How To Set Your Business Sales Goals

business sales goals

I was speaking with one of my long-time clients today, and we came upon the issue of setting goals around sales and business growth. Surprisingly, this kicked off a deep and intensive conversation around whether sales goals were meaningful or relevant.

It turns out that my client has set sales goals in the past, but didn’t come anywhere close to meeting them.

How to Stop Being the Bottleneck in Your Business

business-bottleneck

bot·tle·neck
ˈbädlˌnek/
noun
noun: bottleneck; plural noun: bottlenecks

1.
the neck or mouth of a bottle.
2.
a point of congestion or blockage, in particular.

What does it take to grow your business?

That depends. At first, if you’re just starting out, it takes a testable idea (I didn’t say GOOD idea, just a testable idea), and some people to try that idea out upon.

How Your Personal Growth Grows Your Business

personal growth grows your business

One of the sayings my clients hear from me often is this: “Your business is the best crucible for your personal growth. Whatever you struggle with in your personal life is likely to be the same thing you struggle with in your business.”

As a psychologist, I’m completely convinced of the inextricable link between who we are as people, and how we show up in business.

Staying Motivated through the Ecommerce Launch Cycle

got-motivation

As entrepreneurs, most of us are very good at starting new things. We generate ideas, develop new businesses, and keep coming up with what’s new and fresh and of the moment. There is nothing quite like the intoxication of a new business idea that you feel really excited about. At first, you have a lot of energy for your new idea.

The Courage to Risk

courage-in-business

One of the themes that’s been showing up in my coaching work with clients has been the idea of risk-taking and courage. Being an entrepreneur is, inherently, a courageous choice. You trade some kinds of “certainty” for situations which are less certain. On the other hand, though, we know that even the largest corporations are going through downsizing and acquisitions, so there are no guarantees in the corporate world either.

Finding Your Mentors

finding-your-mentors

Over the past few weeks, I’ve noticed that I’ve really wanted to reduce and simplify. I spent time going through all my recurring subscriptions, and canceled about 40% of them. I’ve also been busy reducing my number of newsletter subscriptions. You might think of this as year-end cleaning. What I’ve noticed already is that my email inbox is a lot quieter, and I’m spending less time deleting things I won’t read anyway.
