2020 is the Year to Cut the Crap

Personally, 2019 is the year of massive healing and expansion to say the least.
I started the year with in-explainable sickness that I’ve strongly assumed related to the lower vibration of depression, anxiety, stress, that I experienced in the past that still stuck as a trauma in my body. I also find out more and more, I get sensitive to other people’s energy, this also affect me big time in my journey of healing.
I took one step at a time to heal my body and soul, thankfully my medical dr and healers (shoutout to dr. Herwien, Mbak Intan from Rumah Remedi, Raj Kumari, Michelle, Mbak Fiona Wang, My sis Shita Dewi, Max Mandias of Jeda Wellnest, Dewi my dearest, Heera who’s been consistently sending me honey and probiotic
, Kenya as my discussion partner related to PMDD and my besties with their own super power Vera Shiska, Devi and Arya) are among the most enlightened being in Jakarta. I resort to natural products, meditate, fix my diet to plant-based and high fiber, start to go to the gym, and rest better. The side effect of this, is a fit toned body with bigger hips and wider glute that I’ve been developing in the past year lol.

To raise my energy through clarity of intentional living, I start to put serious effort in getting to know who I truly am. I met Human Design expert, Feng Shui expert, NLP expert, and more. I resonate more with Human Design that I learned how to read Human Design chart to help friends and family to understand their blueprint better, also expand my knowledge to Gene Keys that has been serving me well to give me resources to contemplate on in regards of the strategy to live my life.
This is also the year where I’ve met the best compassionate dentist Drg Stefani Wiwoho that has been helping me to reclaim my smile back.
One of the books I read in 2019 that impacted me big time is Reality Transurfing by Vadim Zeland. I dive into the book for months and joining a community that helps me in applying the technique in the book in a daily life. Now the book is 700+ pages thick, but I manage to summarize it in charts and compose a lifestyle plan for me to follow according to principle of the book. I’m super excited to use these principles for my 2020 intentions. I plan to do an online Zoom seminar on how I set my 2020 intentions (using Reality Transurfing principles and using trello as a way to organize and a tool to keep ourselves accountable), let me know if you’re interested to join!
In essence, my 2020 is dedicated to realizing my full potential without limit.
The question that I need to answer would be:
What is it that I’ve been postponing to execute? Can I make it happen now? If not, then I need to drop it and focus on what I can execute.
What is it that I deserve in life? Did I make the right choices according to my heart and my life values? If not, then I need to drop it and focus on what I truly deserve.
It’s clear really, it’s either a hell yeah, a maybe or a no. Please choose the hell yeah. If you’re confused, choose the maybe until you feel a hell yeah. If you never feel the hell yeah, you know better to drop it and focus to get your hell yeah.
2020 is the year to be clear of what you want and walk firmly towards the direction of what you want.Vibe strongly in your essence, you’ll attract your tribe, the ones who you can celebrate life together with. Surely, they will make your life worthwhile.
Happy New Year!
Welcoming 2020: A Decade in Review

