R.I.P. PRINCE

Hello, Everyone

I just want to say that even after four days, I still can't get over the fact that Prince is dead. And as any Prince fan can attest to, we all feel the emptiness he left behind. I still can't put his name and the word "dead" in the same sentence; I just can't wrap my mind around those two words.

I was so devastated and shocked when I read the news on my computer, I called my daughter at her job crying. And now the entire world celebrates his legacy; that's how much of an influence he had. He was just shown riding his bike around Paisley Park a few days ago. How do you go from that to collapsing in an elevator? You just never know.

To show how big of a fan I was, and still am, my first suspense novel, Cause She's a Good Girl, was written in admiration of him; I created a character after him.

Hug your family, say "I love you" everyday. Because you never know--you may lose a loved one in an instant.

Thank you for listening...

I suck and thank you

Hi, Everyone

First of all, my very first author interview has just been posted, and I'm so excited. I'll be smiling for weeks. Drop by and let me know what you think:
http://bookgoodies.com/interview-with...

I have another one appearing Jan.18 on Omnimysterynews.com, and I'm, yeah you guessed it, excited!!

Now to the suck part: It's obvious that I suck at blogging. I have nothing interesting to say, and that's three minutes of your time you can't get back. So, I've decided to post something here only when I'm about to release a new book, or something spectacular has happened concerning them, like I'm on the Bestseller's list **whistles and horns blowing**

I'm just not cut out for blogging and holding peoples interest with my charming repartee and clever way with words **laughing** I'll just leave that to my books and anytime I do an author interview, like the exciting ones above:)

I admire those that have such successful blogs. They have so much to say and to show on their websites; they get followers who drop by every day to see what interesting things they have to say. And it takes a lot of time and effort to keep those sites up to par, as you already know. For example: Pewtipie. I mean, he just sits there playing video games while adding some colorful entertainment, and he makes over a million dollars a month holding peoples' interest? I don't get it. If I tried that, I'd get banned from YouTube for life:) But it's obvious he has something I certainly don't.

So, I confess. I'm not a very social person; I'm quiet and introverted, and I'm sorry. But I love to speak through my books; Or answer questions sent to me. It's easy to talk then:)

Thanks to all of you for reading these dull blogs. I truly apologize. But if you want to get in touch with me, either here on GoodReads or through my email, I will gladly talk with you, and answer your questions. I love hearing from you, especially those that love to read my books.

So until I have another author interview, or a new release, or exciting news that I'm on the Bestsellers' list **eyebrows raised**--see you in the forums, and Good Reading:)

The small history behind COLORS IN THE DARK

A blogger asked me recently what prompted me to write COLORS IN THE DARK. So, I thought I'd share it with you:

Colors In The Dark by Groovy Lee

First of all, like most authors, stories live in your head waiting to be given life. Sometimes something as simple as a song will inspire a story. And that's partly how the book came about.

One of my favorite songs sung by Eric Clapton is I SHOT THE SHERIFF. For years, every time the song would come on the radio, an entire scene would play in my head. I thought, that would make a really good story one day. So, I finally sat down and wrote COLORS IN THE DARK. If you like I SHOT THE SHERIFF, and if, by chance, you get a copy of my book, when you get to Sweet Tea, Miss., you'll see a part of that song come alive.

And that's what's so exciting about being an author. Besides just loving the art of writing, all it takes is a song, or something someone says, and a small seed of a story begins to generate in your vivid imagination until it eventually grows into a published book.

I also would like to proudly mention that my first Kindle suspense novel, CAUSE SHE'S A GOOD GIRL, was featured on a popular, local morning talk show, "Talk of the Town", and given a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by Bookman and Bookwoman. I am soooo proud of that:)

Cause She's a Good Girl by Groovy Lee

I thank all of you for taking this journey with me....

Okay, so if you remember from my last post, I'm searching for the perfect, delectable chocolate pie recipe. I found one, made it, and well, it was good. On a scale of 1-10, I'd give it a 6. But that's because I made it. So, I'm thinking if I keep working on it, then it will reach a 10.

