I'm so very excited to announce that SHIFTING GEARS, book two in the CROSSROADS series is available now.

Blurb:

Rod Nelson is used to being someone’s good time, and that’s fine with him. Spending his days at his adult toy store, Rods-N-Ends, he never knows who he’ll meet. The second Landon Harrison walks in, he has Rod’s full attention. It seems as if Landon wants him too, so why won't the man jump in the sack with him already?

Landon never thought he’d return home to the town where memories lurk around every corner. He has to admit, Rod makes the adjustment a lot easier. He keeps Landon laughing. Despite the fierce attraction between them, he’s not willing to risk his newfound friendship to get laid.

Neither man wants something serious, but the more they're together, the harder it is to keep their hands to themselves, until eventually they stop trying.

But flings between friends are never simple, and as they attempt to shift gears, diving into their first relationship, they’re slammed with setbacks. If they want to truly move forward, before they hit the open road together, they’re going to have to let go of a past that could make them crash and burn.

Excerpt:

Rod stood up, grabbed his underwear and pulled them on. He tossed Landon’s to him, before going into the kitchen. It took Landon a second to realize he watched him, taking in all of Rod—his long, lean muscles. Landon’s come was no doubt drying into Rod’s skin and his dick perked up at that thought. It was more than that though. Watching Rod stirred unfamiliar emotions in his chest.

Landon turned, pulled off the condom before the damn thing leaked everywhere. He tied it and then tossed it in the trash. “Do you have plans the rest of the day?” he asked without thinking it through.

“No.” Rod pulled a jug of orange juice from the fridge. “Want some?”

Landon nodded. “I’m tired. Mind if I hang out there?” Part of him knew there was no reason he couldn’t go home. It wasn’t that far, but then, he had just come like a fucking volcano. And the plan was to continue on as friends the way they’d always been so there was no reason he had to leave either.

Rod stopped pouring the orange juice and looked at him. “You’re staying?” There were questions in his eyes, think lines formed along the edges.
“Um…yeah?”

There was a pause and then Rod winked at him, before pouring their drinks again. “I’m giving you shit. Of course you can stay.” But something didn’t sound right about the way he said it. Not that Landon thought Rod wanted him to leave, but maybe he was surprised that Landon was staying. He had no one to blame for that but himself.

Landon took one of the cups of juice from him and then went back into the living room. He set the glass on the table before pulling his underwear on.

“We still have Young Guns Two that we need to watch. You game?”

Young Guns Two. It still surprised him that he met a guy close to his age who liked the same kind of movies he did. “We’re weird,” Landon told him and Rod just shrugged.

“At least we’re weird together.” He nodded to the hallway. “Let’s lay in my bed and watch. There’s more room. You’re a couch hog.”

“What? Me? Who’s the one that’s always lying down while I have to sit up? You put that big head of yours on my lap and I can’t move for two hours at a time.”

“That’s because you’re a couch hog and taking up space I want.” Rod looked at him as though what he just said made perfect sense.

“Yes, but you’re lying down and I’m sitting up.”

“Because you have my space.”

“But—never mind. You win. There’s no sense in arguing with you.”

Rod smiled, raised his glass like they were going to toast and then took a drink. “You keep that attitude and you and I will get along just fine. Let’s go watch sexy men roll around in the dirt and shoot each other.” Rod went for the hallway, leaving Landon standing there wondering what in the hell he was going to do with the man.

Landon turned the living room light off and then followed Rod to his bedroom. Rod already lay sprawled out on the bed, his head on the pillows, the remote pointed at the television.

He was sexy, Jesus, he was sexy, but in a comfortable way if that made sense. He was the guy that drew people to him, but maybe didn’t realize that he did. He’d joke and tease, but Landon wondered how much of that might be a smokescreen for other things that were going on with him.
Landon stood in the doorway, watching Rod point the remote at the TV— studying the rise and fall of his chest, the trail of hair that dipped below his boxer briefs, the slight smudge of black liner under his eyes, and he realized he wanted to know those things. Wanted to know if there was more to Rod than he showed the world. He wasn’t sure if he’d ever wanted to know someone that deeply before.