A decade in review!
I guess before entering 2020, it’s good to look back to see what I’ve done with my life.
2009
I was a newlywed, married to my university sweetheart after 8 years of relationship, we bought a house and a car together.
2010
Our marriage started to crumble at the point that I need to hire my first ever lawyer, unfortunately it was a divorce lawyer. 10 years after our divorce, I have nothing but gratitude as we have made the best decision. I have grown so much as a person after that. The asset from that pain was my knowledge on writing as a modality to heal. I wrote a journal for a full year to witness our separation process. It was truly something that healed me. I’ve been teaching workshops on Writing for Healing, and would love to start an online Zoom seminar on this subject. I also contemplate to publish my journal on Storial.co, if it can serve the purpose to help other people realize situations on their marriage.
This is also the year where I started Girls in Tech Indonesia with Anantya, a non-profit with a mission to inspire the geek in every girl. Also, the time where I started NulisBuku.com with Ega, a startup that helps writer self-published their books in Print on Demand model.
2011
I joined founders of StartupLokal as one of the initiators and got an amazing chance to visit Dublin invited by Enterprise Ireland to learn more about startup ecosystem there.
I went to my first Umrah, the one that I’ve been postponing because I wanted to go to Makkah with my then husband, but heck, I’ll do it myself.
I became the ChairWoman for ON/OFF or famously known as Pesta Blogger, then had a chance to experience my first snow in South Korea invited by Korean Tourism Board.
2012
After writing Je M’appelle Lintang in 2007, I finally had a chance to visit Paris. It was surreal experience. For the first time, I also use EuroStar to travel to London.
I did not come from a rich family nor that I made crazy money with my business, so being able to gather that kind of cash for my first Europe travel was a big thing for me.
Speak at ThinkBig Innovate 2012 in Brunei, also mark my first ever flying business and stayed at a 6 stars hotel :))
2013
Joined a program by US Embassy, IVLP: A New Beginning and met 30 amazing entrepreneurs from around the world that become my family. We travel from Washington DC, Portland, Dallas, New York City for 3 weeks to learn about business, meet the successful entrepreneurs in the US and network with high networth entrepreneurs. I am grateful for that once in a lifetime experience.
Spent my birthday in Istanbul and fall in love with the city. Would love to go back to Turkey and explore more, especially going to the city of Konya where Rumi and Shams Tabrizi lived.
Went to Bahrain as invited by Discover Bahrain team. Also spent 9 days backpacking through Egypt: Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, Alexandria, first time ever backpacking and I really enjoyed the dust in my canvas shoes (not heels!) while watching the big Pyramid of Giza.
2014
Visiting Marrakesh invited by Global Entrepreneurship Program to attend their event there and met a lot of new entrepreneurs friends from all around the world.
Went to Paris as invited by dearest friends Arnaud and Cath Barba to attend their event La Journee de La Femme Digitale.
Invited by my good friend Epi to attend his CrowdSourcing Week event in Singapore.
Went to Kazakhstan as invited by The US Embassy to teach technology. At this time, got a phone call to speak in Russia, where I can’t just fly to, so I need to go back to Jakarta, and managed to get a visa in a day lol. Was a miracle.
Finally fly to Moscow invited to represent Indonesia to speak about Indonesia startup ecosystem at rAsia Forum by His Excellency Djauhari Oratmangun, then The Ambassador of Indonesia for Russian Federation. Love the experience, and love Moscow in summer.
2015
My dad passed away at the young age of 58 years old, we missed him ’til this day.
Attend Frankfurt Book Festival where Indonesia is The Guest of Honor. Met a lot of Indonesian authors there, hang out with Trinity and Ika Natassa when we can. I stayed at a mixed hostel where I spend a night with a guy on top of my bunk bed. Alone. So frikkin’ scary, I would never do that again :))
Spent 10 days traveling around Europe with my bestfriend Emie, from Swiss, Italy, to Spain. This is where I discover my 2 muses: Marcus Aurelius that lead me to be a stoic and Gaudi that inspire me to reach the level of excellence and genius always.
This is the year where I meet my teen time idol, Viky Sianipar, and he become my spiritual teacher (but he didn’t like that title haha).
Found a problem that it’s overwhelming for writers to write a whole book, so I thought writing per chapter would help them massively, while getting feedback in the process from readers and making money to sustain their life. Met a developer that eventually became a partner to develop the prototype of a baby that I will call Storial.co, a social storytelling platform.
Attend Beijing Book Festival invited by The Ministry of Creative Economy to study how they done it in China.
Speak in Portugal for A New Beginning event hosted by my friend Sandra. After the event, I visited one of an old bookstore and I reached for ‘The Book of Disquiet’ by Fernando Pessoa. The cashier looked at me in the eye as I was paying for the book, “Are you ready, to read a book that will change your life?”
Oh wow. The rest is history.
2016
From the year 2001 I’ve been wearing hijab and this year, I took it off. I receive massive responses to it, some of course strongly against it at the point of bullying and gas-lighting. As a stoic, I use this opportunity to add more traffic to my website and block toxic people in my life that I used to call friends.
My first time accepting VC fund to start a media company, Zetta Media.
Met my support system entrepreneurs ladies for the first time in our trip to Sumba. ’Til this day, they remain the strongest support system in my life and I am grateful to Nina Moran to bring us all together. My soulmate best friends Vera, Heera, Devi, become closest to me after this meeting.
Mentioned by Sheryl Sandberg in her Facebook post as part of #SheMeansBusiness campaign which is fantastic and one of the best thing that happen to me in my online life.
Speak at Women in Innovation Forum New York invited by my beautiful powerful friend Catherine Barba that just moved to NYC.
Met an amazing guy that I love in January, get engaged in February, plan to marry in June and break up in May. So, yeah! Cheers to this mind-numbing heartbreak that still can’t turn me into Adele!
2017
StartupLokal start our first LocalStartup Fest, and Girls in Tech Indonesia doing Girls in Tech Festival, a big milestone for us after doing years of monthly small events.
Wrote my first biography, ‘Done is Better Than Perfect’, a biography Denny Santoso. I’m grateful to be able to work with Denny to pull off this big challenge and prove to myself that I can do that. Thanks to my writing teacher and friend, Mbak Alberthiene Endah that has been cheering me for almost 7 years before I finally get my ass to write a biography. Yes, I also procrastinate! :))
Went to Nepal as invited by The US Embassy to teach technology to girls in Pokhara and Kathmandu with Anan as part of Girls in Tech Indonesia. So precious to watch the girls solving their unique every day problems with technology.
Sat down beside Sheryl Sandberg for lunch in Vietnam!! Argh!
Met Sediqa and Abdullah Sarwari, refugees from Afghanistan, that become my good friends and mark a start of my journey to address concerns over Refugees crisis in Indonesia and the world.
2018
Painful year as I need to close down my company Zetta Media as we failed to raise fund and made enough money in time. I fell into depression that lead to physical sickness. I turn to the sun to heal and successfully tanned myself in the process until my mom was screaming that I look like I never shower *facepalm*
After few months, gradually managed to picked myself up and dive into my company Storial.co. I was honestly sick of startup world at that point, but my business partner Steve pushed me through. We signed up for acceleration program SKALA and learned tremendously on how to read meaningful datas to grow our startup.
Speak on The Future of SMEs talking specifically about the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the impact for jobs creation in Indonesia at The International Council for Small Business (ICSB) World Congress 2018. Love to hang out with smarter people than me (everyone is a Phd :D)
2019
Storial secured seed funding from Salim Group, we use the fund to successfully proven our business models with the fund and help authors earn decent income with their stories.
I healed massively physically and spiritually. More about that in my next post!
Started Gini Aja Deh, a productivity Podcast that turned out to be one of the top podcasts people listen to in 2019.
Attend Girls in Tech Retreat in Bali, met Managing Directors of Girls in Tech Indonesia from all around the world, and taught a Miracle Journal class. This year also the year I launched ‘Today I am Grateful’ a gratitude journal in collaboration with Ayang Cempaka.
Become one of brand ambassadors for SARIAYU Martha Tilaar’s campaign #FearlessBeauty. Like what??? I am super super honored to experience this, feeling grateful to be among the most beautiful and successful ladies in the photoshoot.
Won mSPARK competition by MindShare and sent to InnovFest Unbound in Singapore. Also won a Women Markeeter of The Year 2019 by Asian Marketing Federation for #WhyNot campaign by Girls in Tech Indonesia.
So, I guess judging by the different things that I did and variations of places in the world (20+ countries according to Google Maps) that I have visited (mostly traveled without using my own money), my 15 years old me with no self confidence at all, would never ever imagine something like this would happen in my life.
My conclusion: trust life, let life flow, your job is walking one step at a time. So, what’s next for me in 2020?
I’d like to talk about it in my next post!

