Picture Book Feature: Draw!

Picture
It has been declared, many times, that Writing and Reading can take you places. Nearer locations you have stayed at and known for half a lifetime. Faraway places you've dreamed of, or can imagine, through the pictures in your head.

So here we have a boy.

In his room.

Reading a book about Africa.

He grabs a sketchbook and pencil, and draws and draws. He draws himself into Africa. First off, sketching out an elephant with an egret standing nearby.

Picture Picture These inner pages are from the book's official Amazo...

Looking For Cover Art?

It is one of the projects I have been working on lately. Mainly, it stems from an interest in browsing book covers at bookshops and libraries.

Since I am not good at photography and digital art (honestly, at digital-anything unless you count typing), I decided to compose book cover art the old-fashioned way: painting.

This is new to me, and I am not sure where things will head, but here goes: Picture Picture Picture
I've had a few big flops but these are the ones I'm ultimately quite pleased with. They are available at...

Picture & Quote Inspirations: We Are On Our Way.

It has been a productive period, these two or three weeks. I've been writing, revising, painting, reading, teaching, cleaning up the website a bit, and even planning for next year's projects.

Bit by bit, I tell myself.

Picture Picture Picture Picture Picture Picture Picture

I need to remember these good days. There will be times when I don't know for sure if I'm heading in the right direction.Insecurities can rattle us so. Which is whyI need to constantly remind myself that I am on my way.

That we all are, my fellow writers/bloggers/artists/grand dr...

Middle Grade Feature: Stay Where You Are & then Leave

Picture
Alfie Summerfield was turning five. He lived a relatively safe, happy life on Damly Road with his mom, his dad who delivered milk on a horse, his granny who lived across them, and had a best friend (a girl named Kalena whose father owned the local sweet shop).

Word on the streets was that a war would break out. And when it did, people were quick to say that it would be over soon, most probably by Christmas. By that afternoon, men were talking about joining the army.

A day later, Alfie found a s...

The Way He'd Lived

Picture Picture from the official Facebook page Remembering Lee Kuan Yew Singapore is in mourning. We have been so since Monday, 23rd March 2015, for our country has lost our grittiest, most far-sighted, and judging by theout-pourof condolences, most beloved founding father.Mr. Lee Kuan Yew led a team and raised Singapore from a third-world country to a first over the span of just one generation. We're celebrating our 50th birthday this year. All of us were hoping he could be there with us. Sad...

Picture Book Feature: Extraordinary Jane

Picture Meet Jane, a dog with no apparent talent in a talent-ful circus.

She isn't strong like her father and can't carry elephants.

She isn't graceful like her mother and can't do tricks on a horse.

She isn't brave like her brothers and sisters and can't be shot from a cannon or walk on a tightrope.

She is Jane. She feels like an ordinary dog and worries she doesn't fit in this circus.

The ringmaster doesn't agree ...

...

This story is about celebrating our unique selves even if...

Important! Don't Buy My Book

Picture
This one, I mean. My first picture ebook about a quiet boy finding his place in this big, noisy world. My precious work. The one I stepped into fiction publishing with. Yeah, don't buy it. Here's why:

Years ago, after I picked my ebook distributor, I sent in my manuscript (good, approved text and artwork -> let's call it 'The Original') for formatting into mobi and epub files. My distributor is quite a reputable company, and their staff is friendly. I like their wide extent of distri...
