and a dozen ways
to cut a pear,
show me lightning
that spreads across mountains
and illuminates
the dark.

Teach me of Autumn
and how to carve
a pumpkin clean,
teach me of melancholy
and how to grow
comfortable
inside it.

What of Winter,
of the right texture
to make a snowball,
what of endurance
and what it is to
survive such
cold?

Give to me Spring
and the gift of growth,
the green against the
grey.
Give me patience
for it will not come
at once.

some fury as blood
finds bag and knuckles

I seek to define