A Day in Life of a CMO at Storial.co

I woke up at 5.30am today, starting my day with the intention of having a better day than yesterday. I listen to a guided meditation by Dr. Joe Dispenza for 20 minutes before I sit at my home office and start writing the things that I’m grateful for on my gratitude journal. I’ve been doing this practice since 2014 and it has helped me a lot to keep myself to see the brighter light in life.
When I finally open my laptop, it’s to do a lot of reading. I read news and articles related to literature, entertainment, technology and marketing industry at Feedly, while eating 500gr of my assorted fruits. I also listen to conversations across social media in the keywords that I watch closely for Storial.co. I read some business and lifestyle magazines from Magzter to feel and empathize with our target market. If I get inspired and found new ideas, I’ll take down some notes at Google Keep to explore and expand later.
I am a check list person, so I start making my to-do list of the day on my paper notebook. I start checking emails that are mostly related to approving something (press releases, storyboards, campaign ideas, etc) and make connections with potential partners.
At 8.15am daily, I receive automatic email reports on the things that I want to measure like number of new registered users, active readers and writers, number of chapters written and bought, I cross-check the data with Google Analytics and our own admin dashboard. From the data, I check marketing effectiveness by channels, I find out that our organic traffic has grown 402% in the past 6 months, but I still think that we need to double that number. I’m sending email to remind our tech team to implement the SEO strategy I’ve sent them the day before to help us increase our organic growth. I can also have a sense of trend that’s happening in the platform that I can discuss with product team to develop better user experience and the editorial team to highlight the best contents for higher conversion.
I get ready to go to a morning meeting, 2 hours before it starts. I took shower and do my hair and makeup while listening to an Audiobook at Audible. The latest book that I listen to titled, ‘This Could be Our Future’, a book by Yancey Strickler, Co-Founder of Kickstarter. I like this book for it’s offering a concept to build a society that looks beyond money and toward maximizing the values that make life worth living. I took a cab and read a book on Kindle on the way, this time, it’s a spiritual book by a Russian quantum physicist, Vadim Zeland. I like to have a strong positive start in the morning with good books.
I arrived on time for the meeting, it went well, but because there’s a fire drill at the building of our meeting, I need to walk down the 5th floor emergency stairs in my high heels. Not so bad as an early cardio!
At the office, I had a meeting with my team, updating the status of current campaigns and review the success as well as planning for our next campaigns. We’re in the business of supporting our writers to get exposure to more readers. We believe that everyone should have a chance to express themselves in writing and be rewarded for the effort they make in creating their stories. Our Premium Chapters feature have enable writers to generate income from the otherwise idle stories. We have specific growth tactics to implement inside our website and also run test ads to check if the stories can connect with wider audiences.