Making a chocolate pie isn't rocket science, right? Eggs, milk, sugar, flour, chocolate. But it's the quality of chocolate, or cocoa powder, you use that makes all the difference. Ah, that's the secret:)

Cecil the Lion--Undersea discovery & New Book

Hi, Everyone

I hope you're all enjoying the summer.

First, I would like to say how heartbroken and disgusted I am about Cecil the lion who was murdered by the dentist (I refuse to say his name) I can't understand how the idea of shooting an arrow to wound Cecil, then hunt him for 40 hours, and after shooting him down, cut off his head, would pass for fun!

I'm not an animal activist, but I do believe that life is precious, human or animal. IMHO, a just punishment would be to put this dentist in the middle of an African plain with a wounded leg, and have him hunted down for the next 40 hours--see how he likes it. And now that Cecil is dead, his two cubs are in danger of being killed off by his rival. How do people sleep at night?

On a brighter note, check out this link below. You won't believe what some divers found while scuba diving underwater. It's called "the thing", and is worth taking the time to look at, while the accompanying music is so relaxing.

https://vimeo.com/133076936

And last, but not least, my new romantic/suspense is indeed entitled: COLORS IN THE DARK, and it's due out August 21st. You can view the cover on my website, and I've included the synopsis below:

http://www.groovylee.com

Thanks for listening, everyone, and enjoy the rest of your summer:)

COLORS IN THE DARK SYNOPSIS

Hailey Campbell was raised by her adoptive mother, Big-Mama, in a home filled with unconditional love and foster children. Her biological mother was a heroin addict and couldn’t keep her; her father, a right-wing conservative with a vice his social circle must never discover. So, it was a blessing that someone with so much to give raised her to be a strong, intelligent woman whose loyalty to those she loved knew no boundaries. And that would come in handy when her best friend, Meagan, decided to leave her abusive husband, and Hailey was right there by her side as her moral and physical support; or when she needed the courage to expose the ones behind the city’s bank robberies that resulted in the deaths of three people.

And yet, in her day to day struggles of trying to deal with this kooky puzzle called her life, the idea of true love never held any priority. Was there ever such a thing as the, quote, “man of your dreams”, your, “soul mate”? If she had to judge by the Neanderthals who only had one agenda on their minds just because they paid for her salad and a drink, then that middle-of-the-puzzle piece would forever sit waiting for a match.

So this single, card-carrying virgin, didn’t mind one bit as she stood with her chin lifted proudly in the middle of a room full of expensive tuxedos and glittering gowns surrounding her at an important gala, that she was dateless. She would just continue to sample the high-end cuisine, drink the expensive wine, and mind her business. A man?—why bother? Love—who needs it? No sooner had those pitiable questions crossed her mind, when her answer appeared from the midst of all those international dignitaries: The most beautiful man, a simple waiter named Manley, turned and locked eyes with her. As she stood there wide-eyed with a medley of stunned excitement and paralyzing attraction rushing through her head and heart, she knew then she could no longer scoff and joke at such nonsense.

Because of this man, the meaning of true love was finally made clear that night. With this man, her world had forever changed. And despite the mysteries that he, himself, was hesitant to reveal, she could stand against anything and anyone that challenged her.

That daunting challenge awaited her in Sweet Tea, Mississippi; Population 700 (that’s not counting the Ransom militia compound at the edge of town) And if she didn’t get there in time and save eighteen month-old Abbie, she could lose her behind those thick walls protected by the First Amendment and never see her again.

A little boy's wave goodbye--Tennis withdrawal--swarming insects & chocolate pie recipe

http://andyjwells.tumblr.com/post/122...

First of all, I saw this and my heart just fell. The last picture a mother saw of her son waving goodbye as he was being kidnapped by his father. How evil can one person be to do this, not only to her, but to his son. They may not be together anymore, but don't scar your child for life just to get back at her. I hope to goodness she finds her son soon.

