Johnlock Fanfic Starter KitWelcome! New to Tumblr and/or Johnlock? This rec is intended for new people in the Johnlock/TJLC fandom who are looking to read those older Classic fics that most of us have read or know about. I did not do long descriptions so I could fit in more fics. This is just a sample of what is out there and I could not put all the fics I would have liked in this list (also no WIPs). Please check out my other recs HERE for different tropes and themes (including newer fics).

Comparison for all the bullet wounds:
1) Hope got shot...

Comparison for all the bullet wounds:
1) Hope got shot in the back, both in the unaired pilot and a study in pink. I didn’t get quite the moment of the bullet hitting him but if you can remember in the pilot, the shot was brutal and the exit wound was so large that Sherlock got blood on his face while he was sitting across the cabbie. In ASIP, you can distinctly see the spurt of blood coming when he gets shot by John, too. Please note that both times the cabbie wasn’t moving and throwing himself in front of Sherlock.
2) Sherlock gets shot by Mary, facing her. The bullet enters the body in one clean hit and after that starts bleeding. He didn’t move either and the blood starts spilling because he’s standing up. He falls on his back quite literally three seconds after the shot. You can notice how small the hole is. And also please note that Sherlock in his mind (through MP Mycroft) knows that knowing the caliber of the gun or the size of the bullet don’t matter at this point: the bullet hit vital organs and he’s going to die.
3) Mary gets shot. Now, she’s supposed to get shot by Vivian and she did move by throwing herself in front of Sherlock. However, the wound literally ‘exploded’ (it also makes a very distinct sound when it happens). Contrary to Sherlock’s wound but similarly to Hope’s wounds, the blood comes forward in a spurt that doesn’t go with the way her body moves. Also, if we want to deduce what kind of gun Vivian was using, that doesn’t matter at this point: she had a very discreet, small gun but that doesn’t match with how violent the bullet wound looks. Just like Hope, the wound looks way bigger that it’s supposed to be.
Conclusion: Mary definitely got shot from behind and it wasn’t by Vivian since she was facing her.
Plus, we know Sherlock didn’t stay where he was. He did try to move away before the bullet hit so there’s a chance he wasn’t targeted by the bullet that hit Mary.
And who do we know who’s a crack shot, with nerves of steel, whose hands don’t shake when he has to fire a gun?
The second burthen of a former child!
I’ve seen people picking up on the Sonnet 59 in general as the “nothing new under the sun”/”ACD wrote canon Johnlock himself b*nches” sonnet, but the drawing of attention to Sonnet 59 specifically in the scene when Mary is going into labor highlights a few lines in particular:
If there be nothing new, but that which is
Hath been before, how are our brains beguil’d,
Which, labouring for invention, bear amiss
The second burthen of a former child!
an extended metaphor describing the poet’s brain as a mother’s womb, labouring to bring forth original verse only to mistakenly write something (“second burden”) that has already been written (“former child”), as if the mother had suffered two bouts of labour to give birth to the same child twice.
The Six Thatchers was a case that Sherlock and John already solved together, and John published on the blog, and yet it is repeated/modified in T6T. Given the overlay of Sonnet 59 specifically in the birth scene, it seems highly likely that this repetition of this specific case is intentional. It also gives serious weight to the theory that the majority/entirety of T6T is a fabrication/embellishment of the truth as narrated by Sherlock himself, possibly as an alibi for John’s shooting of Mary. Sherlock, labouring to bring forth an original story to flesh out his whopper, falls back on the skeleton of a case that he’s already solved and that John has already written.
And just for fun, you know what’s a lovely English idiom that means “an incredible or far-fetched story”? A fish story.
Right. Also interesting in this light is the repeated assertion that “it’s never twins.” Rather than two babies, it is “as if the mother had suffered two bouts of labour to give birth to the same child twice.” Implications abound.
The final question is to do with the next two episodes: will we see a second burthen of the case in TAB, with Mary faking her death only to return to kill her husband? Will the entirety of T6T be born again, beginning with a second visit to the baby’s actual birth and retelling the truth of story we’ve just seen?

John was about to leave Mary.
He was bored with their suburban life
contemplated cheating
“Is it too early for a divorce?”
“So many Lies”
Mary always liked Mary. “Me too. I used to”
He was done with her. And then she “sacrificed” herself. Don’t believe the lies.
Ya’ll Mary knew. She KNEW that John was going to leave her. And what was that she said in HLV? “I would do anything at all to stop that from happening.” Now John will feel guilty for the rest of his life. Game, set, match.

Remember this scene? Now we know it’s not Mary or Rosie.

The Devil vs. The Antichrist.
I started making a post to draw your attention to an unsetting -for a lack of a better word- scene from TST that tell us something important, but I ended up stumbling upon a major speculation about the worst possible ‘NO WAY’ rugpull. Bear with me because it blew my mind just how much it fits with a lot of things we already know.
I hope I’m wrong. Proceed with caution.
I really like the meta here about Mary being the anrichrist and Sherlock the Christ figure. That makes the dialog about 666 etc make so much more sense. Not sure about the sister thing, but maybe.
