The Almost Home Invasion

I meant to post a month ago, but lost track of time.

I’m teaching two of my sons how to drive. This is, without a doubt, the most difficult thing about being a parent. For their entire lives, I kept them safe when they were in a vehicle. Now I’m putting them behind the wheel. At the mercy of other drivers. I don’t know if you’ve seen how people drive these days. Like every traffic light is the green flag at a NASCAR race. Like their driving at the Indy 500 if there’s more than one lane. Like rul...

February Fun

DAWNBREAKER launches in just a few days! If you pre-order the e-book, you’ll get it at the lower price. THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO HAS PRE-ORDERED SO FAR! Pre-orders help authors determine if readers are eager for the book. If I think my pre-order numbers for Dawnbreaker look good, I’ll continue with pre-orders for future books. Otherwise, I don’t think I will. Amazon emails me every couple of days to “make sure my book is uploaded and ready,” and I panic. Yes, the book is uploaded. I’ve previewed i...

Do Dragons Eat Meat?

Thank you to everyone who has pre-ordered Dawnbreaker! I’m so grateful to you all for reading my books and giving them a chance. Honestly, this is the best gift a writer can get!

I’m organizing a local book launch event. If you’re near Kawartha Lakes, Ontario, I’d love to see you! The launch will be at the Kawartha Lakes Museum in Lindsay on Saturday, March 4. It will be a drop-in type of event. More details coming soon!

Book 3 is cooking along nicely. I have a third of a draft so far and am addin...

Snow Days, Pastries and a Snippet

It looks pretty, but driving in this weather is the worst. Blizzard conditions and icy roads mean travelling at 40 km/h and white-knuckling it.

It’s a weird winter. One day the sky will dump 20 cm of ...

DAWNBREAKER - chapter 2

As I have every day for the past three weeks, I’m sitting here with my morning coffee, checking my email, waiting to announce the pre-order for DAWNBREAKER is live. This announcement was supposed to be the big Day 1 reveal of the Ivory Countdown to Christmas. (Actually, I was expecting to announce the pre-order in October, but my edits didn’t come back until mid-December, right when Amazon shut down for two weeks over the holidays.). I put my request in for author copies, and until I have receiv...

Post Christmas

Christmas is over for another year. We were hit with a major blizzard that started Christmas Eve and lasted until Boxing Day. I didn’t mind. I like being cozy with nowhere to go. Unfortunately, my eldest son got stuck in a snow drift on his way to see us....

Cupcakes for Christmas: a Julia Ivory story

The events of this story take place after CARRION and before WINTERSTRUCK.

Many thanks to Vickie for proofreading for me! Any errors are mine.

This story was inspired by the movie, Die Hard. How many Die Hard references can you find?

The phone rang. I...
