A Dangerous Faith

The Passover

Benjamin shivered in the morning air, a grave expression deepening the lines around his eyes. He wasn't an old man. His face was just prematurely aged from the years of labor under the hot Egyptian sun. This morning Benjamin's dark brown eyes were troubled. It was all so confusing.

Young Ben, his firstborn son, stood beside him with Baby Sarah in his arms. Only a father could see the fear in the boy's eyes. He was proud of his son; the last few months had really matured him...

That’s a Good Question

And God said, “Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell me if you have understanding…when the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy…

Or who shut in the sea with doors when it burst out from the womb, when I made clouds its garment and thick darkness its swaddling band, and prescribed limits for it and set bars and doors and said, ‘This far shall you come, and no further, and here your proud waves be stayed?” Job 38

Caroline and The Toilet Booger

Hey y'all, this is my weekly video posted at All Things Southern yesterday. It occured to me that all of my blog readers may not know the website  features are updated weekly.  Heck, you may not even know I have a weekly newsletter you can subscribe to in order to get those features delivered straight to your email box. (If you aren't subscribed, I sure wish you would consider it.) That said, I couldn't stand the thought of y'all missing this one. I do so love that Caroline!

Hugs,

Shellie

When you "can't get no satisfaction"

As the world wakes around me, this thought settles deep in my soul. I believe that as long as anything else in this world satisfies His children, yes– even if they are "spiritual undertakings", divine reading, study, corporate fellowship, anything— as long as anything else satisfies us, He withholds Himself. Oh, to find no other satisfaction that His reality in me.

I Refuse to Grow Up

It's not all I thought it would be so I refuse to do it– this growing up…

The stillness of my dock devotion was broken this morning by — wait for it–minnows!!! Schools of glorious minnows so ambitious and animated they were actually clearing the surface. Cyndie, Rhonda, are y'all there? Do you see 'em in the top right picture? No? Okay, how about the ones I zoomed in on for y'all at the bottom– the ones I took on my belly, hoping I wouldn't drop my iPhone in the lake and wondering how I would ...

Dancing Eyes Linger

Dancing eyes. I substituted in the children's class at church this morning and all afternoon I've found my eyes wandering back to those kids and their dancing eyes. I filled in because I was needed. Who knew I would enjoy them so much? Not me.  I like, no, I LOVE sharing the word with women–  that's not news. But those kids, they captured my heart in a totally different way.

With one big whoosh those dancing eyes took me back to my childhood and I was looking at mini me. They were at once...

Motown Monday at ATS

Hey y'all! Busy day straight ahead but I wanted to share a thought from this morning's dock devotions. I've told y'all how much I enjoy taking secular music and swapping the lyrics for sacred ones, right? Well this morning I rocked to this Motown fav-

A thank you note from the bottom of my heart!

Hey folks, I need a visit with my friends. For those of you who aren't subscribed to the All Things Southern weekly that I send from my website (and if you aren't, I wish you would!), and to those who may not follow me on twitter and aren't my friends on Facebook, I'm hoping this one update will get to everyone in our "tribe" here and maybe explain why the website isn't updated and the emag didn't go out this week!

I've been in Houston since last Friday with my daughter's family. Our youngest ...
