Book Review: A Multitude of Dreams by Mara Rutherford

A Multitude of Dreams by Mara Rutherford
Inspired by “The Masque of the Red Death” by Edgar Allan Poe, this YA fantasy has a strong gothic vibe. Plagues, pogroms, and zombie vampires, oh my! It’s tone is dark and thought-provoking. There’s even a fake princess who has to pretend to be the princess who died. The plot is fascinating and twisty. And let’s just admit—the cover is drop dead gorgeous!

Book Review: Return to Satterwhaite Court by Mimi Matthews

Another fantastic romance from Mimi Matthews. You’ll want to devour it in one sitting.
Charles chases a stray puppy to save it when he meets Kate by chance. The stray bites Kate’s finger and Charles speaks biting words. Despite their “meet rude”, Lady Katherine is intrigued by Charles. She decides to pursue him, even though he’s not entirely sure he wants to get caught.
The plot starts in a dash and doesn’t slow down. There is a swoony romance and delightful twists. You don’t have to have read the previous books in the series to enjoy this charming romance. If you have, you’ll love seeing your favorite heroes and heroines as the parents!

THE MARQUESS AND THE RUNAWAY LADY Book Discussion Questions

Book Discussion Questions How is Lady Louisa’s life like the fairytale Cinderella? Who are her “magical mice”? Is Wick doing a good job bearing the responsibilities as the head of the family? Which Stringham sister is your favorite and why? Louisa tells Wick that sharing a burden with those who love you makes it lighter. Do you agree? Have you had a similar experience? Should Belinda be held responsible for her part in Louisa’s abduction? Do you think the Rockingham’s got their proper comeuppance? Louisa longs to be loved as she is. Do we sometimes change ourselves to earn another’s approval? Or affection? How does Mantheria and Sunny’s blighted love story reflect Lord Glastonbury’s and his mistress, Lady Dutton? What are the differences? Who is the perfect governess for the Stringham sisters and why? Louisa says, “We are all wrecks, Wick. Ships beaten about by the storms of our past.” Do you agree? How does Wick finally let go of his grief and guilt over Charles and Elizabeth’s deaths?

Review: TO SWOON AND TO SPAR

TO SWOON AND TO SPAR by Martha Waters, Regency Vows #4Coming April 11, 2023 from Atria Books.
How do you keep the estate, but get rid of the unwanted husband? Haunt it! Both Jane Spencer and Viscount Penvale marry each other for Trethwick Abbey. For Penvale, it's the home of his childhood that he lost. For Jane, it's the first place that has felt like home; even if she didn't like her guardian. Jane soon learns that scaring away her guardian was much easier than her new husband. And what is even more horrifying? She might even like her husband!
I love Martha Water's playful prose and snappy writing style. The book is a hilarious take on Regency Gothic romances and would even have Jane Austen chortling. You don't need to read the previous books in the series to enjoy this one; but you really should because they are more fun than minuet.
Heat level: A married couple makes excellent use of a wall.
I received an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
