Our leader embarrasses us all

It’s difficult beyond description being Australian, when he’s overseas and ‘speaking for us’, this awful man …

The great baguette challenge

This all started when Janet and I were exchanging Comments about bread-making. It’s her theory that a good breakmaking machine can produce terrific baguettes, and as the very mention of these delectable edibles sets me off drooling, I started looking into the matter of whether or not I can afford to buy one. (I already know how to make a loaf of bread without a machine – in the laziest way possible. Yesyes: you don’t need to say it …)

During my on-line searching, I came across a truly delightf...

Ahem! – pay attention this way

There is a new item in my navigation bar – see it up there?

“Like it or Loathe it” …

It is my first Event. It may be my last. Depends.

Have a gink. See if the idea interests you. I’ll be posting the first topic on Monday/Sunday week. This whole dateline thing is a trap for young players – old ones, too.:-)

Oh, that this too too solid flesh …

I fairly frequently make reference to my size. This is a self-image problem, and goes all the way back to my childhood, when I was, not to put too fine a point upon it, fat.

Perhaps not like today’s fat kids; more like much fatter than the others kids. If you were to take a gink at the little slideshow of family photos, you’d see in the one captioned ‘5 daughters in order (for once)’ that my arms are much wider than all my sisters’. But I suppose that when I describe myself as a ‘fat’ child, I...

Daily Prompt: Mirror, Mirror

source: TheOatmeal.com

Look in the mirror. Does the person you see match the person you feel like on the inside? How much stock do you put in appearances?

MUST I? – looking in the mirror is not something I do a lot.

Sighh …

OKOK. I’ve done it. (Nothing to see here: move on …)

Surely everyone knows that as you get older on the outside you remain at some fixed point internally?

The Stringers had a game we played every few years or so, that consisted of nominating precisely how old we actually felt, a...

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge 2

The really good thing about Cee’s Challenges is that they provide such wide parameters to work within for a really amateur photog. But come to think of it, so far I haven’t been able to post anything that I took myself, anyway! Sighh … what nonsense I do talk, sometimes!

This week’s is Found in Nature, which topic emphasises what I mean. I’ve pulled out two of Chic’s shots –and yaaaay!, one of mine! – from a stay we made in a super gîte in a little town called Buxières-les-Mines; it was our la...

Today – outwards by 3

That’s … ONE. Business Insider tells all you Facebook fanatics something you don’t want to know – but you’d be awfully silly not to read about it!

Just consider the source, for starters …

That’s … TWO. For anyone who, like me, discovered æons ago C.S. Lewis’ wonderful stories about the Pevensie children and fell in love with them all, here is not only an image to fill the eye and the heart, but a really surprising fact!

That’s … THREE. This is for my Australian readers (for I can’t believe any A...

Three months today!

So.

Here I am, three months down the track from this blog’s inception and your awareness of me.

Hm. Perhaps I shouldn’t have added the last bit – it might make you start thinking. You know, shake your heads like dogs coming out of the water, as if to rid yourselves of a pervasive dream, and ask “Umm … wasn’t my life actually better before this idiotic woman started posting stuff?

:-)

And the answer is: OF COURSE NOT!

One of the bloggers I follow posted just yesterday about whether or not one is me...

Ese’s Weekly Shoot & Quote Challenge – Buzz

Such nice ‘challenges’ many WordPress.com users set up! I just discovered this one, and feel it relevant to a couple of photos from two (i.e., one photo from each) of our trips to la belle France. You are possibly thinking “Any excuse …!”, and you are right.:-)

The quote called for is , initially, somewhat surprising in terms of the person who originated it:

“The buzz is still with me. I get goose bumps.” — David Beckham

and while he is very probably referring to one of his marvellous free kicks...
