If You Need Healing, Ask God for Help

“Very truly I tell you, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete."

John 16:23-24 (NIV)

If you need something in your life healed or restored, you need to first humble yourself and then admit you’re not in control. You can’t do it on your own!

Then ask God for help. How do you do that? “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face . . . then I will hear from heaven” (2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV).

You’re not waiting on God. He’s always been waiting on you! Whatever you’ve wanted restored in your life, you need to be praying about it. Have you asked God for that kind of help? He is waiting to for you to ask. And he knows even better than you do what you need.

A lot of people know they should pray for healing in their mind or their body or their marriage. But they don’t know how to pray.

“Very truly I tell you, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete” (John 16:23-24 NIV).

That verse tells you how to pray for healing:

Remember Jesus wants you to ask. God wants you to ask for anything in prayer because that’s the only way you’re going to learn how to trust him.

Ask in Jesus’ name. In other words, ask on the basis of what Jesus did on the cross. He paid for everything you need. There is power in Jesus’ name because it carries the full weight of God’s grace and redemptive love.

Keep on praying till God tells you to stop. Don’t pray one time and say, “Well, forget that.” Keep praying, believing God’s timing is perfect. God is responsible for the answer. You’re responsible to ask.

Joy does not come from getting what you ask God for. Joy comes in asking, believing, and thanking God, however he answers. Joy comes from trusting God to use your pain to make you more like him, knowing you will one day be fully restored with him in heaven.

Pray, remembering these three things. Even in your pain, God will give you more joy in the journey of following him than you could ever imagine!

¿En Realidad Necesitas Todo Lo Que Tienes?

“Vendan sus posesiones y den a los que pasan necesidad. ¡Eso almacenará tesoros para ustedes en el cielo! Y las bolsas celestiales nunca se ponen viejas ni se agujerean. El tesoro de ustedes estará seguro; ningún ladrón podrá robarlo y ninguna polilla, destruirlo”. Lucas 12:33 (NTV)

¿Sabías que hay un banco en el cielo?

¡Sí hay! El libro de Lucas habla de guardar tesoros en el cielo. Como cristiano, ese debería ser el banco donde tú depositas las mayores inversiones de tu vida, talento y recursos.

En el libro de Santiago, el escritor enfatiza la generosidad de Dios hacia sus seguidores en cinco lugares diferentes. Él dice que todo lo que tú tienes es por causa de la generosidad de Dios. No tendrías nada si no fuera por Dios. ¡Ni siquiera existirías! Todo regalo bueno y perfecto proviene de Dios —y es todo por su generosidad.

La generosidad de Dios contigo te debería hacer generoso con otras personas. Tú deberías usar lo que se te ha dado para ayudar a otros.

Todo lo que uses para hacer que las personas lleguen a Jesucristo se guardará en tu banco en el cielo. Tú estás haciendo una inversión en la eternidad cuando usas tus recursos para lo más importante: ayudar a las personas a tener una relación con Dios.

Un día un hombre muy rico vino a Jesús y le preguntó cómo prepararse para la eternidad en el cielo. Este hombre tenía mucho más dinero del que necesitaba o podía disfrutar. Él quería saber cómo podía tener vida eterna.

Jesús le dio a este hombre algunos consejos de inversión: “Vendan sus posesiones y den a los que pasan necesidad. ¡Eso almacenará tesoros para ustedes en el cielo! Y las bolsas celestiales nunca se ponen viejas ni se agujerean. El tesoro de ustedes estará seguro; ningún ladrón podrá robarlo y ninguna polilla, destruirlo” Lucas 12:33 (NTV). En otras palabras, liquida algunos de tus activos aquí en la tierra y envíalos al cielo, donde tu tesoro durará por siempre.

¿Qué hay de ti? ¿En realidad necesitas todo lo que tienes?  ¿O Jesús te está hablando a través de estos versículos —diciéndote que des algo de lo que tienes para ayudar a las personas que tienen mucho menos?

Cuando eres generoso, eso cambia tu perspectiva de lo que realmente necesitas. Y más importante, cada vez que escoges la generosidad, estás guardando tesoros en el cielo.

God’s Promises for the Humble

“He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way."

Psalm 25:9 (NIV)

Humility is not thinking less of yourself. You can be confident and humble at the same time! Humility is thinking of yourself less. When you stay focused on God and helping other people, you naturally think about yourself less.

That’s not an easy way to live. Why would anybody choose to think of others more than they think of themselves? Because God makes many promises in the Bible for Christians who will humble themselves. Humility is a big deal to God.

Here are four things God will do in your life when you work on being humble.

If you’re humble, God will guide you.
If you don’t know which way to turn—whether to get in or get out, hold on or let go—then get humble. When you humble yourself, God will make your next step clear. You’ll make fewer mistakes in life! “He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way” (Psalm 25:9 NIV).

If you’re humble, God will bless you.
These promises are all through Scripture, like Isaiah 66:2: “I will bless those who have humble and contrite hearts” (NLT). God doesn’t bless egotistic or prideful people or those who secretly think they’re better than everybody else. He blesses the humble.

If you’re humble, God will give you the power to change.
The power to change is called grace. Maybe there are things in your life you’d like to change. Perhaps you’ve tried to change, but you can’t or you won’t. You need grace!

How do you get God’s grace and the power to change? “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble” (James 4:6 NLT). Every time you’re prideful, you’re on the opposite side of God—and you don’t want to be there. The humbler you are, the more grace God gives you.

If you’re humble, God will reduce your stress.
If you’re prideful, your stress is going to go up. Instead, listen to Jesus: “Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls” (Matthew 11:29 NLT).

When you’re tapped out and feel like you have nothing left to give, surrender to Jesus. Spend time in the Bible, learning how to choose gentleness and humility by his example. Pray, and ask him for the grace to change.

Then you’ll find the rest your soul has been craving.

Deja Que Las Pruebas Te Hagan Más Como Jesús

“Sabiendo que la prueba de vuestra fe produce paciencia.  Mas tenga la paciencia su obra completa, para que seáis perfectos y cabales, sin que os falte cosa alguna”. Santiago 1:3-4 (RVR 1960)

Nosotros conocemos el final de la historia: ¡Jesús va a regresar! Y cuando lo haga, Él hará todas las cosas correctas y justas. Y si tú eres su seguidor, pasarás la eternidad con Él.

El saber cómo la historia termina debería cambiarlo todo.  Una de las maneras más grandes de cómo esto afecta tu vida es que debería motivarte a usar la adversidad para volverte más fuerte espiritualmente.

Eso es lo que dice Santiago que deberías hacer mientras estás en la tierra esperando por la segunda venida de Jesús: “Sabiendo que la prueba de vuestra fe produce paciencia.  Mas tenga la paciencia su obra completa, para que seáis perfectos y cabales, sin que os falte cosa alguna” Santiago 1:3-4 (RVR1960).

Sin duda alguna enfrentarás estrés, problemas, dificultades y adversidades en esta vida, hasta que llegue el momento de tu partida al cielo o que Cristo regrese. Deberías usar esas pruebas para desarrollar resistencia y volverte más como Cristo en carácter.

¿El convertirme como Cristo suena imposible? La Biblia dice que Dios puede hacer ese trabajo en nosotros: “Ahora, que el Dios de paz los haga santos en todos los aspectos, y que todo su espíritu, alma y cuerpo se mantenga sin culpa hasta que nuestro Señor Jesucristo vuelva” 1 Tesalonicenses 5:23 (NTV).

¿Estás completo—como estos versículos dicen que puedes estar—o estás fragmentado? ¿Tienes todo resuelto, o te estás desmoronando? Estos días, todos sentimos como que nos estamos desmoronando un poco—y está bien. No se supone que lo tengas todo resuelto. Tú no eres perfecto, y no lo serás mientras estés aquí en la tierra. No puedes cambiar eso.

Lo que puedes hacer es trabajar para que estés espiritualmente en forma en preparación para el regreso de Jesucristo.

Es importante mantenerse físicamente en forma y cuidar tu salud mental. Pero no puedes descuidar tu aspecto espiritual. Tú no tienes que ser el más fuerte, rápido, o más saludable cuando se trata de estar en forma espiritualmente. Tú solo necesitas seguir trabajando en eso y reconocer que la dificultad que enfrentas es usualmente una oportunidad para crecer en fe.

Si estás sin trabajo, si estás enfermo, si sientes el peso del prejuicio, dirígete a la Palabra de Dios y sus promesas. Cuando sientas que te estás desmoronando, recuerda que Dios todavía está trabajando para hacerte más como Él, y Él puede usar, aun la circunstancia más difícil en tu vida para hacerlo.

Deja Que Tus Pruebas Te Lleven a Jesús

Jesús dijo que aquellos que comparten su sufrimiento también compartirán su recompensa en el cielo. Pero el primer paso hacia esto es seguir a Jesús como tu Señor y Salvador. Dios dice que hoy es el día para seguir a Jesús: “«En el momento preciso, te oí. En el día de salvación te ayudé». Efectivamente, el «momento preciso» es ahora. Hoy es el día de salvación” 2 Corintios 6:2 (NTV).

¿Por qué esperar más? Hoy es el día de cruzar la línea y decirle a Jesucristo, “Yo quiero tener una relación contigo”.

¿Cómo haces eso? Comienza hablando con Él en oración. ¡Él te está oyendo ahora mismo! Él ya ha hecho todo lo que se necesitaba hacer. Es por eso que vino a la tierra. Es por eso que murió en la cruz y resucitó.

Él te quiere dar un regalo, y la forma de aceptarlo es diciéndole en oración, “Hoy, Jesús, quiero tomar el primer paso hacia ti. Quiero llegar a conocerte. Admito que no lo entiendo todo. Pero, por lo que sé, quiero abrir mi vida a ti. Yo quiero recibir el regalo que tienes para mí. Reemplaza mi culpabilidad con tu regalo del perdón. Reemplaza mis preocupaciones con tu regalo de paz. Reemplaza mi temor a la muerte con tu regalo de vida eterna. Ahora mismo yo te invito a que vengas y hagas tu hogar en mi corazón. Oro esto en tu nombre. Amén”.

End Your Day with a Good Word

“For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."

Matthew 6:13 (AMP)

How you end your day makes all the difference in how you sleep. And how you sleep makes all the difference in how you’re able to function the next day. To live with purpose, you need to end your day well.

End your day with a benediction—a good word. There is no better word than God’s Word. Read some promises from God. Be encouraged by truth, like this last line from the Lord’s Prayer: “For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen” (Matthew 6:13 AMP).

When you end your day with this verse, you’re going to sleep a whole lot better, because it contains two incredibly encouraging truths:

God is in control.

Politicians aren’t in control. Other nations aren’t. Your boss isn’t. God is ultimately in control. The Bible says, “The king’s heart is like a stream of water directed by the LORD; he guides it wherever he pleases” (Proverbs 21:1 NLT). That’s why the world changes when God’s people pray. He’s waiting for us to talk to him and surrender the burdens that are keeping us from rest.

God and his family win in the end!

This isn’t the end of the story. When you read the last chapter of the Bible, you discover that God wins. If the last thing you look at before you go to bed is either news or late-night TV hosts talking about the news, then you’ll go to bed depressed. But if you go to bed with God’s truth playing in your head, then you’ll go to bed with peace.

Holocaust survivor Corrie Ten Boom said, “If you look at the world, you’ll be distressed. If you look within, you’ll be depressed. If you look at Christ, you’ll be at rest.”

Where are you looking to find rest? Before you end your day, remind yourself of God’s truth. Say to him, “God, you’re in control. This is not the end of the story, and we win in the end. Good night, Lord. I’ll see you in the morning.”

Then, sleep in peace.

Talk It Over

What changes do you notice—physically, relationally, emotionally, and spiritually—when you get a good night’s sleep?

There is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ.

The Bible says all people fall short of God’s perfect standard. Yet God still loves you—even though you sin and you’re flawed. In fact, God loves you so much that he sent his Son, Jesus, to cleanse you from your sins and to bring you into the family of God.

If you’re ready to enter God’s family, here’s a prayer you can start with: “Dear God, I know that when I die I’m going to give an account of my life to you directly. I confess I have ignored you. I know I have sinned against you, and I have lived by my plan, not yours. I want that to change, starting right now. I want to turn away from my sins toward you.

“Thank you for sending Jesus to die for all that I’ve done wrong so that I don’t have to pay the penalty. I know that I don’t deserve your forgiveness. I know that only your grace can save me, Lord.

“Jesus, thank you for loving me so much that you took all my guilt on yourself. You made me acceptable for heaven, and I humbly ask you to save me. I ask you to save me from the sins and the habits that are messing up my life right now. I believe in you, Jesus. And I believe that you will keep your promise to save me instantly and certainly and completely and eternally. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”

Cómo Combatir las Tinieblas con la Luz

“No dejen que el mal los venza, más bien venzan el mal haciendo el bien”. Romanos 12:21 (NTV)

No sé si hay algo más contracultural en el mundo hoy en día que responder al mal con el bien. Y como es tan contracultural, puede ser una de las cosas más difíciles de hacer.

Cuando hay alguien tratando de causar problemas en tu vida, necesitas responder positivamente. “No dejen que el mal los venza, más bien venzan el mal haciendo el bien”  Romanos 12:21 (NTV).

Es un paso de fe, porque todo en ti probablemente quiere vencer el mal con el mal y luchar contra las tinieblas con más oscuridad. Eso es lo que el mundo te dice que hagas: pelea sucio. Es por eso por lo que se necesita fe para ir en contra de lo que tu carne y cultura te están diciendo que hagas y en su lugar confíes en Dios y respondas a las tinieblas con su luz.

Luchas contra la oscuridad con luz. Luchas contra el odio con amor. Luchas contra la crueldad con amabilidad. No dejas que el mal te supere. Superas el mal con el bien.

Eso es difícil de hacer. Pero se vuelve aún más difícil: “Amen a sus enemigos y oren por quienes los persiguen” Mateo 5:44 (NVI).

¿Es fácil? No. ¿Es inusual? Sí. ¿Es una elección? Absolutamente. Es tu elección ser mejor que el adversario. Elegir la luz sobre las tinieblas significa caminar por el camino de Jesús. Y Jesús tampoco se hubiera alejado de una pelea. Él daría su vida si fuera necesario para mostrar lo mucho que ama a alguien, y eso fue exactamente lo que hizo.

Dios no quiere que tomes represalias. También quiere que hagas el bien. Él quiere que muestres amor incluso a los corazones más duros, orando por ellos y pidiéndole a Dios que les dé corazones como el Suyo.

Jesús nos dio el mayor ejemplo de responder con amor y orar por los enemigos. Cuando sigas Su ejemplo, te destacarás en un mundo donde todos piensan en sí mismos primero.

Dar el paso de la fe para vencer el mal con el bien no siempre será fácil, pero te hará un testigo poderoso de Jesús.

Reflexiona sobre esto:

¿Cómo nos mostró Jesús cómo vencer el mal con el bien y amar a nuestros enemigos?¿Por qué crees que Dios quiere que oremos por las personas que nos intimidan o nos acosan? ¿Qué diferencia debería hacer?¿Alguna vez has orado constantemente por uno de tus enemigos? ¿Cómo cambió tu corazón hacia esa persona?

Hoy es el día para dar un paso de fe confiando en Jesús. Así es como empiezas.

La Biblia dice que Jesús entregó su vida para mostrar cuánto te ama. No tienes que ganarte el amor de Dios ni abrirte camino hacia el Cielo. La Biblia dice: “Dios los salvó por su gracia cuando creyeron. Ustedes no tienen ningún mérito en eso; es un regalo de Dios. La salvación no es un premio por las cosas buenas que hayamos hecho, así que ninguno de nosotros puede jactarse de ser salvo” Efesios 2:8-9 (NTV).

Si todavía no has confiado en Jesús y no te has comprometido a seguirlo, ¿por qué esperar más? Si estás listo para cruzar esa línea y tomar la decisión de creer en Jesucristo y seguirlo, haz esta oración:

“Querido Jesús, tú has prometido que si creo en ti, todo lo que he hecho mal será perdonado, aprenderé el propósito de mi vida, y algún día me aceptarás en tu hogar eterno en el Cielo.

