermedio. No hay limbo. No hay purgatorio.
¿Sabías que la palabra “purgatorio” no está en la Biblia? No es una idea bíblica. Es algo que se creó hace 800 años en la Edad Media. De hecho, los católicos ya ni siquiera lo creen. El Papa Juan Pablo II declaró públicamente que el purgatorio no es un lugar real, y la palabra “purgatorio” ni siquiera está en el catecismo católico de hoy.
Cuando Jesús estaba muriendo en la cruz, había un hombre a su lado que había sido un criminal toda su vida. En sus últimos segundos, el hombre entregó su vida a Jesús y dijo: “Jesús, acuérdate de mí cuando vengas en tu reino” Lucas 23:42 (NTV). Todo lo que sabía acerca de la salvación era que Jesús podía salvarlo. No conocía todas las doctrinas ni la teología. No sabía todas las palabras “correctas”. Simplemente dijo “sí” a Jesús.
Por su fe, Jesús le dice: “Hoy estarás conmigo en el paraíso” Lucas 23:43 (NTV).
Para entrar al cielo, todo lo que necesitas de tu parte es decir “sí” a Jesucristo. ¡Eso es todo! La promesa es que tienes la garantía de estar con Dios instantáneamente cuando mueras y pasar la eternidad en el gozo de su presencia.
Pero solo tienes una vida y una oportunidad para tomar la decisión de seguir a Jesús. La Biblia dice en 2 Corintios 5:8: “Sí, estamos plenamente confiados, y preferiríamos estar fuera de este cuerpo terrenal porque entonces estaríamos en el hogar celestial con el Señor” (NTV).
Dios ha hecho todo para asegurarse de que entres en el cielo. Ahora tienes que hacer tu parte para asegurarte de participar de su promesa.
Tienes una oportunidad de tomar una decisión para la eternidad. ¡No lo desperdicies!

¿Por qué crees que tantas personas creen que pueden posponer la decisión de convertirse o no en cristianos?¿Cómo te da esperanza la historia del criminal en la cruz junto a Jesús?Esta semana, ¿a quién compartirás sobre la urgencia de tomar la decisión de seguir a Jesús?¿Estás listo para decir “sí” a Jesús?
La Biblia dice: “Dios nos hace justos a sus ojos cuando ponemos nuestra fe en Jesucristo. Y eso es verdad para todo el que cree, sea quien fuere” Romanos 3:22 (NTV). Si estás listo para alejarse de tus pecados y entregar tu vida a Jesucristo, comienza con esta sencilla oración:
