Rise of Xosha Scavenger Hunt!

“They said alliances are needed but to remember that not all who claim to be our allies really are.” Rose replied.
Pyre cut in right after Rose stopped talking. “They also hinted that we have an enemy in the horde.”
Oceanus’ eyes shot open as large and round as discs. “What?!” Rose shot a glare at Pyre. “Pyre!”“He needed to know Rose!” Pyre shot back in defense.
“I know he did and I was going to tell him. Just not like this. I wanted to speak more with them on this before bringing it up.” Rose said softly, wondering if her words made any sense to them. From the way they were looking at her, she would guess not.
“I mean. What if they’re wrong? It’s possible, you know they’ve been wrong before!” Rose said desperately as Oceanus growled.
Pyre spoke up, voicing Oceanus’ exact thoughts. “They’ve never been wrong Rose. Not once! Maybe you’re the enemy they spoke about.”
“They have been wrong! I only tell you what’s important to the horde! I don’t tell you everything they tell me!” Rose said as her own anger began to build. She was really getting fed up with everyone automatically assuming things concerning her.
Pyre shoved her. His heart cried out as he reverted to his once natural treatment of the dragon he only minutes before had considered his friend. “What have they lied about then Rose?”
Losing the current, she spiraled toward Caprae. She caught a new current right before she would have slammed quite ungracefully into the ground. “They said someone would love me for me! They said I wouldn’t be an outcast once we found Caprae. And for a little while I thought maybe they were right about that, too. But they weren’t, they were wrong!” She turned and flew off refusing to let the two males see her cry.
“Rose, wait!” Pyre called out trying to fly after her. As her form turned into a spec on the horizon, he stopped with a sigh and hung his head. “I’m sorry…” He muttered as he silently cursed himself for his stupidity.

The Awakening by Christy Dorrity

. . . because some Celtic stories won’t be contained in myth.

A little magic has always run in sixteen-year-old McKayla McCleery's family—at least that’s what she’s been told. McKayla’s eccentric Aunt Avril travels the world as a psychic for the FBI, and her mother can make amazing delicacies out of the most basic of ingredients. But McKayla doesn't think for a second that the magic is real—it’s just good storytelling. Besides, McKayla doesn’t need magic. She recently moved to beautiful Star Valley, Wyoming, and already she has a best friend, a solo in her upcoming ballet recital—and the gorgeous guy in her physics class keeps looking her way.

When an unexpected fascination with Irish dance leads McKayla to seek instruction from the mute, crippled janitor at her high school, she learns that her family is not the only one with unexplained abilities. After Aunt Avril comes to Star Valley in pursuit of a supernatural killer, people begin disappearing, and the lives of those McKayla holds most dear are threatened.

When the janitor reveals that an ancient curse, known as a geis, has awakened deadly powers that defy explanation, McKayla is forced to come to terms with what is real and what is fantasy. A thrilling debut novel based in Celtic mythology, Awakening is a gripping young adult fantasy rife with magic, romance, and mystery.

Demon Days 9: Mythology: The Wicked by Helen Boswell

MYTHOLOGY (Mythology #1)
Hope Gentry doesn’t believe in Fate. Born with an unusual power to see the dark memories of those around her, Hope just wants to be a normal teenager. But on the first day of her senior year of high school, she finds herself irresistibly drawn to a transfer student named Micah Condie. At first glance, Micah seems like a boy that most girls would dream about. But when Hope's powers allow her to discover Micah's darkest secret, she quickly becomes entangled in the lives of mythical entities she never dreamed existed. Was this her destiny all along? And will her powers help her survive the evil of the Demon Impiorum?
Mythology isn’t just for English class anymore.

MYTHOLOGY: THE WICKED
(Mythology #2)

A demon with a pure heart, Micah Condie lives his life by a code of ethics, but breaking that code may be the only way for him to survive. A supernatural entity in her own right, Hope Gentry would do anything in her power to protect her loved ones, but she may be the one who puts them in peril.
When the Demon Impiorum challenges the laws that keep guardians and demons in balance, ancient enforcers of justice intervene. Micah, Hope, and their mentor Jonathan become entangled in a conspiracy that will test even the deepest love and trust.
Someone will commit an act of betrayal. Someone will forever abandon a loved one.
Someone will enter THE WICKED.

Demon Days 7: Shadow Spinner by Andrew Leon

Tiberius has always thought of himself as a normal 10-year-old boy. Maybe he's a little smarter than everyone else, but that's still normal. He's scared of shadows, but everyone's scared of something, right? His mother's completely paranoid and called the cops the one time, just one time, he went over to a friend's house after school, but, still, he's normal even if his mother is not. At least, that's what he thinks until the day his mother finally decides to tell him about his father, and she tells him things that convince him that one of them is crazy, and he's pretty sure it's not him.

That is until the Man with No Eyes shows up and his father falls out of the sky.
Goodreads ~ Amazon

Interview . . .
What inspired me to write Shadow Spinner?
That's actually a convoluted question. Initially, I just wanted to write a story about a kid dealing with a common-type fear. Tib is scared of shadows, which isn't actually common, but I wanted it to have a unique spin and not just be "scared of the dark." Then, I needed to write a different short story for a writing group I was involved with at the time, so I wrote a story, because Tib was on my mind, about Tib's mother. As it turned out, Tib's mother ended up being a character from a then unfinished story from several years prior, "The Evil That Men Do." That took Tib off in a completely different direction than just being a boy scared of shadows. Around the same time, I started teaching a creative writing class at my kids' school, so I thought I would write more short stories about Tib to go along with the assignments that I was giving the kids to show them, "hey, I'm doing these, too." It grew into the book from that, and Spinner is dedicated to that group of kids.
What is my favorite part of writing?
Well... not the editing, that's for sure. Having done it? No, that's not it, either, although I do really like it when I have a completed project in front of me. I guess just the doing of it. Working out the story. Pounding it into shape. And, sometimes, that's what it feels like I'm doing, pounding it into shape.
Which character from one of my own books would I be?
Man, I don't even know. See, I know what's coming up for all of the characters that I'm working on, right now, and I don't think there is a single one of them I would choose to step into.
Shadow Spinner theme song?
Hmm... I really don't know. Nothing is coming to mind at all, and I don't really listen to the kind of music that most people would probably associate with the kind of story that Spinner is. Maybe, though, "The Devil Went Down To Georgia," which might seem like an odd choice, but, if you read the whole book, I think it makes sense.
