Donna Lynn Hope
Longing, we say, because desire is full of endless distances.

With good reason, love’s messengers, Eros and Kama, are armed with bows and long-distance arrows. No being, god or mortal, can choose love. Love comes despite ourselves; and then, if we have not already done so, we have the task of becoming our selves so we may welcome love.

Heidi Jon Schmidt
I’m impressed when men go the distance to show they give a damn. That says nothing about the woman and everything about the man.
Donna Lynn Hope
Opportunistic relationships can hardly be kept constant. The acquaintance of honorable people, even at a distance, does not add flowers in times of warmth and does not change its leaves in times of cold: it continues unfading through the four seasons, becomes increasingly stable as it passes through ease and danger.
Sun Tzu
One way or another, I’ll watch her from a distance, silently and wihtout her knowledge, if that’s what it takes. And no matter how long you live–I’ll be around when you’re gone. Craig M. Mullaney
It’s easy to like someone from a distance. When You Fight For What You Believe In
Fight For What You Believe In
5 years ago, I started something that I had no idea how much it would impact the rest of my life. 5 years ago I started The Better Man Project and it permanently altered my journey.
I could tell you the story of how all of this started, the lessons I learned along the way or the dreams I have about the future…
But tonight I want to tell you a very different story. I want to tell you a story that is relevant to my life right now in this moment and a lesson that was dropped on me today.
I want to tell you a story of why you should fight for what you believe in.
The challenges that face each of us in this life are endless. They come at us every single day and we are seemingly battered with them constantly until we finally learn our lesson. But something mighty strange happens when we take a stand for ourselves, for others, and for our dreams.
When we willingly face the heat and come to a place of acceptance of the path before us, despite any obstacles or hardships that may come our way, we maintain our hunger.
That bite.
That hunger to continue moving forward.
That ability to be able to say to yourself, “No matter what comes my way I am going to carry on until I see this thing all the way through.”
I do not think I’m particularly gifted or incredibly talented. But what I do believe is that I have an undying will to continue moving forward no matter what has happened in my life.
There have been times where I have been driven down to my knees and yet I keep getting up time after time after time. No matter the circumstance, I am willing to try again because I know within my heart that there is something on the other side of whatever is going on in the current moment.
This reality was not always that easy to accept because before October I never really had accomplished a huge dream I had created for myself.
So I know what it’s like to be in a place of wondering if you can really do it. But what I can tell you, with a complete certainty in my heart, is that if you continue chasing after that dream you have in your mind you will eventually see it through.
beli
Everyone may doubt you. The haters will voice their opinion. Negativity will crawl into your mind and you will find yourself pulling off the path from time to time. But you must always maintain that you will continue no matter what it takes.
Because when you step into that moment, it really isn’t about accomplishing whatever it is that you set out to do.
It’s about what that moment gives you.
That moment gives you an understanding of who you had to become in order to achieve that dream. But more importantly…
That moment gives you the faith and willingness to step into other dreams.
When you accomplish something that you spent your entire life trying to create, you start looking at everything else you thought you could do with fresher eyes and a hunger to make it happen.
That’s what happens when you fight for what you believe in.
That’s what happens when you believe in yourself.
The Better Man Project started off as a very humble attempt to do something for 30 days because I had never done anything before that came close to achieving something in that timeframe. That 30 day commitment ended up being the thing that changed my entire life.
I have no idea where I would be right now if I didn’t follow through with that month long decision.
But it was the best decision I’ve ever made…and in this moment…sitting here writing to you 5 years later…
I could be more proud and grateful for that 21 year old kid making a decision to finally make something of himself.
I can be proud of that.
