Review of Safe House (Steel Infidels) by Dez Burke
As far as I know, this is Author Dez Burke’s first foray into writing a series, and boy oh boy, book one in the Steel Infidels is hot. Extremely hot! Um… Did I say hot?
Safe House is a short read about an attorney/biker boy Flint Mason and good girl/veterinarian Dr. Kendra Shaw. He’s all alpha; she’s headstrong, and by the book’s end, one can see that they’re going to make an awesome team.
I highly anticipate reading book two of the series, and based on what I’ve read in book one, I envision that book two will have lots of conflict and drama, between the Steel Infidels and their rivals, the Liberators. Plus, there’s tension between Flint and his younger brother, Sam. And then there’s the mystery surrounding Flint’s best friend’s murder.
I’m delighted that the sexy-as-sin Flint, with his muscles of steel and his scintillating tattoos, is deeply attracted to a full-figured, black woman. A woman like Kendra, who’s certainly not like the kind of women he dated in the past. However, the man is quick to appreciate Kendra’s outward beauty (and of course, the beauty that lies within). The man has good taste. And the man knows how to please his woman, in bed and out of it.
It’s true that Flint and Kendra’s relationship moves quickly, but I read purely to escape the rigors of reality and have fun, so the rate at which the two consummate their attraction to each other doesn’t deter me from giving Safe House the 5-stars it deserves.
Once again, kudos, Ms. Burke, for a job well-done!

Review of Skin Deep by Dez Burke
Review of Skin Deep by Dez Burke
I’ve read many modern day twists, or versions if you prefer, to the “Beauty and Beast” fairytale, but Dez Burke’s “Skin Deep” was one of the most endearing I’ve read in a long time. In this story, an aspiring actress, Angela Neil, was given the perfect (and paid) opportunity to not only ease her financial burdens, but also to be NASCAR Champion, Shane Davis’, ‘fake girlfriend’ so that he could convince his parents and the rest of the world he’d started to live again after a fiery crash left him scarred. However, what happened in this beautifully written story was a man who had hidden behind the shadows (both literally and figuratively) regained his confidence and found a reason to live and love again.
One of the things I loved about this romance story is the way Ms. Burke created the sexual tension between Shane and Angela, which started from the very first time they saw each other. What’s more, there were times when they almost did ‘it’ and when ‘it’ didn’t happened, I was sitting there on pins and needles waiting for the time they would actually get it on. But I must applaud Ms. Burke at this juncture, because when Shane and Angela finally succumbed to the attraction which simmered every time they were in the same room with each other, it wasn’t gratuitous at all. Not. One. Bit. This was because Shane and Angela had invested much time and effort into getting to know each other, developing mutual respect, and finally falling in love (although they didn’t admit it to themselves or each other as yet) so the act of making love was just a natural culmination of what they meant to each other.
Another thing I loved about this story was the way the heroine Angela wasn’t afraid to express her wants and desires inside or outside of the bedroom, how she was determined to play the role of her life to the best of her ability, and most of all, how she wasn’t repelled by Shane’s scars, even from the very first time she met him.
Also, I believe Ms. Burke deserved kudos for the way she made her characters, even millionaire Playboys, very relatable, since they do have the same foibles of human nature just as ordinary folks do. So I got a glimpse of Shane’s insecurities, his hurt and anger when people looked away from his scars in fear or disgust, and how he’d convinced himself he wasn’t good enough for the lovely Ms. Angela Neil.
As of today, “Skin Deep” is definitely one of Ms. Burke’s best works for the year. However, I just get this strange feeling her best is yet to come.

The Impossible Possible by Deatri King-Bey ~ #bookspotlight #authorRT #Tweets4Authors @ReadingRomance #BYNR
I’m pleased to have my mentor, Deatri King-Bey, today. She’s here to introduce her latest release, The Impossible Possible, to you. I think you’ll enjoy this visit…
Book Intro: The Impossible Possible by Deatri King-Bey
One of the reasons I love romance so much is taking the common themes and doing something completely different with them. My favorite traditional romance theme has always been the baby daddy theme. In it the heroine hides the fact that she’s had the hero’s child from him. Then years later, they meet again and he discovers the secret! Yeah, I love that one. In my new title, The Impossible Possible, I decided to switch it up a bit. This time the hero hides the fact that he’s the heroine’s son’s father. Hmmm, impossible you think? After you read The Impossible Possible, let me know what you think.
The Impossible Possible
Bryanna Martin has given up on finding her happily ever after. The only way she’ll fall in love and marry is if God sends her Mr. Right to her door. Since she doesn’t believe that will happen, she devotes her life to her adopted son and career. Then the impossible happens, the perfect man literally shows up at her door. Drawn to the handsome stranger, Bryanna wonders if this is one impossible that can become possible.
Alejandro Montenegro, CEO of a Global 500 corporation, dropped everything to catch a flight and claim a son he didn’t know about. When he arrives, he discovers his child is not in foster care being abused, but in the loving care of a golden goddess. To spare his son from losing the only mother he has ever known, Alejandro decides to remain silent about his son’s paternity and pursue Bryanna, but then the impossible happens. He falls in love and knows she will leave him if she discovers his secret.

