Because You Deserve A Relaxing Minute & More
Hey Lovelies,
Saw several nice pins lately and realized I haven't done this in a while. This week, let's kick back and enjoy some chuckles from Pinterest.
After that, we have some work to do. (Yes, you and I. And I have a feeling you'll enjoy it.)
Here we go!
I laughed at this and even then, I knew it was true. I do use stuff people say or do in a story sometimes.
Could be the way someone tilts her head and her nostrils flare in indignation. Could be a pet phrase. Could be a particular s...

Lessons from An Insecure Ice Queen

There’s a wonderful support group for insecure writers and I know some of you are in it. I’ve learned a lot from you all who’ve been incredibly open about your anxieties on this creative journey.
I don’t join the group in posting because my blog topics don’t fall under that category, but this week I’d like to share a major insecurity. One that stems from my personality and which somewhat affected my creative life. One I’ve been living with ever since childhood.
Truth be told,...

When Cholera & Villains Struck (MG Feature: The Great Trouble)

Need asolid mystery/adventure to read over the weekend?
Check out this fabulous MG novel about a mudlark (one who scavenges in river mud for valuable items like small pieces of tin or copper) helping to stop The Blue Death on Broad Street in 1854.
What we now call the Great Trouble began one thick, hot, foul-smelling morning in August. 'Course, I didn't know it then. No one did.
I remember that day for quite another reason.
I was supposed to be dead. But somehow he had found me out.
Who?
Wh...

Good Ol' Adventure, Broadchurch's Sky & Insecurities
"I don't know what to blog on."
This moan has echoed clear and loud throughout writing forums and blogs.Confession: I've said this today, too. But for a totally different reason.
I have so much I want to tell you. Everything's scattered everywhere. Can't seem to focus on just one thing, so here are three or four different things I want to point you to this week:

How to Make Friends ~ Literally (Picture Book Feature: Lenny & Lucy)

Peter, his father, and their dog Harold drive through the dark woods. They're moving in to a house on the other side of the bridge.
Home. New.
Peter thinks this is a terrible idea. He tells Harold so. But what's a boy (or a dog) to do?
At night Peter and Harold looked from the upstairs window, past the wooden bridge, out to the dark woods. Terrible things hid in the trees. Neither Peter nor Harold slept at all.
In times like this, what one needs is to make new friends. So you'll feel safer.
So Pet...

It's Okay to Enjoy Working While on Vacation

Do you feel guilty that you're even thinking of work?
You're on a break! Free that mind. Relax. Stop thinking about work because your family needs you. Dang it, you need you!
But when you don't scratch that work itch and force yourself to "enjoy" your vacation, is there . . . stress gnawing at you?
You're a self-employed creative. If you don't work, you won't be able to feed your family. If you don't...

Sisters & Fox Spirits {Middle-Grade Feature: Maybe A Fox}
Hi guys, this blog is dedicated to sharing moving children's stories and I have just the right one this week. There is a pair of sisters, a fox, and good friends involved.
But I'm afraid it's not an adorable story.
It's sweet and magical . . .And as with most stories that touch us deeply, there is sadness.
And as with most remarkable stories that touch us deeply with that relatable sadness, there is also hope and strength.
I like sadder stories. They feel real. They make me hope for the protagon...

The Distance Between Two People

Can you hear it?
Voices.
Splashes upon splashes of sound.
I hear it all
like one big noise.
A big drum.
Boom. Boom.
Boom.
Boom.
They are there.
I am here.
...
I'm Here goes from an autistic boy's view of the world at the playground.
Voices are like drum beats. Loud. Louder. Almost hard to bear.
The other children are playing among themselves. They are there.
The boy is in his corner. He is here.
Is he sad or lonely? No.
He know he is here. Right here.
He feels the breeze patting his head. He notices a leaf dro...

Things I Considered During My Web Revamp (Are you tweaking your blog/website, too?)

Hi guys,
Thank you so much for waiting! It took longer than 2 weeks but my beloved space is ready. I'll bring you to the Homepage in a while.
(This post is longer than usual because there's stuff some of you might be interested in. If you're not interested in web revamp or building a writing/book business, please enter my humble shop directly and have some tea. Kidlit features will resume next week! For the rest, don't worry, I'm not selling you any course or product or anything. Just sharing s...

Revamping My Website (for the Sake of My Sanity)

There won't be a book feature these 2 weeks because . . .
I'm revamping this website! (Yes, I seem to be developing a case of constantlygivingmyselfwork-itis.)
No, my dear, not just changing the fonts. Or the colour. Some of you know I've been adjusting my sails slightly so my ship now rides towards what I can offer to others (writing/illustrating services) rather than only on what I'm selling (ebooks). So it's a direction-shift, butsame dreams, same destination.
Only,less hoarding.
And more of m...
