Spirit Led Woman & Giveaway Winners

I grew up reading Charisma Magazine. I would devour the articles about revivals around the world and read the music reviews. Never in my wildest imaginations did I dream that an emagazine published by them would be interested in publishing my work.

You can read the article here: 5 Ways to Build a Missional Mindset In Your Children.
I just want to say that all glory and honor go to Jesus. He has opened doors that I never dreamed possible!

Love that Sets Us Free + A Little R & R Wednesdays - a linky party #

I stood in front of our bookcase with my lighter poised to light this week's two candles (my son calls them "Happy Birthday To You") . A toddler on either side of me in their pajamas looking up in wonder at that flickering flame as I carefully explained that one stands for hope , the other for love.
Love.
On Monday I read 1 John's admonition to us to love one another. He said that if we love, we know God. But if we don't love, then we don't know God - because God is love.
Now, this verse is certainly not new to me. I grew up singing the song from this verse, I memorized it 3,675 times in Sunday school, Christian school, home school, and probably heard it that many more times in sermons and Bible college.
But this time it sounded different.
God is love.
Love is so much a part of His character that it cannot be separated from Him.
It is the balancing characteristic to His holiness and righteousness.
You see, we know that because God is holy, and because He lives in us, that there are certain disciplines we ought to keep, and certain activities we should avoid. His holiness and righteousness dictates that we walk in that same holiness and righteousness.
But His love reminds us that holiness and righteousness is a process. And in that process we will fail, we will fall; but His love, that balancing characteristic to His righteousness and holiness, reaches out to us reminding us: "For a righteous man may fall seven times and rise again."
When we know God in this way, it sets us free from the legalistic performance trap that locks us into continually trying harder to prove to God how holy and righteous we are.
It also sets us free to extend the same love and grace that He continually extends to us.
So that when we see a brother or sister fail or fall, we can reach out a hand to them and remind them to get up again!
Holiness and righteousness, void of love, entrap us in a cycle of comparing ourselves among ourselves and proving by our own works that we are acceptable to Christ.
Holiness and righteousness, with love, free us to live as Christ taught us to live, knowing that by His grace we are acceptable in the beloved!
And this is the love Jesus came to give. A tiny baby in a dirty manger, born to set us free from the law that demanded perfection without grace!
Come, Thou long-expected Jesus, born to set Thy people free;
from our fears and sins release us; let us find our rest in Thee.
Israel's strength and consolation, hope of all the earth Thou art;
dear desire of every nation, joy of every longing heart.
Born Thy people to deliver, born a child, and yet a King,
born to reign in us forever, now Thy gracious kingdom bring.
By Thine own eternal Spirit rule in all our hearts alone;
by Thine own sufficient merit, raise us to Thy glorious throne.

Advent: The Candle of Hope
The joyous time of Advent has arrived! Advent is a special time for Christians as we prepare our hearts for the celebration of the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. The same hope that looked for the birth of the Savior looks today for His triumphal return. Our celebration begins as we light the first candle on the Advent wreath...the candle of Hope.
Oh, I am so thankful for the hope we have in Jesus Christ! As we light the candle of Hope, we anticipate the triumphal return of our Lord and Savior. Our hope of Jesus' return is rooted in the fulfillment of the prophecy of His birth. This prophecy and hope is spoken of in Romans 15:12-13:
And again, Isaiah says,“The Root of Jesse will spring up,
one who will arise to rule over the nations;
in him the Gentiles will hope.”May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
This hope stirs in my heart as I eagerly await the return of my Savior. Jesus, Himself, prophesied of His own return in Matthew 24:44. Jesus says here, "So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him." Every day I want to live in expectation of Jesus' return. We do not know when the hour will be, but the hope we have can fill our days with joy and peace while we are waiting because our hope rests in our God Who is faithful to do all that He has said He will do.
H Hope that Harkens to all of mankind. "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28
O Hope that Offers everlasting life. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16
P Hope that Promises made will be fulfilled. "Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful." Hebrews 10:23
E Hope that Eternity in Heaven is coming. "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am." John 14:3
What are you hoping for this Advent season? Is there anything that you are placing your hope in that is fleeting? Do you need to shift your heart's focus back to the Savior in expectation of His return during this holiday season? Let us all examine our heart's today and if need be, let us turn our eyes back to the One where our confident hope should truly rest. He definitely is returning just as He promised so long ago.
Heavenly Father, I thank You for all Your promises that are yes in Christ Jesus. My hope is found in You alone and in the promised return of my Savior. I pray that we all will keep our eyes focused in expectation of Jesus' triumphal return during this holiday season. May joy and peace fill our celebrations of the birth of Jesus and carry over into each day that we wait patiently for His return. I pray it all in the triumphant name of Jesus. Amen!
Hoping in Jesus,
Laurie

A Martyr's Christmas {Guest Post} + Red Runs the River Book Giveaway

One of the things you will see a lot at Missional Call is stories.
Stories about missionaries.
Stories about martyrs.
Stories about people sharing the gospel in unusual ways.
Stories about how God came through for people at a critical time in their lives.
Bonnie Rose from writebonnierose.com shares a heart-felt story today:
A Martyr's Christmas
The first time I remember learning about persecution was in a newsletter or church bulletin that I read. I was probably around 10 or 12 years old, and the story I read was about a group of young girls in China who were martyred when they would not deny Christ. Read More
But before you leave, don't forget to enter today's giveaway.

Yesterday we heard from Judith of WholeHearted Home who is a Missionary Kid who grew up in China and Japan. Her father has written a number of books, and is kindly offering the first volume in a 2-part action-packed novel about the persecuted church in China: Red Runs the River.

T-Minus 2 Days: #Missional Call + a 2-Book Bundle Giveaway!

Only 2 more days until the launch of Missional Call!!!
Missional Call is a ministry devoted to providing present missionaries encouragement and community, hopeful missionaries answers and advice, and former/retired missionaries a place to remain connected to the field. We seek to accomplish this by providing the best and most relevant resources that motivate, encourage and inspire as well as provide answers to their needs. As Missional Call develops, our goal is to provide an active real-time independent community of peers where present missionaries can find relationship and support while navigating the process of cultural integration.
We will accomplish this in three ways:
1. By offering support and encouragement to present missionaries. A community where they can dialogue and share their questions, struggles, fears, successes and failures and find safety among their peers.
2. By providing a place for future or hopeful missionaries where they can find answers and counsel pertaining to the field. I get a lot of emails and questions from those who have a desire to serve in missions and I really want to have a particular place where I can point to where they can find all the answers they need.
3. By reaching out to former/retired missionaries and provide them a place where they can put their experience to use by way of contributing helpful articles and serving as advisers.
And the outcome is that by doing this, we will be able to raise awareness of missions and the work of missionaries around the world.
Stop by tomorrow to find out what free resources will be available at Missional Call
But before you sign off - we have a giveaway!!!!
Misty at Simply Helping Him, is giving away a bundle of 2 of her books:

"Dear Wife: Letters from a Help Meet" is written to wives through many of the emotions they face throughout their marriages. Each letter points to God’s Word and encourages wives to look to Him when faced with emotional struggles.