Well, the French Open is over and I'm still having withdrawals. Back to reality--that is, until Wimbledon starts, NEXT WEEK!:)

I saw something strange in the sky the other day. I heard this loud swarming noise, and I look up and it's like a scene right out of the Ten Commandments. A swarm of insects moving in unison in oblong shapes across the neighborhood. I thought I was done for. But thankfully, they weren't interested in me. They just went on their merry way.

So far, my latest work, a romantic suspense, is right on schedule. The temporary title of it is "Colors in the Dark", but that may change.

I finally did an "About Me" page on my website. I didn't want to at first, because I'm not that interesting, but I think I was rather creative about it. And I'm very proud of it. Check it out and, if you want, tell me what you think.

http://www.groovylee.com/

And last, but not least, I'm looking for a recipe for the perfect chocolate pie. So far, I've gone through three already and they leave much to be desired. When I find it, I'll post it for all you chocolate lovers.

Buck the Dog and other things

Hello, Everyone

I saw the cutest clip of a puppy afraid of its own hiccups and thought I'd share it with you. I love it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QslV...

I'm so glad winter is goooonnnneee! I was so sick of the cold weather. Now, I can go outside and plant and just enjoy the cancer rays of the sun! And, it's tennis season. Yaaay! My daughter knows to stay in good health because I'm glued to the television and can't help her (just kidding) And let's not forget about the new Avengers' movie. I hope Loki's in it. It's just not a movie without him:)

I'm working on a romantic/suspense that should be out in August, I think. I'm really excited about it and trying to get it out on time. But of course, with tennis season--don't hold me to it.

Have a fun spring/summer everyone.

"BRENDEN & DELICIA WRIGHT--HEROES

It's been on the news for days now. Someone snatched up a toddler and tried to run off with him. The street camera shows the perpetrator running down the sidewalk with the helpless baby in his arms.

And right behind him, you see Delicia and Brenden Wright running right after him to rescue their little brother. I could kiss those adorable kids. Their parents taught them well. It is just so heart-warming and awe-inspiring to see these tiny little humans, brave enough to confront someone a lot bigger than they are, running after the kidnapper.

A kidnapper that's fifteen years old. I'm not shocked by much these days, but a fifteen year old? I'm thinking a grown pervert, child molester, not a child. And you wonder what sort of life is he exposed to, to want to kidnap a small child and do it harm? FIFTEEN!

Parents out there, this is motivation for you to teach your children stranger- danger tactics so we can have some more heroes out there like Brenden and Delicia.

Right now, I'm working on my second suspense novel which should be out by the end of the year--hopefully. I'd like to mention a few books that helped me tremendously in the learning process of writing. They are:

The First Five Pages A Writer's Guide To Staying Out of the Rejection Pile by Noah Lukeman

The First Five Pages: A Writer's Guide to Staying out of the Rejection Pile

A Dash of Style The Art and Mastery of Punctuation by Noah Lukeman

A Dash of Style: The Art and Mastery of Punctuation

The Plot Thickens 8 Ways to Bring Fiction to Life by Noah Lukeman

The plot Thickens: 8 Ways to Bring Fiction to Life

Actually, Noah Lukeman is a very successful literary agent who has quite a few books on the writing process. Anyone out there, who needs a good source of help on their writing journey, should check them out.

And, if you have any questions about the writing process, I'll be glad to help any way I can.

Thanks for listening! http://www.groovylee.com/

The new Sports Illustrated 2015 Cover--REALLY?

I would first like to ask--why?

Now, I'm all for pictures of beautiful women (and men) on the cover of magazines; look at the beautiful bodies on Shape, Vogue, Elle, Men's Health, etc., but the point is, they are done with class. This cover is classless. I'm not shocked, though. It seems moral taste in this society continues to drop to the point of what we see now. A porn magazine couldn't have done it better.

