And The Title Is…

It is with great excitement that I can publicly share with you the title for my forthcoming novella. While subscribers have known for a while now, I thought it was time to share the exciting news with everyone. As you probably noticed from the image above, the novel is called “The Last Verdict”.

While I can’t give away spoilers, the title is a perfect fit for a story that confronts the harshest sentence a US court can assign, the death penalty. It captures the the finality in a way I had hope...

Ash Wednesday – T.S. Eliot

Because I do not hope to turn again
Because I do not hope
Because I do not hope to turn
Desiring this man’s gift and that man’s scope
I no longer strive to strive towards such things
(Why should the aged eagle stretch its wings?)
Why should I mourn
The vanished power of the usual reign?

Because I do not hope to know again
The infirm glory of the positive hour
Because I do not think
Because I know I shall not know
The one veritable transitory power
Because I cannot drink
There, where trees flo...

To YouTube or Not to YouTube?

That is the question!

Well, at least it is the question that I have for you. I’ve really enjoyed making videos over the last few years. However, due to my video editing software becoming unstable, I’ve not done as much as I would have liked. Here’s a quick message I posted today:

What do you think? Should I keep vlogging? If so, on what topics?

Weigh in through the comments and let me know.

Some Exciting Book News

When it rains, it pours! This week has been a big one for me and writing, so I wanted to share all the good news. So let’s dive right in:

Readers Email List:

Today I sent out my very first Readers Update email to my brand new subscription list. It included some a wonderful collection of bonuses: the new title to my forthcoming novella; an excerpt from the novel; and much more! If you are not subscribed, don’t worry about missing out. There are more to come (including advance cover art screeni...

Some Sunday Spirituality

I’m getting quite tired of the ridiculous, antiquated ways gender is handled in so many religious circles. Here’s a video I put out a while ago that addresses it briefly:

The Rise of Book Trailers

I remember it clearly: We were watching TV when, during the commercials, a trailer began to play. It immediately caught out attention, the sights and sounds and story line drawing us in bodily as we turned towards the screen. What was this great looking movie? The answer was not what we expected. It was not movie at all, but a dramatized trailer for a forthcoming novel by James Patterson. A brilliant move by an advertising-guy-turned-author.

Since then, the video book trailer has become stand...

As you have probably noticed, my site has taken a very intentional turn towards topics concerning the writing life. This is largely due to the fact that I have been working very hard over the last few months making room in my life to give writing more space. It has been exciting, especially with my first work of fiction coming out in the very near future.

As a writer, my work finds its deepest meaning and thrill when it connects to readers like you. As novelist John Green once said:

“What I e...

Reading, Writing & Your Mobile Device

When it comes to reading in the electronic age, I find myself in the middle of the road. On one hand, I look the feel of a good quality book of bound paper in my hands. On the other hand, I read fiction almost exclusively on my Kindle Paperwhite. Then again, try as I might, I’ve not been able to bring myself to read non-fiction on my Kindle, needing a bound paper copy instead- with one exception: I listen to non-fiction audio books from Audible and iTunes on my iPhone. Yet, with the exception...
