Demon Day 2: Awakening the Fire by Jake Bonsignore

Breena Taljain’s idyllic days in Araboth came to a skidding halt when circumstances forced her into the dangerous hinterlands. The dire sacrifice she made to protect her comrades tainted her heart with hatred and despair. To cleanse herself she must outrun Death’s relentless pursuit and venture into the bleak unknown. With the odds stacked against her, stumbling into love when she least expects it may very well be her saving grace.Meanwhile, succumbing to the Patriarch’s devious traps has Galbrecht Atalir questioning his motives. The folly of his recklessness has left him physical scarred and mentally traumatized. Now he must overcome more adversity as the wrath of the Sin Ministry bears down upon him. He will need more than wits and quick fists to find the truth he has sought for seven years.Alas, every second Breena is apart from Galbrecht draws her further into strife. With her world rapidly crumbling inwards, she puts everything on the line for a last stand against the ruthless force that threatens to destroy all she holds dear….

Interview . . .

What inspired you to write Inferno Unleashed series?
What inspired me to write the Inferno Unleashed series is a song called "Firewalk" by Beseech. I was sitting in my University library 'studying' for an upcoming management final when the song came on by chance on my iPod. The way the strong, male voice (who I later imagined as Seledor) mixed with the fragile but determined female voice (who I later determined as Breena) gave me the faint sparking of the novel. A few thoughts, a little bit of fantasy, and the two book series that is Empryeal Illusions and Awakening the Fire came to be!

What is your favorite part of writing?
My favorite part of writing is not so much creating new scenes, but packing each character / detail with some form of symbolism and each scene with thought-provoking ideology. I like to write novels that flow very well and appear very straight forward, even though there is more gray when it comes to stereotypes and pre-dispositions than black and white. Also, there is nothing more that I love than crafting a new world and having readers not only thoroughly enjoy it, but envision it in the detailed way I do.
If you had to be a character in your own books, which character would you be?
If I had to be a character in one of my novels I would definitely pick Ophion. he is only in Awakening the Fire, but I modeled his character and personality very similar to my own. Of course, being able to do hydromancy - water magic - and overcome prior regrets is always a great plus!
If you had to give "Awakening the fire" a theme song, what would the song be?
Giving Awakening the Fire an overall theme song is very difficult in many ways because certain songs are super fitting for different scenes / chapter only. The one that fits the novel as a whole the most closely is "The Enigma of Life" by Sirenia. It's definitely not the most cheerful song, but then again, Awakening the Fire is a more serious tale than Empyreal Illusions.

Today starts Demon Days . . . each day from now until September 27th I will be posting about demons! Featuring stories about them, the authors that write those stories, and giveaways, all leading to the release of  my debut, Only Half Alive
Title: The Prophecy (The Children of Lilith Volume 3) ~ Author: C. David Belt ~ Genre: LDS, Horror, Vampire ~ Tour Host: Lady Amber's Tours

For 6,000 years, Lilith and her Children have walked the earth, hunting, preying, seducing, corrupting, ruling from the shadows...until now.
An ancient prophecy, spoken by Adam, Lilith's grandfather, foretells her doom. She will do anything, corrupt any innocent, murder countless mortals to save herself.
To survive, she knows she must destroy Carl and Moira Morgan.
The war has begun.
And Carl and Moira know, win or lose, it all ends here.

Interview . . .