Confieso mi pecado, y creo que eres mi Salvador. Tú has prometido que si confieso mi pecado y confío en ti, seré salvo. Confío en ti cuando dices que la salvación viene por gracia, por medio de la fe, y no por nada de lo que hago. Te recibo en mi vida como mi Señor. Hoy te voy a entregar cada parte de mi vida para que tú la administres. Tienes derecho a tomar las decisiones en mi vida.

Quiero usar el resto de mi vida para servirte en lugar de servirme a mí mismo. Te entrego mi vida y te pido que me salves y me aceptes en tu familia. En el nombre de Jesús. Amén”.

Start Your Day with Gratitude

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows."

James 1:17 (NIV)

Experts say that the attitude you have for the day is set in the first eight minutes of your day. Do you want to grumble, gripe, and grunt your way through the day, or do you want to be grateful?

The Bible says, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows” (James 1:17 NIV).

Gratitude gets you to focus on your loving Father who meets all your needs.

Don’t start your day with confession or requests. Start with gratitude. Think about God and his goodness. Tell him he’s a good Father, thanking him for being caring, close, and consistent. List the ways he’s been good to you. Tell him what you’re thankful for: running water, bed and a blanket, a warm house when it’s cold and a cold house when it’s hot outside. You don’t have to worry about the right thing to say. Just say what you feel and what’s on your mind.

One of the ways you can start your day with thankfulness is to make a playlist of songs. Choose songs of gratitude that remind you of who God is and what he has done for you. Turn it on as soon as you open your eyes so that your first thoughts are grateful. Worship is the best way to wake up!

You can also make a list of the things you’re thankful for and keep it near your bed or wherever you have a quiet time. A gratitude list can help keep you focused on God’s goodness, and then you can pour out your heart to him in thanks.

When you wake every morning, make sure the first thing you’re doing is thanking God for his consistent love and recalling all the ways that he’s good to you.

Get up with gratitude. It will change everything about your day!

Tus Debilidades Moldean tu Testimonio ante el Mundo

“Mis amados hermanos, quiero que sepan que todo lo que me ha sucedido en este lugar ha servido para difundir la Buena Noticia”. Filipenses 1:12 (NTV)

Tu testimonio al mundo saldrá de tus debilidades, no de tus fortalezas.

Mucha gente lo cree al revés: piensan que el mundo está impresionado por la prosperidad de los cristianos. Eso no impresiona al mundo. ¡Lo ven en todas partes! Lo que impresiona a los no creyentes es cómo los creyentes manejan la adversidad, no la prosperidad.

Tu sufrimiento, no tu éxito, te da credibilidad. Con tu fidelidad, no con tu fama, te ganas el respeto.

El apóstol Pablo fue un experto en usar su dolor como testigo. Él escribió desde un calabozo de una prisión en Roma, “mis amados hermanos, quiero que sepan que todo lo que me ha sucedido en este lugar ha servido para difundir la Buena Noticia” Filipenses 1:12 (NTV).

Pablo usó su dolor para modelar el mensaje que Dios le había dado. Mientras estaba encadenado en prisión, escribió cartas a las iglesias que se convirtieron en parte del Nuevo Testamento.

Pablo dijo: “En todo lo que hacemos, demostramos que somos verdaderos ministros de Dios” 2 Corintios 6:4 (NTV). Eso incluye cómo manejas el dolor, el fracaso, la derrota, los problemas, los errores, el pecado y todas las cosas malas que suceden en tu vida.

No se necesita el poder de Dios para manejar las cosas buenas; cualquiera puede manejarlas bien. Se necesita el poder de Dios para soportar pacientemente.

El mundo no tiene una buena respuesta sobre cómo aguantar. Pero los seguidores de Cristo soportan con paciencia el sufrimiento, las dificultades y los problemas de todo tipo, ya que es una forma de dar testimonio de las Buenas Nuevas de Jesús.