We’re having lunch with our investor reps slash mentor. We’re updating him our 3x growth of revenue this month, our partnerships line ups and our plans for 2020. As a good mentor as he always been, he never throw us any compliments, just an ‘almost compliments’ like, “Not bad, la!”
I am recruiting a new leader in my team, and I need to do some interviews. I am looking for someone who has analytical thinking as well as creative mind to help me out. We have strong candidates and just need to discuss with my CEO to decide the next step.
We’re perfecting our email distributions and I have approved the new email flow to maintain our users. I’ve discussed with my content team to write the most compelling messages in the emails that can inspire users to click and get back to Storial.co.
At 3pm, we had a call with a foreign investor to pitch to them. Most of the time, we get great feedback of what the industry needs and expects from us. My CEO and I usually can take 1 or 2 initiatives executed after these calls.
I got an email saying that our proposal has been approved and Storial AudioStory will be played in a cafe chain at their selected spaces all over Indonesia. I feel excited at the possibility of having more young Indonesian fall in love with local stories through this AudioStory.
In the afternoon, I go to the gym using the brand new MRT. I enjoy my time pondering while walking at Jakarta’s sidewalks and grateful for new developments in Jakarta. Strolling in front of Indonesia Stock Exchange, I saw a big bright screen with stock prices and imagine Storial to go public and going to be on the screen as well. At the gym, I do yoga, cardio or some lifts to shape up. While I’m on the treadmill, I continue listening to my Audiobook and make a little progress, as I never run more than 10 minutes.

I’m into supporting a cause related to youth, women and refugees in Indonesia. I visited refugees learning centers in Jakarta to see how can I help more in their facility. Refugees in Indonesia can’t work and can’t go to school. They need more volunteers to teach refugees kids some Math, English, Bahasa Indonesia and basic skill to use computer.
At night, I hang out for dinner with my best friends who are mostly entrepreneurs. Our conversation topics would be around fundraising, growth strategy, reaching KPIs, managing team, juggling personal life and staying sane in the process.
I try my best to sleep around 10.30pm, while reevaluating my day, what and how I can do better that day, I listen to any random guided meditation on Youtube and fell asleep.
I guess, a day in life of a Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) sounds like a normal day in life of another person, it’s just sprinkled with tons of empathy, curiosity, patience, Excel sheets, PowerPoint presentations, a mess of data on her plate. Bon Appétit!

Flourishing Fintech Innovation Through VISA Everywhere Initiative
As a Nation, we’re progressing to be better and smoother in terms of our daily financial transactions and investments. Some innovative solutions have been created in the industry, but as a developing country, technology innovation needs a lot of catch up to fix problems in society. One simple problem that yet to be solved is about the ease of sending and receiving money from abroad. Right now, it’s still expensive, difficult and mostly need manual process to do that. More products and innovations needed to make this process easier.
Last week, VISA Indonesia has launched the inaugural Visa Everywhere Initiative in Indonesia, a competition which challenges the country’s fintech startups to share their products or ideas to solve commerce challenges of the future.
VISA is looking for a solution for one of the following three challenges:
• Expand access – How might start-ups help expand financial services for the unbanked and underserved consumers and merchants in Indonesia?
