I am minuscule, I am tiny, I am a mote of dust, I am a silhouette of a shadow. I am one moment on a timeline unimaginable. Nevertheless, I am here, I am alive, I am a piece of a puzzle bigger than the universe. I am a cog in a wheel that keeps all things spinning. I am the breath of a thousand gods, dancing through the long grass.

Bones speak, if you listen, whisper
out truths we hide in marrow,
in stubborn blood that won’t
stop flowing.  Listen they creak out
in the sounds they make,
this story is not over,
there is more here to say.

Can’t you hear yours, branches
as bones and roots that embrace
the ground that holds you,
isn’t it saying the same,
the wind in your leaves
as I sleep in your shade?  
Look how tall you’ve grown
in the years you waited

Mine say this, these
long-winded bones:
This road is a ring road,
circular and stormy and
rough for miles, but a
ring road all the same.  
Every step we take in
opposite directions,
is one step closer to
reunion.  

Home is wherever we
meet again,
somewhere in the
middle.
