Kerala Man drives 150 Kms to deliver cancer drugs to girl stuck in COVID19 lockdown #WATWB

Stuck in the midst of a brutal national lockdown due to the COVID19 pandemic, a four year old girl from Alappuzha in Kerala had it worse than others - she suffered from a form of blood cancer that required her to take regular treatment without fail. For these treatments, she had to travel across city borders to the Regional Cancer Center (RCC) in Trivandrum, something which became impossible after the lockdown. To make matters worse, her family had run out of money to buy the expensive medicines...

Mango Season in Kerala #WordlessWednesday

various varieties of Indian mangoes
It is mango season here in India. I went unintentionally viral last month while asking the general public on Twitter about their opinion regarding the best mango.Over 500,000 views, 7700 shares and 2100 comments later, as you can imagine we had reached no consensus at all.For me, living in Kerala during this lockdown, I've been quite fortunate.

Nice infographic.
Which ones do you recommend?#aamaadmi pic.twitter.com/sEzTIBy26E

Be Aware of the Less Painful Vaccine Available For Your Child

I had an interesting conversation recently with a couple who had just become parents to their second child. While they were better prepared this time around after the experience of raising their first child, their smiles did dim when it came to the memories of one aspect visiting the doctor for the vaccinations.
The oral polio drops were fine, they explained, but the DPT (diphtheria-pertussis-tetanus) vaccine their first child received was invariably associated with severe pain, redness at...

#COVID19 Through an Indian Doctor's Eyes

On March 22nd, on the Prime Minister's decree, Indians across the world stood on their balconies and clapped & clanged pots to pay respect to the healthcare workers of India - "Corona warriors" - who were the front line in the battle of the dreaded #COVID19 pandemic.
India had a total of 341 cases till March 22nd. 46 days later, we stand at 56,383 cases.
Spare a moment from your altered lives to visualize India during these 46 days through the eyes of those healthcare workers.

How do Vaccines Work

From the outrage of watching my own home states struggle with anti-vaxxers to discussing how herd immunity works to my own personal experience of watching a child die of a preventable disease, I've spoken on multiple occasions about why you should vaccinate your children. A recent conversation with an online friend however brought up a curious fact that I had not noted till date - in continuously pointing out the need for vaccinations, I have never really explained HOW vaccines...

Completing the #BlogchatterA2Z Challenge - Reflections

I did it. I completed the 2020 BlogchatterA2Z challenge where a blogger writes 26 posts a month (based on the 26 alphabets) revolving around a particular theme.
writing on a piece of paper with a pencil

This is my 5th year taking up and completing this challenge. And while the first year (2016) had been about TV Sitcoms, the four years since have been about showcasing real-life heroes who do kind deeds that often do not get enough attention around the world.
That has always been my aim with this series - to give them the spotlight...
