Free Book – 2-day download at Amazon.com
There’s a two-day window coming up to download my book, The Doggone Christmas list. It’s in Kindle format, but I’m hoping even those of you without a reader will download it and read it on your computer. It’s an odd time of year to be doing this, but I want to get some reviews under my belt before doing promotions later in the year.
It’s just been reduced to 99 cents, but will drop to free Friday May 3rd through the evening of Saturday May 4th.

Calvin and Hobbes – Worth Waiting For
My family all gave me book gift certificates this year, and I batched them up to buy something I’ve wanted for years. The complete collected works of Calvin and Hobbes. What a treat. Thanks all!
I find Calvin to be a character I understand all too well. When I’m coming up dry for writing ideas, I can leaf through this and regain that mischievous frame of mind. (Yes, I do lose it from time-to-time and need a recharge.)
My bucket list includes meeting #Bill #Watterson. Drop by if you’re in the neigborhood, Bill.

My iPhone Gal – What I Didn’t Tell You – 2
Tomorrow my next humor column runs. This week I have some fun with Karin and her iPhone. She’s a good sport, letting me do my tall tales and family fables, but she confided in me that she’s a bit worried people will give her a hard time about talking and driving.
So, let me be quite clear that she’s all about being legal–she has a blue tooth and uses it faithfully. (They do disappear with amazing regularity, though.) And since so much of her professional life is spent behind the wheel, it really does make sense for her to have a cell phone.
But I still think it is EVIL! Curse you, Steve Jobs.

@robblightfoot
Much of what I’m doing these days is, of course, humor. But I still am a journalist and researcher at heart. I was blown away by the Chronicle of Higher Education’s article on the debut of The Digital Public Library of America.

Exterior Art – Metal Sculpture by Ron Pecarovich – @robblightfoot
This is the last of what I’ll be posting for a while. My dad has many other styles and pieces, modern art, a dinosaur period, some amazing wall art of children, seagulls, and a series of clowns that Red Skelton would love.

Shaman by Ron Pecarovich – @robblightfoot
This piece is one of several similar pieces with a funny story. Dad kept taking the kitchen wash clothes to make the robes without telling his wife. She couldn’t figure out why they kept disappearing.
