Review: Nowhere to Run by Nina D'Angelo-Review by Tami Norman

Let me start by saying how excited I am that Heather has let me join Into the Night as a guest reviewer - I just hope I do her justice!
My first review is for Nowhere to Run by Nina D'Angelo - who happens to be a fellow Aussie (I almost feel like I need to declare a conflict of interest because that's enough for me to already think she's awesome!!).

Nowhere to Run centre's around Stephanie Carovella, an investigative journalist. Intelligent, driven and fiercely loyal Stephanie will do whatever it take to keep those she loves safe, including walking away from everything and everyone she loves.

Having left her life in L.A. behind without so much as a goodbye to a number of her friends, Stephanie reluctantly returns following the brutal murder of one of her closest friends. Before Stephanie can identify who is responsible others are killed in startlingly similar circumstances and Stephanie is forced to acknowledge that she is central to the deaths mounting up around her.

Nowhere to Run is an outstanding “who dunnit”- the entire time I was reading I was wracking my brain trying to identify who the bad guy was. There were so many possibilities and just when I thought I had it, a new piece of information would present itself and I be looking for a new suspect.

The supporting cast adds great value to the story. I particularly liked Gena Evans, the gritty LAPD Detective with a love/hate relationship with Stephanie. Despite the fire and venom that only good female friends can generate, they are loyal and as Jake points out to Gena at one point "when the going gets tough, you two unite and you're one hell of a formidable team".

There is a good mix of mystery and romance in the story - not only are you trying to work out who the killer is, but you're wondering what is going to happen in the relationship stakes for the characters. The murders are rather gruesome, with fairly detailed descriptions provided of the injuries inflicted on the victims. If you're at all squeamish you may not enjoy those parts, but it is fairly important detail in establishing the psychological profile of the killer.

Nowhere to Run caught my interest early and kept me hooked - right to the end.   Nina D'Angelo cleverly sets up the second book "Nowhere to Hide" in the Epilogue, and I for one, will be looking to read the next book in the Stephanie Carovella series.
4 out 5 stars

She has never needed anyone in her life and has survived on her own since she was 18, never looking back. When she gets her dream promotion and becomes the new editor at one of the biggest publishing houses in Arizona, she thinks she has finally figured it all out. But, when Aston receives an invitation to her first love's wedding, she starts to re-evaluate just how much she has given up for her career. Sloan Holden is the quintessential bad boy trying to cover all that up with his good boy act. His strong calloused hands and the way they used to tease and press hard inside of me. How is tongue would only have to graze the tip of my nipples to send me into a euphoric state. The way he used to push me up against the wall and…. Ah fuck! If I didn’t walk away now, bad things were going to happen. I could feel it, deep down. In that area to be more exact.

My Awesome Guest Reviewer Marcia Woodell-Her review of Beautifully Broken by Amanda Bennett

Ok first and foremost writing reviews isn't my forte, I get nervous and always think I won't give the book/author justice but I will try my best.Description: Heart-wrenching and an Emotional rollarcoaster ride.
This story is about 2 childhood friends who have been through everything imaginable together, always have had each other's backs no matter what life threw at them. Gray & Bennett's feelings start to deepen for each other more with each passing year. Both Gray and Bennett tend to ignore it or hide from it instead of facing it headfirst. There were times where I wanted to Scream or Slap em' both upside their heads to see if some sense would get knocked into these two. Gray and Bennett made things quite difficult at times for one another when it needn't be. They both spend more time hurting or running away from the other than loving each other like there's no tomorrow. Gray & Bennett both know from personal experience life is too short so they should Embrace their love and live life to the fullest. Even though there were times I felt their anguish or got teary-eyed I just couldn't help myself from turning the page to see if these two Heartbroken Soulmates would get it right. Gray & Bennett have been through life's wringer in more ways than one. I Wanted Gray & Bennett to put their stubbornness aside. I Needed them to get their Happiness they so Truly Deserved. Now I can't help but Want/Need the sequel so that I may find out if Gray & Bennett can have their Happily Ever After!!!! 4 stars

Heather's Big Thank You Giveaway!!

