We have one home, and we must take care of it. We, all children...
We have one home, and we must take care of it. We, all children of the same gods, all faces of the same soul, must do better. We must save this planet, this gorgeous mother that sustains us. We must unite as one thing, strong against her decay. Today is Earth Day, and we must behave as though all days are. Save this place, this beautiful, awe inspiring, perfect place. She deserves better, and so better we must become.

The illumination of what
is vital, what matters
when pushing becomes
shoving.
Thought it mattered,
the car we drove, the clothes
we wore, thought
it was the wealth we chased,
the accumulation,
mountains of shit
that overflow into garage,
into back closet bursting
at its hinges.
Took losing to know,
took an entire planet
gasping for air
to show us the truth
we’d lost sight of
it’s people, it’s
reaching out and holding
onto another human being,
it’s arms around arms
and it’s hands in hands
and it’s the hundreds
of friendships
we didn’t even know
qualified as such.
It’s us we miss,
the collective we spread
out like wildflowers,
all waiting once again
for the rain.

are shuddering.
Buds came when Spring
was flirtatious,
opening early though
they knew better, though
