Writing and the Holidays
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I spent time with family which was very nice.
Well, I finally finished my cowboy book and have submitted it to the publisher who requested it. Now I have to wait, but I’m not sitting back and relaxing. I have lots of other irons in the fire right now.
I have several books in various states with my editor at The Wild Rose Press. I’m currently revising a book to send to a new publisher, Trifecta, for a launch date in mid-2017. And I’m thinking about what books I want to write for next year.
December is pretty much a planning month for me to figure out what the first six months of next year will look like for me as an author. But also time for me to play catch up on stuff I’ve let slid by while I write.
I’ll still be writing, but not at the pace I’ve been doing which is fine. I need a month to get things back in order and organized.
The book I submitted, my hero is a rodeo cowboy as well as owning a ranch, so I thought the picture below was appropriate (even if my guy isn’t Canadian):

Rowdy Rodeo Doin’s by Paty Jager
I’m excited to say Bridled Heart, my contemporary western romance, I’m re-releasing December 1st is full of rodeo rowdiness.
When I came up with the idea or write about a bareback bronc rider and contacted four-time National Bareback Champion Bobby Mote to discover how to write my hero and learn more about the life of a rodeo cowboy. I was lucky enough to visit with his wife, Kate, and learn more about how the wife and family handle the vagabond life.
From the interview I learned a lot about a cowboy who is set on becoming named the best in his sport. They are as dedicated as any other athlete and aim to keep their body in top form. Bobby had just finished running several miles when I arrived, he continued doing sit-ups and stretches as he answered my questions about his routine and emotions he felt before, during, and after a ride. It was an enlightening discussion.
I also visited with a friend who had attended the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas many times and used his information to write scenes set at the finals.
But this book isn’t all about rodeo, it’s also about a woman who suffered abuse as a child and learned to cope and become stronger. It takes a strong man who suffers guilt over his sister to find her and pull her out of her self-imposed cocoon.

“Get him out of that shirt and into this wheelchair if you want him to get an x-ray.” The doctor motioned to the wheels and seat peeking through the curtain. His attitude told her she’d overstepped on their first meeting.
Holt just grinned at her and winked. The rascal knew she didn’t want to undress him. She cleared her throat and pulled the snap at the top of his shirt. Looking over his shoulder, she moved her hands down the shirt band, pulling the material away from his body, feeling his heat. She’d undressed male patients before, but touching this man triggered sensations she’d locked away.
“You’ll have to tug it out of my pants if you want to finish taking it off.” His voice whispered, only for her ears. She dashed a glance at his face. He didn’t mock her. In fact, he looked as unsure as she felt.
She tugged on his shirt and grasped the warm tail as she unsnapped the last snap. Her gaze fell on the white tank T-shirt clinging to his muscular torso. It would have to be peeled from his body as well. Taking a breath, she rolled the bottom up, exposing a tan belly with a thin line of blonde hair that widened as it climbed to his chest and spread across well-formed pecs. She inhaled sharply at the sight of two perfectly-formed hoof marks on the right side of his chest just below his puckered nipple.
“You’ll have to lift your arms.” She licked her lips and stepped closer, into the V of his legs, to help navigate his arms through the holes and slip the whole garment over his head.
“Thank you.” His voice was rough as his dark eyes stared unblinking into hers.
Gina stepped back, dropping her gaze. The heat swirling in her body was a bad sign. She didn’t want to desire this man, or any man.
“Get in the chair.” She tried to keep her voice even as she pointed to the wheel chair. Control was something she’d worked hard to attain. Control over her circumstance and control over her body. She didn’t like the way she lost power over her emotions around Holt.

How Do You Like Your Ranger? by Donna Michaels
Hi everyone, it’s Donna Michaels, and I hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving! Mine was wonderful. We didn’t have family over until supper time, so I got to write most of the morning. Yay!

Jingle Boots–Em Petrova
Howdy, everyone! It’s a winter wonderland here in western Pennsylvania, and since we’ll be missing the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them movie due to 5 inches of snow, I’m sitting at my desk telling other stories.
Stories about bad girls who are alone on Christmas.
Bad girls who want to find some fun.
And who grab her bestie and hop a flight to Vegas for the holiday.
You might notice that this is a Rope ‘n Ride ON Novella. Some of you have read my Rope ‘n Ride Series and know the Calhouns is a rodeo family. If you’re a fan, you’ve probably read a few of my novellas set in the rodeo as well. And you might have also noted that some of the characters make guest appearances.
Recently, I decided to brand these all together into the Rope ‘n Ride and the Rope ‘n Ride ON Series. And yep, you’ve guessed by now that the cowboy hero in JINGLE BOOTS is a rodeo man!
Cutter is a stock breeder for the rodeo, and it seems everyone wants a piece of him. But on Christmas he’s alone on his ranch–until his bigwig hotel/casino manager brother invites him to stay in Vegas for the holiday.
Veronica’s family is overseas during the season, and she’ll be damned if she is spending her time in flight and then eating fruitcake at her boring aunt’s house. So she makes a snap decision to hop a plane and hit the strip.

Someone pressed against Veronica, and she protected her drink by bringing it to her lips. Her gaze settled on the man before her.
She lowered the glass, nearly dropping it. Booze dribbled over her fingers and ran down her wrist, and the man placed his hand over hers to keep her from dropping the glass.
A bolt of electricity went straight to her pussy. Her nipples tightened.
Rough hands. A rough-handed, blue-eyed man in a cowboy hat and boots.
“Well lookie who’s snagged a cowboy!” Julia’s laughter reached her.
“Did I snag you?” she asked dumbly. The alcohol’s hitting my system.
He stepped up to her. Took the glass from her hand and gave it to a passing waitress. Veronica caught a hint of leather and aftershave, something earthy that made her pussy squeeze with want.
Yeah, definitely too much to drink. But she wasn’t fucking this man. They were holding a shouted conversation above the music, right?
He fixed her in his gaze and caught her fingers. Then he very slowly raised them to his lips. For a dizzying moment, she thought he’d kiss her hand, but then he opened his mouth around her fingers and licked the alcohol from them.

Liquid heat hit her lower belly and spread through her entire body. She rubbed her thighs together, which probably only looked like a provocative form of dance.
She stared at his lips. They looked so hard and felt so soft. How? With his head tipped, the brim of his hat hid his eyes from view, but she liked the way his jaw muscle quivered as he stretched his tongue to reach down between her index and middle fingers to lap it clean.
She curled her free fingers under his jaw, shocked by how rough his beard scruff was. He continued to hold her forearm, moving his tongue around her fingers to the wetness on her wrist.
“I’m not much on Bacardi, but it tastes good on you, sweet thing.” It sounded as thang.
Oh God, a country drawl to go with the hat and boots. Her ovaries exploded.

For the first ever I had THREE NEW RELEASES in one week. And, I will NEVER do it again. Seriously, one release day can be exhausting. Three? I’m still tired and they’ve all been available for days.