Smile Somebody Loves You New Year’s Eve Blog Hop
Welcome to the first annual Smile Somebody Loves You New Year’s Eve Blog Hop. It’s a privilege to be among this elite group of authors and bloggers, especially as I’ve become pretty good friends with some of them, and have had the pleasure of reading some of their work. Close to fifty authors are part of this blog hop. Feel free to pay them a visit (you may find the list of blogs below).
In order to welcome the dawn of a New Year, I want to take this opportunity to briefly reflect on the year which has passed by so quickly. This year, my family continued to play a pivotal part in my life. My husband, Sam, continued to be a supportive, compassionate and loving person, who took my breath away when I least expected it. Moreover, each of my three kids grew a few inches, and added a few pounds to their frames. It’s interesting that my thirteen year-old made it her business to remind me not to panic about a few additional pounds, by saying, from time to time, “We’re growing kids, Mommy. What else do you expect?” Well, I really expected to make fewer trips to the supermarket, but that didn’t happen. Not with “growing kids”.
And I’ve adjusted to living in my country of birth, after living overseas for almost fifteen years. I still feel nostalgic at times, wishing I was in that place where I can still sleep with my doors unlocked, and there’s no need for me to wake up quite so early to get the kids ready for school. Yet, I’m mindful that the move was for the very best for my family, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
What do I look forward to in the New Year? Hmmm… I look forward to forging even closer bonds of love with my family and friends. And, yes, I want to take better care of me: my physical, spiritual and emotional self. I also look forward to discovering new authors and reading their books, as well as establishing better networks with those with whom I already have a relationship. After all, I hope they’ll learn from me as much as I expect to learn from them. Finally, I want to see tangible improvements in the quality of my writing. In other words, I want each book I write in 2014 to be better than the one I wrote before it. Just recently, my first, full-length novel, the Right Kind of Love, was released, and I look forward to completing the four other books, in this Loving A Morrison series.
It will be remiss of me if I failed to mention how much I appreciated you stopping by and visiting me today. For that reason, I want to pick one, two or maybe three winners. What’s the prize? MIDNIGHT MISTLETOE (The Golden Pack Alphas, Book I) ~ Laurel Cremant ~ #bookspotlight #authorRT #Tweets4Authors @ReadingRomance #BYNR
Author Laurel Cremant is back again, but this time it’s to spotlight her second December release, Midnight Mistletoe. In case you missed her first December release, you may click here.
*************************************************************************************************
AUTHOR: Laurel Cremant
GENRE: Paranormal Romance
LENGTH: Short Story
PUBLISHER: Winged Moon Publishing
WARNING: This short novelette/short story of 8,000 words is the first book in this serial and contains snarky dialogue, extremely inappropriate uses of mistletoe, alpha HEROINES and the weres smart enough to chase them.
All were-hybrid, Georgia Walker wants for Christmas is to spend some time away from her pack and in particular, away from one increasingly dangerous enforcer turned Beta. She has every intention of spending her days basking in the warm Caribbean sun and indulging in an island fling, or two. Anything to forget the way a certain were made her pulse race and skin tingle.
Marcus Legrand has only one goal this holiday season, bring Georgia home and finally claim her for his own. Convincing the strong willed ice princess will take all of his skill and patience, but Marcus is no stranger to hunting prey. He has every intention of putting both his rank and heart on the line.
EXCERPT:
Taking a deep breath, she reached her arms overhead, arched her back and inhaled the balmy salted air.
She could almost hear her muscles sigh, but despite the relaxation attempting to spread through her limbs, her body tingled with a tension she knew settled too deep.
Her heat cycle was starting, and there was nothing she could do to relieve the discomfort.
Well almost nothing.
Dropping her hands back down to her sides, she swept her gaze across the small beach. It wasn’t crowded but had a fair number of sunbathers and Zen cravers. And most importantly it had men looking for the same thing she was—a little fun, forgetfulness and zero strings.
Although heat pooled to her center, her stomach rolled in apprehension.
In the past she’d had no problems with finding a willing male to sleep with when she was in heat. She enjoyed sex, and although each year her parents hoped she would chose a permanent mate, no man in or outside of her pack inspired much feeling or devotion. At least not enough for her to be shackled to for life.
But last year, because of The-Wolf-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named, no one appealed to her.
Instead of rolling around for several hours with a well-endowed chosen playmate, she’d remained locked in her home for days with her vibrator and a healthy supply of batteries.
She had no intentions of repeating the experience. This week, she planned on proving to both her body and wolf, that Marcus wasn’t the only man capable of making her hot.
Her gaze combed the area, looking for a good candidate.
One particular man caught her eye.
He’d been swimming for the last hour, his caramel arms cutting through the water in languid strokes. But now he rose out of the surf resembling a naughty sea nymph, his strong legs leading up to deep blue board shorts. Dry, she guessed the swimming trunks were perfectly modest—but wet they molded to his thick muscled thighs and cupped his cock in a way that left very little to the imagination. And since Georgia’s imagination was better than the average wolf’s she bit back a groan and clenched her thighs tight.
Yum.
Pushing her sunglasses up to her hair, she licked her lips as her gaze traced the diamond bright droplets of water running down his hard chest. They sluiced down his body, aided by the tight ridges of muscles along his abdomen, tunneling down to what looked like one hell of a stocking stuffer.
Merry Christmas to me.
Yes, an island getaway was proving to be the perfect holiday treat.
Her gaze meandered back up his chest and after making a brief note of thick smooth lips and tempting dimples, she made eye contact with her merman come to life.
His eyes gleamed with interest and her lips turned up in her best come-hither smile. He took a step forward and then froze, his gaze focusing on something just over her left shoulder. Shaking his head he turned and continued walking down the beach.
What the hell!
She frowned at his retreating back. Admittedly she was no super model but, she’d never had a problem with luring men her way.
A long shadow fell over her and it was her turn to freeze. Despite blocking out the sun, a heated scorch rippled down her body as the approaching shadow crept down her body. Her nipples pebbled to thick points, her pussy clenched and a slow growl worked its way up her throat.
Only one thing made her body react this way and she’d deliberately left it back in Golden Valley.
“Hello Gigi. Miss me?”