What inspired you to write The Children of Lilith series?
“The Children of Lilith” started as an image in my head.  I saw a dark scene in a warehouse filled with shadows.  Vampires encircled a mortal, “ordaining” him as a new vampire.  I knew two very contradictory things about the scenario: 1: Vampirism was a choice, i.e., no-one could be forced into vampirism unwillingly; 2: The man at the center of the circle was unwilling; he was becoming a vampire against his will.  I’ve always enjoyed a good vampire story, but the idea of forced eternal damnation always rubbed me the wrong way.  And yet, in life, choices areforced upon us by others.  So I wrote a story about the world’s first and only unwilling vampire.  I was also inspired by the true story of a woman in Oregon, an LDS wife and mother, who went into the hospital for a routine procedure, received a tainted blood transfusion, and developed AIDS as a result.  The choices of a stranger changed her life and those of her family.  Yet she chose to not become bitter, to not curse God, but to make the best of the life someone else had forced upon her.  In her case, a priesthood blessing cured her, but she made the choice to accept and move forward in faith before she was cured.
What is your favorite part of writing?
When a character speaks up in my head and says something like, “I would nae ever say such a thing, laddie!  Here’s what I’d say…”  Then I know the character has come alive for me.
If you had to be a character in your own books, which character would you be?
Carl Morgan is based largely on me and my life experiences.  He’s a husband and father, and that’s central to his life.  His LDS faith defines him.  His work experience parallels my own, including the Air Force and the B-52.  I wouldn’t want to be a vampire, but the flying would tons of fun.
If you had to give "The Prophecy" a theme song, what would the song be?
Non Nobis, Domine, The Mormon Tabernacle Choir (Couldn’t find MTC video, so pulled the one from Henry V.)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1GDRx-F1C0

Feudlings in Flames by Wendy Knight

Ari thought being in love with her prophesied nemesis sucked. But being responsible for her best friend's kidnapping? It sucks worse.
Ari and Shane thought they’d beaten Fate and ended the three-hundred year war plaguing their people. They thought love had won. But they were so, so wrong.
Instead of graduating high school like the normals, they’re in a battle to save Charity – Shane’s cousin, Ari's best friend, and the seer who might hold the key to ending the war for good. To do that, they’re forced to accept help from a boy they aren’t even sure they can trust. He’s powerful and knows spells even Ari’s never heard of, but he’s also secretive and has a past he’s determined to keep hidden . Add to that the fact that he has his sights set on Ari, and Shane would rather do without his help.
Ari has bigger problems than mysterious boys and their strange powers. The powerful Edren Family is hunting her brother, and she can't very well save him or Charity while they’re constantly being attacked by her own people. To stop the raids, she has to take the fight to them. But if she starts hunting the family that raised her, what kind of monster will she be?
Fate still waits for the death of one by the hand of the other.

Author BioWendy Knight was born and raised in Utah by a wonderful family who spoiled her rotten because she was the baby. Now she spends her time driving her husband crazy with her many eccentricities (no water after five, terror when faced with a live phone call, etcetera, etcetera). She also enjoys chasing her three adorable kids, playing tennis, watching football, reading, and hiking. Camping is also big: her family is slowly working toward a goal of seeing all the National Parks in the U.S. You can usually find her with at least one Pepsi nearby, wearing ridiculously high heels for whatever the occasion may be. And if everything works out just right, she will also be writing.

Interview with Wendy . . .
If you could travel to any time in history, when would you visit?W: I would go back to ancient Greece. I wonder if I could write that trip off as research…
If you could travel anywhere, on earth or off, where would you go?Africa. I’ve been obsessed with it since I was tiny.
What color would you wear if you had only one choice? Red. No, black. No…Red. Yes, red.
Describe your dream writing spot.On a balcony overlooking the ocean, so I can hear the waves while I write. And that’s all-just the waves. No sirens, no screaming children (lets pretend they’re sleeping peacefully in the background), no barking dogs. Just the waves. Also, there would be pillows. Lots of pillows.

Saying Goodbye . . .

No, not for good! I simply have about two months of work left with Only Half Alive and only two weeks to get it done. So I must bid thee farewell whilst I edit. I will be back as soon as I can be.

And I am sorry to say that I will not be blogging until closer to release date. This means that the Demon Days event will be put on hold until mid-September.

Thank you for all your support!

Persephone by Kaitlin Bevis

There are worse things than death, worse people too. The "talk" was bad enough, but how many teens get told that they're a goddess? When her mom tells her, Persephone is sure her mother has lost her mind. It isn't until Boreas, the god of  winter, tries to abduct her that she realizes her mother was telling the truth. Hades rescues her, and in order to safely bring Persephone to the Underworld he marks her as his bride. But Boreas will stop at nothing to get Persephone. Despite her growing feelings for Hades, Persephone wants to return to the living realm. Persephone must find a way to defeat Boreas and reclaim her life.