I started blogging almost 6 months ago for several reasons. One I have ALWAYS had a mad love of books and two everyone always asked me what I was reading. I never go anywhere without my kindle and it's always attached to my hip. Literally. In fact I have 2. I wanted to share my love of not only the books I love but the incredible talent of the Author's themselves and this became the forum in which for me to do it.
I love running a blog and it's the best thing I ever started. However, it is time consuming and you need to put 100% in to it. I also never want to compromise. Which is why I have decided to take on guest reviewers who will be posting book  reviews on the Into the Night Reviews blog. I never want to turn anyone away and I want to make sure that you get as many reviews on all of these books as much as possible.
The best part about this whole experience is the many, many life long friends I have met along the way. I wanted to celebrate big. So celebrate we will!!
So I decided to run a HUGE Heather's Big Thank You Giveaway. Two celebrations in one. A thank you to my followers as well as celebrating my almost 6 month blog birthday.  I was too excited to wait until tomorrow and decided to start the celebrating early. If you notice I also included paperbacks on books that haven't been released yet...  ;)

8. Favorite Holiday: Thanksgiving, you know my mom, right?
9. Favorite TV show: The Following and the Americans
10: Favorite Pet: Our hedgehog, Oak, again...wait for Down 'N' Derby

My review of How it Rolls
How it Rolls was a book I was highly anticipating. Was it worth the wait and did it exceed my expectations? Oh yeah and so much more...

I adored Falcon from Love & Skate and couldn't wait for his story. Falcon is absolutely perfect. He is the care taker of the family. Nellie's best friend and the "suit" of the family. He rocks is awesome Mohawk while wearing converse shoes and his suit. Yes an actual suit, not his birthday suit. Get your head out of the gutter.

Reed is a beautiful, orange haired and too thin girl who catches Falcon's eye quickly. Reed is hiding a few secrets that she is embarrassed and not ready to spill.
True to the Black Family way they take Reed into their home and into their hearts. Reed finds a family that she hasn't known in a long time.
However, nothing is ever perfect when there are secrets involved...

Lila's books are a breath of fresh air. There aren't a lot in this genre being written anymore. How awesome is it that you can always trust to know that her books are suitable for the YA audience? From page 1 she grabs your attention and you have to make yourself put it down. I know I must sound like a broken record because I say this every dang time. She sets the scene and you live it with these characters. I am invested in the Black family and will follow them wherever they may lead.
Let's see who is reading these posts... The first 5 people to comment below will receive a signed book mark  by Lila Felix! ;)

Book Blitz & Promo Post for The Closure & The Promise by Kim Carmichael

Synopsis:

Demon Dolan Ciar exists on three simple words: desire, denial, and destruction. Every four years, he is allowed one night of earthly passion to punish a deserving female. By the time he is finished, his victims are left as willing receptacles for demons yet to come.

Since she was four, a demon has been the only constant in Leora Desmond's life. He taught her how to seize control, to never give up, and to take whatever she wanted. At twenty-four, her self-centered existence is focused on one thing. She wants Dolan, and she won't be dissuaded.

A mistake brought Dolan to Leora. A promise bound him to her. Returning once again to ask for his freedom, he is faced with Leora demanding to be his next conquest. The ultimate retribution would be to take from her the ultimate symbol of her selfishness.

Now, Dolan must decide if he can doom her to life in living hell or face his own set of unearthly consequences, while Leora must choose between her pleasure and her heart.

The Promise blurs the line between good and evil, desire and love, and promises and commitment.

For the Corn Family-HUGE Charity Auction in their honor

On the night of February 10th, 2013, Matthew Corn passed away in a tragic accident. It’s impossible to sum up the life and vibrant personality of one person in a few short sentences. To say Matt will be missed is an understatement of gross proportions. He was a loving husband and devoted father, quick to give his family everything they needed and more. Matt moved from Pittsburgh to Savannah with his wife, Daniele, to work at Gulfstream. Here they had three children: Ben, 5, Andrew, 2, and Lily, 1. He was a hard worker; always giving one hundred and ten percent to his job, but never missed the chance to joke. He was known for being obsessively organized and neat. If you wanted to see him panic, all you had to do was move his tools out of order or get his jeep dirty. Matt was an avid Pittsburg Steelers fan and Pittsburg Penguins fan, more than willing to go nose to nose for his favorite teams. He loved the outdoors and off-road ramp competitions. He spent time fishing and hunting with his children, eager to instill his love of nature. His friends knew him as a person that would drop everything if you needed help.
Now, it’s our turn to help. With the generous donations of these wonderful authors, we hope to raise money for the Corn Family to help with medical and living expenses. His loss has left a hole in the hearts of his family and friends that will never be filled, but it is our sincere wish that this auction will ease some of the burdens they face. The website, www.forthecornfamily.us [image error]

As a blogger I am honored to be a part of this community. A community that stops what they are doing to help those in need. To offer up goods and services for a greater cause. This is what it is all about. Charity, not the word its self but the actions behind the word.
Here is our chance to help a family in need. Let's show what the Indie community as a whole has to offer and show how generous we all can be.
Thank you ahead of time!!
