4 Weeks to an Organized YOU! {How Does Your Blog Function} + A Little R & R Wednesdays - a linky party #40

Organizing your blog
If you don't have a destination in mind, how will you know when you have arrived?  You don't start out on a road trip without a purpose, destination, route, and a map; because how would you know if you have arrived, if you don't have any idea where you plan to "arrive" to.

The same should apply to our blogging.

To what extend we apply this, depends heavily on our purpose for blogging in the first place. If our purpose is to simply share what is on our mind that day - an online journal of sorts, then this will play out rather loosely. If we have more serious goals, particularly of making an income, then we will need to have a very concrete strategy to make that happen.

There are 4 ways we can organize our blog:

Agape, Accountability and the Mission Field + 3 Winners

This month I have been all over the web talking about love, relationships, missions, kids...and...well, you just need to see for yourself.

Be sure to stop by and leave these ladies some comment-love.

3 Reasons Why Accountability Works: It really blew my mind the other day as I sat in my living room in a small village outside of Zagreb, Croatia chatting with my friend in India. Later that day I had a short conversation with another friend on the East Coast of the United States and that evening .... read more

The Eternal Essence of Love

“And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these [is] love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13
When all is said and done, the message of 1 Corinthians 13 can be reduced to three attributes: f aith, hope, love.
Faith in our brothers and sisters in Christ, the ones God gave us to walk this narrow path by our side.
Hope in their future and the finishing work God is doing in their lives.
Love for the body of Christ that never gives up, but chooses to believe the best, hope for the best and do the best to help them be better today than they were yesterday.

4 Weeks to an Organized You! {How Does Your Kitchen Function?} + A Little R & R Wednesdays - a linky party #39

I don't know about you, but when I don't have a meal plan we end up eating the same kinds of meals every single week.

Our home functions a little differently than others. Because of my  husband's shifts, I have to plan meals specific to the shift he works each week. When he's 1st shift, I can be very creative. When he's 2nd shift, he doesn't eat at home. When he's 3rd shift, I have to do simple, easy meals that don't require much preparation because our kitchen is separate from the living room where the kids are (and not large enough for 3 of us to be in it at one time).

So I have found that careful menu planning prevents kitchen crisis and boring meals.

Here are some ideas to help us organize our kitchens better:

Meal Lists - In my Home Organization Binder I have a lists of meals separated by type. Example: Soups, Salads, Italian, Mexican, Croatian, Chicken, Pork, etc. This helps me easily plan weekly menus for my family, and helps me keep things interesting.

3 Month Menu Plans - This is an awesome idea I tried and loved. You can read my post on it here. I am doing things a little differently now, but I may go back to this in the near future. It helps keep streamline everything - including shopping!

Menu Planning Bundle

Kitchen Inventory - Before I make any menu plans, I first take inventory of my pantry, fridge and freezer. This helps me to use up what I already have, so that nothing goes bad and so I don't end up purchasing what I already have.

Pre-made shopping list - There are things we always buy every month: milk, cheese, yogurt, apples, bananas...you get the idea. So, I printed out a shopping list with categories, and then pre-filled them with things I always buy. This helps to save on time...and I never forget to buy these essentials.

Freezer meals - I love doing freezer meals! It is so easy. Pinterest is my inspiration. You can see my Pinterest board here for all the ideas for freezer meals you'll ever need!  I currently have nearly a month's worth of meals in the freezer. I managed to put together 10 meals (that will feed us for 2-3 days each) in under 3 hours. It is amazing!

And I leave you with two more tips before we link up our posts:

Marriage Does not Have a Bill of Rights

We are a generation that is clearly in tune with it's rights. We live in a free nation with a right to freely worship, freely express ourselves, freely speak, bear arms, and live in humane conditions.
These are rights we are guaranteed by law.
With these rights also comes great responsibility. Religion should never attempt to persuade or overtake other religions in a violent way - no matter what expressions it dictates to its followers. When we express ourselves or speak our opinions, they should never be insulting or hurtful to others, nor should our expressions be so provocative so as to steal the innocence of children. While bearing arms, we should do so safely and should never seek to take human life - for it is precious. Man is made in the image of God.
Responsibility protects us from allowing our rights to become harmful, or from manipulating and using those around us.

#Giveaway! #Enter to Win 14 Days of Agape

Last year I embarked on a huge challenge given to me by the Lord:
Blog about 1 Corinthians 13 for 14 straight days.   Not only was this a huge undertaking...
...I was deep in writer's block and because I was felt I had nothing left to say, I almost stopped blogging.
This challenge given me by God seemed crazy! Insane! And even more.....IMPOSSIBLE!
But I decided to obey.

3 Ways to Tear Your House Down

I married later in life. Fact is, I wasn't sure if I'd ever get married. The one thing I always wanted to be was a wife and mommy. When all my school yard buddies wanted to be firemen, nurses, police officers and mailmen, I wanted to be a wife and mommy. The years of being single among all my married friends granted me an inside view into what this verse really meant:

"The wise woman builds her house, But the foolish pulls it down with her hands."

Over the years, I watched those who built their homes, while others teared theirs down.... with their own hands.
