Templeton's Weekend at the SIBA Fair

And now, without further ado, I bring you the promised SIBA report with a warning, I'm fairly sure I'm about to be major wordy…

SIBA stands for Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance and last weekend was the big fall bash, a veritable smorgasbord of book writers/bloggers/sellers and lovers all gathered in the beautiful historic city of Charleston, South Carolina. The best way I can describe my response to such a cornucopia of events all built around one of my greatest loves– words– is to...

Misc. Monday, Madness, and the return of the Caption Game

Hey everyone! Just got back from a birthday lunch with family. (Happy Birthday GrandBuzzy!) Thinking of how I owe y'all a post from this weekend's SIBA event in South Carolina and I will get to it, yes I will. I have tons of stories and pics piled up for y'all, but right now I'm prepping for this evening's radio show. I'll be live from 5:00 to 6:00 on TALK540 out of Northeast LA. As always, ATS LIVE will also be streaming in real time from my site. I hope you'll make time to join me. I plan t...

Update: What the Mighty Mississippi Did This Spring

Many of you will remember that this past spring my small town was  living under the threat of a main levee break, even as water flooded over an older levee that protected a number of area farms. I wrote about it here.

Sunday evening we drove out to see the damage firsthand from where the old levee gave way as work is to begin this week on filling in the great crater the rushing water carved out of the landscape. I had seen this from a small plane while the area was flooded but what I saw...

How Well Do You Know Sue Ellen?

Hey y'all– I recently joined Goodreads and I'm trying to find my way around that community to visit with readers whenever I can manage to grab a spare second– but I'm treading lightly, yes I am.

See, I recieved one of those interesting autoresponder "author not to-do email" when I signed up (apparently they've had authors who stalk the poor readers– hence the need for the rules, which makes me wonder how anyone with ever present deadlines could have the time and engergy to stalk anyone other ...

Where were you… 9/11/2001

It's familiar in the most painful way, this need to wring my thoughts out onto the page, that I might see them clearer, that I might remember that day and pay my respects to those who lost their lives. But again, like so many times in the last decade…I'm hesitant because I didn't lose anyone in the terror that was Sept.11, 2001.

I wasn't even present, not physically. I was miles away, having just finished my morning devotion and clicked on the TV in time to see some news anchor, whose...

LifeGivers

Unless a grain of wheat dies it won't produce a harvest. Likewise, in dying to self we can become a life giving spirit.

Purple Pink Dock Devotions

Hey y'all,  brief post here, but I wanted to make good on that pic promise I made y'all a couple mornings ago. That would be when I just absolutely had to stop and twitter/facebook y'all about Father tinging the lake in purple and pink during my  my early morning dock devotions.  Please do not adjust your color monitor. :) This is His work and it's as unrivaled as ever.

The heavens declare the glory of the Lord and the earth reveals His handiwork. Ps. 19:1

Can I have an amen?

Hugs,

Shellie

ATS Facebook Funny of the Week Nomination

Earlier in the week, I got an email that said one of my friends had posted a picture of me on Facebook.

Clicking through, I found this:

Now, in her defense, my new Facebook friend was sharing the picture to opine on this http://shellierushingtomlinson.wordpress.com/2011/08/30/anthrax-in-lp/ post. She wasn't necessarily saying I looked like a pig, (I don't think!). However,  for a belle is who is out there trying to promote her last book, "Sue Ellen's Girl Ain't Fat, She Just Weighs...