“You want to fuck me again, don’t you? Give me a little while and I’ll be ready for you. I’ve heard once with me usually isn’t enough.”

That jerked Landon from his thoughts. Leave it to Rod to say something like that. “You’re so hot, Rod. I don’t know how I ever keep my pants on around you.” Landon walked over and climbed onto the bed beside him.

“Hot Rod? I like that. You can call me that from now on if you want. It can be our code to let me know when I get your engine running.”

A light, airy feeling loosened up some of the tightness that always sat in his chest. “That was corny and you’re crazy if you think I’m calling you that.”

“I thought it was creative. You’re no fun.”

“Never?” Landon cocked a brow at him.

“Okay, sometimes. Maybe you used all your fun for the day when we had sex. We might have to wait until tomorrow before I can enjoy you again.”

Landon opened his mouth to reply, what he was going to say, he didn’t know, but he figured a comment like that required some kind of response. Before he got the chance, Rod said, “Shh. We’ll talk later. The movie is on. I’m going to cover us up.”

Christ, Rod was crazy. He went a hundred miles per hour all the time, flip-flopping from one subject to another, and never saying what Landon expected him to say. Never doing what Landon expected him to do either.

And he liked that. Liked it more than he’d realized until this second. “Don’t be a blanket hog.” He tugged on the corner of the light blanket, and then they settled into the movie to do just as Rod said, watch sexy men roll around in the dirt and shoot each other.

Audio Books Are Coming!

I'm thrilled to announce that I've sold audio books to Audible. Not just one or two books either. Sometime this year the whole Blackcreek series (COLLIDE, STAY, PRETEND, and RETURN TO BLACKCREEK), all three Broken Pieces books (BROKEN PIECES, FULL CIRCLE and LOSING CONTROL) and ROCK SOLID will be released in audio (CROSSROADS is already in audio). I don't have any information on narrators or release dates, but as soon as I know anything, I'll post here.

I also have another announcement for one of my Nyrae Dawn books. My young adult novel, THE HISTORY OF US made the American Library Associations 2016 Rainbow Book List! I'm so very honored to be included.

You can see the full list HERE.

I'll be revealing the cover for SHIFTING GEARS, the second book in the Crossroads series soon. It releases next month! It's Rod's story (from the sex toy store). I had a blast writing it.

More from me soon!

December 30, 2015

Goodbye 2015, hello 2016

2015 was a crazy year for me. There were ups, and downs, but what I can tell you is it was a whole lot better than 2014. LOL.

I made SO many new friends...and I lost a few. I've learned lessons and got hurt, and maybe inadvertently hurt someone else. I guess I lived this year. I was human.

In 2015, I wrote:

LOSING CONTROL (most of it)

ROCK SOLID

TURN THE WORLD UPSIDE DOWN (Nyrae Dawn, YA coming in 2016 from Harmony Ink)

CROSSROADS

A HUNDRED THOUSAND WORDS (Nyrae Dawn)

RETURN TO BLACKCREEK

most of Rod and Landon's book which has no title. LOL.

And 32,000 words on a book for NaNo, which needs a revamp in 2016.

That's a lot of books, you guys. I look at it and wonder how in the hell I did it...but this is the thing. Writing makes me happy. I go a little crazy when I'm not writing. If I go more than a few days without writing, I feel antsy and like I'm not accomplishing anything, which then makes me a bit depressed. So, I write, all the time. I can't express how grateful I am that I'm able to do what I love. I'm lucky. I know that. I'll never take it for granted.

I sold audio rights to CROSSROADS, and A HUNDRED THOUSAND WORDS in 2015.

I sold foreign translation rights (Italian) for Collide, and (French) for Collide, and Stay.

The Italian translation of CHARADE (Nyrae Dawn) was released.

The German translations of RUSH, and MASQUERADE (Nyrae Dawn) were released.

THE HISTORY OF US one of my Nyrae Dawn YA's released from Harmony Ink.

I have to say something about CROSSROADS because...this year wouldn't be complete without talking about Nick and Bryce. You guys blew me out of the freaking water with your support and love of those two men. It was beyond anything I've experienced. Thank you, thank you so much. I can never thank you enough for your support.