I know sales is the big reason, and will probably go through the roof. But I honestly believe that the young woman didn't have to go that way. She's a very pretty, young woman. Her face alone would have sold a lot of copies. But to, in my opinion, degrade yourself that way is such a shame.

It speaks volume when you respect yourself as a woman and leave something to the imagination. If you have to practically get naked to get noticed, then what does that say about you as a person? Now she's out there for the entire world to see and oogle over; Her physical, intimate side is no longer hers to keep as an honorable treasure, or for Derek Jeter's eyes only. Every red-blooded male can see that most intimate part of her.

What next? A thirteen year-old? A sixteen year-old topless cover? The way the morals of this world is headed, I would not be surprised one bit if that happens; And I think it's a down-right shame.

On the lighter side though, a very pretty, full-sized model was given good attention with a tasteful shot. I think it's about time, don't you?

As My Wife is now available--I'm so excited!

Hello, everyone

I'm so excited. AS MY WIFE AS MY WIFE by Groovy Lee is finally here; another one of my babies has just been published on Amazon's Kindle. I'm sure all authors will agree with me that when you release a new book, you can't help but feel excited and at the same time a little anxious. The anxious part is because no author wants to disappoint. And I'm going to be walking around silently praying the entire month!

Anyway, as you may remember, the old title was: Wife for Hire. I'm so proud of the new title and the cover. I hope the reviews will make me just as proud of the content.

For those that won the giveaway contest for helping me choose:

Edna, Sylvia, Laura, Julie, and Samina, it's on its way.

I've revised the synopsis:

Gracie Allen Jenkins is an executive secretary for Indigo Farrell, the raven-haired, tight-bodied CEO of Farrell Enterprises. The moment she entered his huge office to apply for that position, she could feel his essence reaching down to her very soul as he sat poised behind that huge desk with those sensual, brown eyes gliding over her from head to toe. She practically tripped across the floor to take her seat before him. So when he called the next day and informed her that she had gotten the position, she knew the safest job to take would have been down on the corner, leaning out the window and asking, “Would you like fries with that shake?” But the need to afford rent and to eat wouldn’t allow it. So, with deep breaths for strength, and a seven foot wall of courage encircling her, she kept her true feelings and deep attraction for him under a professional cloak as she went about her daily duties over the next two years.

It goes without saying she’s not his type; To dare to even think that is absurd. Besides, she has plans for her future. Just one more year and her dream to be the proud owner of her own pastry shop, Sugar and Spice, will be more than a blue-print dream.

But Mr. Farrell halts those plans when his father’s will almost reaches its deadline. In order for him to claim his inheritance there’s one stipulation: He has to be married! In his hour of desperation, he makes a deal with her: To marry him and reside as his wife until his inheritance is finalized; After that, she’ll receive a sizeable settlement in return.

The reward of opening her own business debt free will be her inspiration as she embarks on this excitable, yet emotionally dangerous journey. Keeping Sugar and Spice as her focus point will help rein in her true feelings for her boss while they’re married and residing at his vacation home in Canada.

But now the employer/employee title transcends into husband and wife; And her inspiration is being overshadowed by the constant interaction with him in a day to day, personable atmosphere. That strong will to resist him is being chipped away every time he touches her like a cherished wife in front of his mother and sister; or when he seems determined to cross that in-name-only agreement with his shameless need to remind her that he’s Indigo her husband, not Mr. Farrell her boss. This is a deal, right? And nowhere in the contract does her duties include the master bedroom at the end of the hall with the king-sized bed. Can it get any stressful?

Only if you add the fact that his Gucci-wearing, Mount Kilauea tempered ex-fiancee has reappeared and is on the attack to get him back.

The stress of it all threatens to explode in any given moment, forcing her to decide whether she should hang in there for the sake of Sugar and Spice; Or walk away from that dream, and her love for him.

Thanks for dropping by. Feel free to contact me here, or at atreyhu@att.net. I'd love to hear from you.

All the Best
