Study the sounds
and find peace in them,
a slight wind
in a tall tree,
some shaking from
footsteps in the bathroom
above.  This is your voice
tired from early morning,
this is the cracking
of my smile.
Motion has a noise,
louder when closer
and I know when you’re near,
silence too, a melody,
like waves
on the shoreline
of my eardrums, steady
rhythm of nothing.

Typewriter Series #2850 by Tyler Knott Gregson

I’ve noticed a shift on the ol’ Instagram over the last few years, and to be truthful, it’s made me wonder how to go forward.  I most often write longer poems than most poets on here, and as such, they tend to get scrolled over a lot.  People are busy creatures, and phones are small screens, so sometimes if you’re not in the mood for it, you may go by it.  This is ok.  SO, I’m going to be trying this out for awhile, and we’ll see how it goes…I’m not willing to stop writing how I love writing to fit into this trend, but I will make it easier for you to enjoy both the shorter words, AND the whole poem that means so much to me (and you I hope).  If you’re in a hurry, the first picture will be the seed line that inspired the whole poem, which will be a simple swipe to the right.  Tell me how you dig it, and I love you, all.

No guilt to be had
in starting over,
no shame in beginning
again.  
Some will follow,
some will stay behind
and lend a soundtrack
of whispers and
side glances
when you go.  

Refusing to turn around
is also
a goodbye.

When we walk a road
until its end,
stare at the beyond
for half a moment
and walk off
into whatever comes
next,

this,
is bravery.