I found out I would be one of the 1,001 Dark Nights Discovery authors for 2016. It's an amazing opportunity and I'm so honored to participate in it.

Oh, and this is the year I connected Riley and Nyrae which I'd been wanting to do for a while.

There are also some other things going on behind the scenes that technically happened in 2015, but I can't announce them yet. More on that soon.

When I look at this post...I think...holy crap. It's amazing and exciting and scary. Honestly? I wonder how it happened. I'm shocked as hell. I've been doing this a long time. I published with small press publishers under different names. I wrote three full length novels before I got my first agent. Went on sub, didn't sell, got agent number two, went on sub, didn't sell. That was the first time I self published (Nyrae). Things went a little crazy from there with the release of Charade. I sold to big five publishers, foreign and audio deals. I went from feeling like I FINALLY made it...to crashing and burning. I almost didn't recover that last crash and burn. I hadn't felt that low since I lost my second agent and almost gave up writing with the goal of publication (I could never stop writing all together. I love it too much).

Now some of those things are happening again and as exciting as it is, I'd be lying if I didn't say it's scary as hell. Nothing is a guarantee in this industry. Nothing. I've learned that, which is why I will never take anything for granted. All I can do is keep writing and trying to put out material that I'm proud of.

That leads me to 2016, my goals and what I have planned.

Crossroads is becoming The Crossroads Series. That doesn't mean another Nick and Bryce book, BUT you will see them again in at least one more novel (Rod and Landon), and a novella for 1,001 Dark Nights (unannounced couple).

I really want to revise my NaNo book which is at 32k. It's...angsty. More along the lines of Broken Pieces, than Blackcreek, but not AS angsty as Broken Pieces and not a threesome.

I really, REALLY want to write Rock Solid book two. I feel so bad that I haven't finished that book, but I think I'm too close to it. In a lot of ways, I'm Blake. I know what it's like to have a loved one who is an alcoholic. I know how hard it is to believe they're clean, even though you want nothing more than for that to be true. When your heart is broken a lot, it's fragile... That's how I see Blake. I will do my best though, and I hope his story will be worth the wait.

If you read my Nyrae stuff, I want to write Xavier's story. He was the pot smoking, roommate with the post/pre bang kit from A HUNDRED THOUSAND WORDS :). He intrigued me. I can't wait to write him.

Plus... a surprise that I'm hoping works out. I can't say much about it now.

Whew. I think that's it. I really want to say thank you to you guys. Whether you read all of my books in 2015, one of them, or none of them, but are considering it. Thank you. I love what I do. I love romance. I'm passionate about it. I love writing happily ever afters and flawed characters. I love getting inside characters' heads and hearts. Thank you for taking this journey with me and I hope 2016 is an incredible year filled with love, happiness, friendships, family and good books for all of us.

Oh, and one last thing!! I organized a book drive for an LGBT youth center and we collected SO many books!! Plus, a Kindle. I loved doing it and am already thinking about something else I can do next year.

RETURN TO BLACKCREEK is here!

I'm SO excited (and scared, always scared) that RETURN TO BLACKCREEK is here. I had so much fun visiting the men of Blackcreek again. I hope you guys enjoy it as well.

Wes and Braden

Braden plans a surprise weekend getaway for him and Wes. Two days alone in a cabin with his husband? There’s no telling what kind of trouble they can get into. Wes isn’t fooled though. He knows this weekend is about more than just a sexy escape. When Braden lets him in on what he has planned, it has the potential to change their lives forever.

Gavin and Mason

It’s the start of winter break and Gavin is looking forward to spending it working at Creekside with Mason…only he realizes that’s not the only thing he wants. He sets out on a path to give Mason the surprise of a lifetime, and the end result is a night neither man will ever forget.

Noah and Cooper

Cooper is determined to start a new holiday tradition. He’s planned an ugly sweater party that will go down in Blackcreek history. Not even Noah realizes everything he has in store for the night. If Coop can pull it all off without a hitch, the party will either be a huge success, or the biggest mistake of his life.

Three couples, three major life events. It’s a December to remember for all our men in Blackcreek.

