Behind the Cover

Have a read of this blog post by the illustrator, describing the process behind the final, eye-catching cover for The Velocipede Races.

Learn why the cover is pink (some folksare addicted topink; others love purple) and see what other colors were considered. Color can make a big difference in mood and perception. Which version was your favorite?

I was tickled tolearn the name of anartistic style called “papercutting/scherenschnitte,” which is a style I love for book covers, but until now I’ve...

Beth and I will be judging over the next week or so. Revise Tales of Blood & Light Book Four. This gets a big, fatminus. I didn’t even begin. That said, I did manage to do big r...

The Velocipede Races is here!

photo 2

I spent the weekend buried in copies of The Velocipede Races, which arrived from the printers on Friday! I signed piles ofcopies for thegenerousKickstarter backers and a few early lucky patrons who came upon me with TVR copies in my hands at Flow.

The book is absolutely beautiful, with a gorgeous cover illustration by Caroline Paquette, a muscle-corset done in the color known as Hot Hollywood Crimson. (This must mean it’s time for Hollywood to realize a bike-racing feminist costume drama is...

January 2016 Goals

In December my goals were:

Finalize The Cedna. Done! It is out and you can get it here! Promote The Cedna. Well, I did as much as I could stand, but as ever, book promotion is a hated but ongoing task for me. Sterling revision. Done and sent out to 2.5 editors/readers. New writing. I read two half-done manuscripts, picked one to resume, and have started daily work on it.

And my goals forJanuary will be:

New Writing: I’m going to devote the next month’s writing days to the manuscript I picked...

Come read what she has to say, and then do your...
