Blog Stop & Giveaway: Terra's Wrath by Meaka Kyel

"Get on with it!" Max paled. The shop shook with a sudden burst of lightning and the ensuing thunder. The man looked up to the ceiling. "Your mother knows I'm talking to you. She's very upset. Max, please. You need to hide."
Freak storms, changing climates... they're all proof that global warming is starting to change our planet. It was only a matter of time before Mother Nature got upset with the damage we were causing. What we never could have anticipated, was how she was planning to get rid of her problem.

Excerpt:
The tears slipped down my cheeks again. Happy birthday, Gabrielle. I snorted to myself. What the hell was so happy about it? I’d gotten dumped by my shitty boyfriend. Granted, I’d planned to dump him tomorrow, but that wasn’t the point. I’d knocked a girl on her ass in a bar. My chest tightened. I’d lost my best friend. How the hell had that happened? We’d been best friends for twenty-seven years. We did everything together… Well, almost everything together. In twenty-seven years, I’d never slept with him other than to sleep. Hell, I’d never even kissed him. Of course, I’d thought about it; the man had amazing lips. But he was Lane and he was my best friend. Twenty-seven years of perfect friendship wasn’t worth destroying because of one drunk impulse. Even if Michelle was right and we did feel more than friendship… things always changed when friends hooked up. What we had was perfect. Or so I’d thought.
I started to sweat from walking and swore at myself for wearing such heavy coat. If I’d been trying to be sexy and put on my little black coat, I wouldn’t be so freaking hot right now. I started to overheat and just unzipping the jacket wasn’t letting enough air in to cool me down. I slid it from my shoulders and frowned.
“What the hell?” I pulled my phone from my purse and touched the weather network app on it. Plus five. I stopped walking, pulled the battery from the back of it and rebooted it. When everything was back to normal, I checked the app again. Plus five. Of course, that was impossible. Just a couple of hours ago it had been minus thirty. I looked at the snow melting on the sidewalk. “This is messed up.”
I started walking again, faster this time. Something wasn’t right. Maybe I should phone for a cab. I looked down the street in front of me and noticed for the first time tonight that there was absolutely no traffic. A quick look at my phone told me it was ten o’clock on a Saturday night which meant it should have been packed with cars heading to bars and parties. There was movies letting out and the local hockey game was ending. Where in god’s name were all the cars?
I was about halfway home when I thought I heard something behind me. I spun around, trying to see who it was. Nothing. I pulled my cell phone out again. Enough was enough. I was calling a cab.
I screamed as something hit me in the back and I fell to the sidewalk, skidding on my knees and elbows. Whoever it was pressed a hand against the back of my head and started to squeeze. I screamed again and tried to roll to get away as the pressure increased. Realizing I had moments before I blacked out from the pain, I dug into my purse and snapped open my jackknife. I gripped it as hard as I could and swung it backwards. I heard a grunt and the hand released my head. Fighting the panic to keep slightly coherent, I bucked my attacker off of me and scrambled to my feet.
The woman facing me seemed normal enough. She was dressed for an evening out. The only thing about her that struck me as odd was her eyes. They were yellow; bright yellow, like the yellow on the vests that highway workers wore.
“La… lady? Are you ok? Do you need me to call an ambulance?” I took a step back as she took a step toward me. “I… I have my cell phone. I can get you some help.”
She rushed me which caused me to trip backwards. I fell on my back and the air left my lungs in a rush. She was on me in seconds, clawing at my face. I brought the knife around and stabbed it into her side. She fell off of me with a screech but came back just as determined as she’d been with the previous attack.
I yelled for help, hoping someone would hear. The knife was getting slippery with her blood and I jabbed it into her chest as hard as I could. This time, the wound was damaging and she fell off of me. I scrambled to my feet and started to run.
“Help!” I chanced a glance back and started to cry when I saw no one. Where the hell was everyone? My phone vibrated in my hand. Fresh tears slipped down my face at the caller ID. “Lane!”
“Thank god! Gabby, where are you?”
“On Marquis, almost at the curve.”
“I’ll be there in two minutes. I don’t know what the fuck is going on, but find somewhere to hide. There is some strange shit happening…”
I tuned out as two men started toward me from across the street. Even from this distance, I could see their strange, yellow eyes.
“I… Lane?”
“Hang on, Gabs. One more minute.”
“I… I don’t have one more minute.” I dropped the phone and wiped my hands on my dress, trying to get the blood and sweat off of them.
“Gabby!” Lane’s voice sound small and far away as he yelled into his phone. Both men stopped and turned at the sound of tires squealing around the Marquis Road curve. The one ton’s headlights flashed to the side and jumped as Lane hit the curb then straightened. I realized he was on the walking path I was on and that he wasn’t slowing down. I ran back onto the street as fast as I could, turning just in time to see both men go under the truck with a hollow thump. Lane barely slowed to get back onto the street so that he faced back toward the curve. The driver’s side door opened and my knees went weak with relief at the sight of him.Tuesday