Big announcement

Anyone ever wish that every time they had a decision to make, they could just shake a Magic Eight Ball and honestly get the right answer? Something like…hey, I see where you’re coming from but what about X, Y, and Z? Unfortunately, that’s not the case, and in our lives, relationships and careers all we can do is try and make the best decision possible and hope it’ll all work out.

Where is this coming from, you might ask? I’ll get there, I promise, but I’m going to start at the beginning.

I’ve always loved writing. I always knew that was what I wanted to do. After years of putting my dreams aside, finally I decided to give it a shot. I played around in a few genres before I started writing Young Adult fiction. I fell in love. I got an agent, and both sold books traditionally and self-published them. From there I wrote a couple of New Adult books, and did the same. I loved writing YA, and the plans I had for future books were geared for teen readers…but then eventually, I had this other story idea come to mind. It wouldn’t leave me alone. I thought about it day and night. It was very different than what I had already published. It was an adult book…a very adult book with explicit content, much different than my YA and NA books. Even though my NA is intended for readers who are slightly older, they’re still fairly tame compared to a lot of books out there.

I put a lot of thought into what to do. I loved this story. I was passionate about it, and passionate about the genre. But then if I published it, what happened if one of my thirteen or fourteen-year-old readers looked me up and clicked on that book instead of one of my titles that was more appropriate for them? I didn’t think it was a good idea to mix teen and explicit romance content on the same site. The answer to me was a pen name. But then, I worried that if I connected those names, could the same possible situation occur?

If you’ve made it this far, you’re probably thinking, get on with it already! So, I will. I currently write under two names. I started out writing YA and NA (both male/female and male/male) as Nyrae Dawn, and I also write adult male/male sexy romance as Riley Hart.

Whew, that feels good to write!

When that first Riley Hart book (COLLIDE) popped into my head, I put a lot of thought into how I wanted to move forward, yes; but I also never expected it to really go very far. I was a “new” author. I didn’t use any of my Nyrae resources as Riley. I thought I would be lucky to get a few people to read Noah and Cooper’s story. Somehow, I ended up amazingly lucky, though. I have the most incredible, loyal, passionate readers, and I feel so blessed to have them. I’ve met some incredible authors. I’ve met some wonderful friends—both author and reader. As time continued to pass, the more worried I became that my readers on either side could be upset with me that I didn’t share this sooner. With each book it’s become harder and harder, and the more the two “worlds” are overlapping in ways I never anticipated. I want to be able to do book signings as Riley. I want to support and give back to my readers the same way they’ve supported me, and the only way to do that is to connect the two names in some ways.

This was about book content, and that’s all. I want to make that perfectly clear. At the time, I made what felt like the best decision that I could. I want to put it out there that my Nyrae titles and my Riley titles are very different. Please don’t go into one expecting it to be like the other. Some of my Riley books also contain some darker themes than my Nyrae books do. I can’t stress that enough.

Even though I’m making this announcement, I don’t plan to “officially” link the names. I won’t add a link to my Riley site on my Nyrae site or to my Nyrae site on my Riley site. I still want to keep them separate to an extent, because I do think that’s smarter because Riley is so much more adult than Nyrae.

I hope you all understand where I’m coming from. Thank you so much for your support over the years.

CROSSROADS is here!

I'm so excited/scared that CROSSROADS is finally out in the world. I LOVED writing Nick and Bryce's story so much. They were funny, sexy and sweet. I hope you guys enjoy it!!

He owns the restaurant of his dreams and he’s determined to meet new people, find new passions, and experience life to its fullest. Easier said than done—that is until he meets his new neighbor, Bryce Tanner…

Bryce is all about a good time. He plans to show Nick how it’s done, help him meet a few women, and enjoy the gift of the single life he’s been given. But things don’t go as planned, and soon they realize they’d rather be together than with anyone else.

Neither man has ever wanted another guy, but there’s a connection between them from the start—a spark they can’t deny. They find themselves navigating an unfamiliar new world and dealing with unforeseen obstacles. Physical desire isn’t enough, and now Nick and Bryce are at a crossroads.