Tu ministerio más profundo saldrá de tu dolor más profundo, y el mensaje más profundo de tu vida saldrá de tu dolor más profundo.

En cada área de tu vida en la que has tenido dolor, tienes un testimonio. ¿Cómo lo usarás para ayudar a otros a pasar de la desesperación a la plenitud de la vida en Cristo?

Your Prayers Don’t Have to End

“Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion."

Ephesians 6:18 (NLT)

Did you know that you don’t have to end your prayers with “In Jesus’ name. Amen”? In fact, you don’t have to stop praying at all.

Prayer is a running conversation with God. It never has to end! You just talk to him like you would a friend or a loving Father. If something comes up, you talk to God about it. Then, maybe a minute or two goes by, and you talk to him about something else.

If you did not breathe, you would die. Prayer is spiritual breathing. You don’t think about breathing—you just do it. In the same way, prayer needs to become so natural that you don’t even think about it.

Right now, you may have to think to pray. But you can develop a habit of praying, where you don’t even have to think about doing it or what you’re going to say.

You’re good at talking to yourself. You talk to yourself about everything you experience—all the time! Start talking to God instead. To pray conversationally, you just talk to God about whatever you’re interested in at that particular moment.

“Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion” (Ephesians 6:18 NLT).

That means you can talk to God anywhere, anytime, about anything, as the Spirit leads. When you get an impression, pray about it!

Maybe you’re thinking that you often don’t feel like praying, because you don’t know what to say. But if you don’t feel like praying, it means you’re not praying what you feel.

When you don’t feel like praying, it means you’re praying about the wrong thing. God isn’t interested in what you’re not interested in. God already knows everything in your life. He just wants you to talk to him, like a father or a mother longs to have their children talk to them.

Keep a conversation with God going throughout your day. Talk to him about what you’re feeling, and you’ll feel like praying a lot more.

El Mejor Uso de tu Dolor más Profundo

“Él nos consuela en todas nuestras dificultades para que nosotros podamos consolar a otros. Cuando otros pasen por dificultades, podremos ofrecerles el mismo consuelo que Dios nos ha dado a nosotros. Pues, cuanto más sufrimos por Cristo, tanto más Dios nos colmará de su consuelo por medio de Cristo”. 2 Corintios 1:4-5 (NTV)

Cuando estás pasando por un dolor, puedes elegir concentrarte en ti mismo o en otras personas. Cuando eliges concentrarte en servir a otras personas que sufren, eso se llama sufrimiento redentor. Es el mejor y más elevado uso de tu dolor.

No importa el dolor que hayas pasado, Jesús quiere redimir tu sufrimiento. ¡No quiere desperdiciarlo! Quiere usarlo para ayudar a otras personas cuando tienen dolor.

¿Quién está mejor calificado para ayudar a un veterano con dificultades que alguien que ha sido un veterano con dificultades? ¿Quién está mejor calificado para ayudar a alguien que se recupera de una adicción a los medicamentos recetados que alguien que se ha recuperado de una adicción a los medicamentos recetados? ¿Quién podría ayudar mejor a alguien que sufre una enfermedad crónica que alguien que también ha sufrido de la misma manera?

Tu ministerio más grande saldrá de tu dolor más profundo. Si eres honesto con Dios, con los demás y contigo mismo acerca de cualquier lucha que hayas enfrentado, entonces esa lucha se convertirá en tu ministerio.

Compartir tus fortalezas no te hace sentir más cerca de alguien. Pero cuando compartas las experiencias que te han llevado a rendirte a Dios y a confiar en su fuerza, estarás conectado con los demás más profundamente de lo que puedes imaginar. ¿Por qué? Porque cuando tú, como persona quebrantada, compartes con otras personas quebrantadas cómo Dios te ha restaurado, no solo estás compartiendo algo que tienes en común. Compartes la esperanza de que otras personas también puedan experimentar la redención a través de Jesucristo.

Compartir tu dolor te ayuda a ti y a las personas que te rodean a crecer en Cristo. Usar tu dolor para servir a los demás es una forma de ministerio.

No desperdicies tu dolor. Deja que Dios lo use para tu mayor ministerio.