Blog Tour & Giveaway:Music of the Heart by Katie Ashley

My Review:
It's been almost a week since I finished Music of the Heart and no lie, I want to read it again. There are few books I feel this way about. This is one of them.
It's filled with heart and soul. With relatable characters and the hot as sin rock stars of Runaway Train. Finally a rock star book has come around with female leads being "real" and the rock stars being regular guys. By regular guys I don't mean this is in a bad way, far from it. These guys are wicked hot but with a sense of humor and an everyday, not better than anyone else attitude. Sure they are successful but they don't come across as over the top.
First off, I love and adore Abby. She is such a cool chick. She is funny, smart, sweet, sincere, kind and guess what folks? She's a virgin. You read that right. So many things to love about our Abby. She has a heart of gold but isn't afraid to put you in your place. She doesn't see herself as any better than anyone else and tries to do what is right. She comes from a very religious background, but don't let her full you. She's as witty as they come, quick witted and funny as hell. Loved Abby!
Then we have Jake the hot lead singer of Runaway Train. Jake has demons and he isn't perfect but we soon learn why he is the way he is and you can't help but have sympathy for him. The chemistry between Jake and Abby is instantaneous and on fire. Jake makes a few mistakes along the way and you certainly want to smack him a couple of times, but all in all, you get it and you get him.
I read this book in one evening and even sacrificed sleep on a work night to finish it. I couldn't put it down and was pissed as hell when it was over.
The beauty of it is, we will get the opportunity to get to know Rhys and AJ better. The other single members of the group, who add a lot to the story line of Music of the Heart.
This is not a story to wait on. Looking for a new rocker book, one with hot as sin guys, a girl with a sense of humor and a story, that will have you pissed when you finished it too quickly? Grab it and read it because you will fall in love with the members of Runaway Train.

Blog Tour Stop & Giveaway: A Moment by Marie Hall

Ryan Cosgrove and Liliana Delgado are on a collision course with destiny. They don't know it yet, but before the night is over their lives will be forever changed.Spending Valentine's Day at a burlesque bar, hadn't been Liliana's ideal way of spending a Friday night. She'd much rather be back at campus, doing homework... until she meets Ryan. Tall, athletic, and gorgeous, Lili can't keep her eyes off him, and despite his gruff manners and drunken disposition she's intrigued.
Ryan's got demons, and they're deep, dark, and eating him alive. Regardless of his attraction to the petite brunette he's tired of fighting, of pretending the last fifteen years haven't been a daily struggle just to get out of bed every morning. That night he decides to end his pain, to leave it all behind and float away into the blessed darkness of oblivion. But fate has other plans for him, Lily finds and rescues Ryan, determined she'll not only save his body, but his soul too.
This is their moment...

Review of A Moment:

A moment by Marie Hall.
This book was amazing , it's hard to describe but my emotions were on high alert. It has so many high and low moments, its sometimes hard to catch your breath.
This book follows two amazing people Ryan Cosgrove (who doesn't think he's amazing) and Lilianna Delgado. Both feeling alone in the world and have only themselves  to rely on (or so they think).
Ryan Cosgrove has Demons nipping at his heels for the last 15 years, tragic circumstances lead him to believe he is dirty and unlovable, some days he can wipe it away with booze, sex, and fighting but some days break him and leaves him wishing for death. Lilianna Delgado has her shares of hardship, getting pregnant at the age of 14 with a autistic child who can't communicate with her, a boyfriend that left her all those years ago. A mother who got sick with cancer and a father full of disappointment leaves his wife and daughter behind for a better life. Struggling with nursing school, a job and family Lili is burned out.
A chance meeting between the two that didn't go well but kept a lasting impression on them both. Tragedy brings them closer and  brings these two lost souls back together. Ryan a warm, amazing , compassionate man reaches for Lili, feeling her strength and kindness he is drawn to her. Lili can't believe a man like Ryan would ever fall for her, he's gorgeous and loving. Although their relationship is full of ups and downs, heartache and passion they can't let each other go. This writer wrote some great characters and the story is amazing, it was hard to put down ....a must read....I give it a 4.5 star review.

Excerpt:Ryan
Fuck! This is just what I need.
The bastard cracked my jaw in two places, granted they’re hairlines, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t throb like a sonofabitch.
It was worth it though.
I smirk, even though doing it makes the pain feel like someone’s shoved a hot poker through my face. I don’t care. It’s done. Over. Never again.
The doctors gave me pills, sent me home.Home.
I don’t have one of those anymore.
But I don’t care. I’m more free now than I’ve ever been. My parents, they’ve never believed me. Just think I’m a big fucking screw up. I barely graduated high school. There goes Ryan, such a disgrace to his parents. Such good god-fearing people, what a shame to be saddled with something like that.
I’ve heard it all before.
It stopped bothering me a long time ago.

But today I had to do it-- had to confront my uncle, because I’m eighteen and I’m a man and I had to show him that.
Never again. Not to anybody else. I pounded that truth into his fat face with my bloody fists.Flexing my fingers I stare at the swollen and distorted mass of tissue. The sun is beating down on my head. All I have left in this world are the clothes on my back. I’m not going back home, couldn’t even if I wanted to.My dad kicked me out after the fight, says he can’t handle me anymore. Honestly, I think he would have found a reason anyway, but this fight was the perfect excuse-- a way for him to maintain his spotless reputation within the community.
All I ever wanted is for him to fucking believe me. But his chance is over. I’m done and no matter what anybody else says, I’m not stupid, but with my grades there won’t be any college in my future.
Glancing down the busy street it takes me all of two seconds to decide where I’m going.
Away.
Far, far away from Austin, Texas. In fact, I want out of the country.
I can’t breathe here anymore.
I’m joining the Marines and I’m going to war.

Bio:
Marie Hall has always had a dangerous fascination for creatures that go bump in the night. And mermaids. And of course fairies. Trolls. Unicorns. Shapeshifters. Vampires. Scottish brogues. Kilts. Beefy arms. Ummm... Bad boys! Especially the sexy ones. Which is probably why she married one!

On top of that she’s a confirmed foodie, she nearly went to culinary school and then figured out she could save a ton of money if she just watched food shows religiously! She’s a self-proclaimed master chef, certified deep sea dolphin trainer, finder of leprechaun’s gold at the end of the rainbow, and rumor has it she keeps the Troll King locked away in her basement. All of which is untrue, however, she does have an incredibly active imagination and loves to share her crazy thoughts with the world!

New Covers for Michelle Leighton's Bad Boys Series Plus a Blurb from Everything for Us

Special Blurb from Michelle Leighton's new book in the Bad Boys Series, Everything for Us

“They’re just parts, like any other woman’s,” she replies breathlessly, trying to be casual.

“I’d be willing to bet your parts are exceptional.  In fact, now might be a good time to warn you that if we come back to this library, I’ll find out for myself.  In this very spot.  I’ll push you up against the books in the corner and I’ll put my hands on you.  I’ll do things to you.  In the quiet.  And you won’t be able to make a sound.  Not a whimper, not a moan.  You’ll have to bite your lip to keep it all inside.  And you know what?” I ask, reaching up to trace my index finger along her full, trembling lower lip.

“What?” she whispers, her pupils two dilated dots of excitement.
“You’ll love every second of it.”

With a wicked grin, I take the books from her arms and turn to walk back the way I came.

My review:
My first thought when I finished this book was, WOW. What a fantastic first book that is written so incredibly well. Let me start by saying that I have a thing for books that discuss hard topics. I like a read that gives you something to think about and takes you to a place that most do not.

Lilly has been through hell and back. Her mother and brother died in a tornado and she is left to fend for herself with her father. Dean is the boy she loved as a child and still harbors feelings for. Lilly's father is horrific. She hides away in her room and only comes in or out when he's not home. Lilly is as strong as they come. She never complains, or asks for help and takes it day by day just waiting until she can leave the small town and her father behind. Lilly has many layers to her. She's sweet and kind and rolls with the punches. If only we could all have a little Lilly in us all...

Dean never once forgot about Lilly but has come back to town to take her back and to beg for her forgiveness knowing that they truly belong together. Dean is a hunk. He is sweet, genuine and remorseful. He takes responsibility for his actions and doesn't waste time telling Lilly exactly how he feels.

Adley is Lilly's best friend whom you can't help but fall in love with right off of the bat. She has Lilly's back and would fight tooth n' nail for her.
Violet is Dean's Grandmother and matriarch of the story. To me she was the heart and the glue. She is a spitfire of a lady that tells it like it is but loves fiercely and unconditionally.

What a powerful read that deals with the topic of physical, verbal and emotional abuse. It's a story also about love and family. I am so proud to have had the chance to be an ever so small part of this journey with Sarah. It's a fantastic read that I didn't want to put down. It was over before I knew it and I seriously can not wait to see what else Sarah has up her sleeve...
