Cover Reveal: Confessions After Dark by Kahlen Aymes

Confessions After Dark by Kahlen Aymes is the second novel in the After Dark series. Angel and Alex's journey continues...

Title: Confessions After DarkAuthor: Kahlen AymesSeries: After Dark #2Genre: Contemporary RomanceOrganised by: BestSellars and BestStellars

Sparks Fly … Lines Blur… and Hearts Break.

Alexander Avery is rich, powerful and the sexiest man Angeline Hemming has ever laid eyes on. He’s the man every woman dreams about, and she’s not immune to his sensual and ruthless pursuit. Alex is intoxicated by the beautiful doctor; overwhelmed with desire like he’s never known.

As the profiling case Angel is working on gets more and more dangerous, Alex finds himself filled with unfamiliar panic and emotional turmoil as his need to protect her goes against Angel’s adamant insistence that she doesn’t need his help. Alex isn’t a man to sit on the sidelines when the woman he’s obsessed with is threatened, so he takes control to protect her without telling her of his plans.

Angel’s fortitude is shaken when her stalker invades not only her personal life but also those close to her… even when that someone is powerful and seemingly untouchable. Professional ethics insist she keep the details or her work away from her lover, even as their new found closeness has her yearning to confide in him. But, as Angel’s quest to protect her heart from Alex’s undeniable pull equals her need to keep him out of a dangerous situation, circumstances dictate a huge decision; which will have detrimental, and irreversible consequences for them both.

When danger threatens and jealousy reaches the boiling point, lies will be told and secrets kept… Even with the best intentions and the most undeniable connection … the deepest of loves will be tested.

Instantly, Angel’s mood changed. He was impeccably dressed in a dark, expertly tailored navy suit, crisp white shirt, and a silk tie in shades of silvery grey and navy. She raised her eyebrow and grinned.

“To what do I owe this honor?”

Alex glanced around her office, registering the same elegant style that graced her condo: dark woods, sleek but plush upholstery, fine art, and a Persian rug that covered the majority of the floor in dark teals, ivory, and light mauves. He walked around her desk and took her hand, pulling her up and into his arms.

He’d recognized the bastard he’d just passed in the reception area. After seeing his face, he did recall the billboards and commercials for his dry cleaning business.

Alex sighed. His determination to ruin Swanson’s life renewed as he pulled Angel closer. He hated her job, hated the risks that came with it, hated the way it made him feel, and really hated the fucker that just left. If he had his way, he’d never let her out of his sight. But, he couldn’t tell Angel any of that.

“It’s simple. I wanted to look at you. You’re beautiful.”

Angel calmed as his arms wrapped around her and hers slid around his neck of their own volition. His green eyes burned over her face, the intensity out of place for a casual visit. “Well, you’re seeing me,” she said softly. The fingers of her right hand ghosted over his jaw as she met his gaze before her lids dropped and her chin tilted, silently asking for his mouth to find hers.

His lips hovered above hers as he breathed in her sweet scent; he moved the tip of his nose slowly around hers. “Are you okay? Who was that?” Alex wanted to see if she’d tell him the truth.

“Just a subject. Are you gonna kiss me or what?”
He laughed quietly as he teased her mouth with light licks and gentle brushes.

“Depends on the or what.”

Angel giggled. “Oh, baby, don’t tease me.”

“Oh, I will. You can count on it.”

“Promises, promises.”

Alex’s hand moved up her back to thread through her silken hair that was falling in soft waves down her back. His pulse quickened as his mouth finally found hers in a hungry kiss, his tongue invading her mouth until...

Title: One to KeepAuthor: Tia LouiseRelease Date: Jan 15, 2014Genre: Contemporary RomanceTour Host: The Book Nuts Author Promotions

There's a new guy in town...

"Patrick Knight, single, retired Guard-turned private investigator. I was a closer. A deal maker. I looked clients in the eye and told them I'd get their shit done. And I did..."

Patrick doesn't do "nice."

At least, not anymore.

After his fiancée cheats, he follows up with a one-night stand and a disastrous office hook-up. His business partner (Derek Alexander) sends him to the desert to get his head straight--and clean up the mess.

While there, Patrick meets Elaine, and blistering sparks fly, but she's not looking for any guy. Or a long-distance relationship.

Patrick's ready to do anything to keep her, but just when it seems he's changed her mind, the skeletons from his past life start coming back.

Suppressing a grin, I cupped her cheeks again and covered her mouth with mine. Her lips parted, and our tongues met. I felt her relaxing, and in that moment, the questions in my head were answered and the answers satisfied me deeply. She was mine. No matter what came next. With a calm confidence, I knew I’d never let her go again.

My mouth moved to her cheek. “Nobody’s getting over anybody here. So why torture us both?”

Her body shook with her small laugh. “Aren’t you trained for torture?”

“Yes, but you’re not.”

She slid down and put her cheek against my chest again. My fingers threaded into her silky hair. She was so beautiful in my arms.

Her head turned, and she rested her forehead on me, exhaling deeply. “I still don’t want a long distance relationship.”

But her words didn’t knock the breath out of me like the first time. Back then, I wasn’t sure of anything. Now everything had fallen into place. Everything felt possible. I pushed against the mattress, sitting up and bringing her with me. Her green eyes glistened when they met mine, but I smiled.

“So we’ll figure it out,” I said, smoothing my thumbs over her cheeks. “We’ll get through the weeks however we can, we’ll be together on the weekends, and we’ll figure out what the future’s going to look like. This distance is not forever.”

Her head dropped, but only for a moment. When she lifted it again, she moved forward, wrapping her arms around my neck. My hands spanned her waist before sliding up her body to her beautiful breasts. The scent of cactus flower surrounded me, and I lay her back, ready to catch up on all the days we’d missed.

“Now, that first time was amazing, but it went way too fast.” I covered one tight nipple with my mouth and then the other as her little moans began, her fingers threaded in my hair.

“You think?” she sighed.

“Yes,” I said against her body, traveling lower. I kissed her flat stomach, inhaling the warm perfume lingering on her skin. She whispered my name, and I gave her belly one more kiss before catching her thighs and spreading them open...

Release Day Blitz: A Cry for Hope by Beth Rinyu

A Cry For Hope Release Party
March 14, 2014 07:00 PM EST
Come and join in the fun at the Facebook Release Party as we celebrate the release of
A Cry for Hope  by Beth Rinyu.

Hope McAdams life as she knew it ended on the same day that her eight year old son’s did.

Eight months later she's trying to regain some semblance of normality, while trying to repair her once perfect marriage to a man who was her best friend, but now a complete stranger. Coming to the painful realization that she must fix the hole that’s deep within her heart, she goes home to the place that she grew up in hopes that time and distance will heal her wounds and lead her back to the man she loves.

Nick Abate is an old friend of Hope’s whose heart is also on the mend. He’s home on leave from the Marines, and when he and Hope reconnect, their friendship picks up right where they left off, years ago. They both begin to heal and feel whole again with the help of each other. But when their friendship crosses the line, will Hope be able to forgive herself and move on, or will the guilt that she is harboring once again cause her to slip back into the place that she has just escaped?

What happens when two tortured souls place their trust in each other? Will they find their way back to the ones they love or will their hearts remain connected forever?

“Look at me, Jamie! Look at me and tell me that you’re willing to walk away from everything we have and I’ll be gone. I’m not ready to give up on us but if you are, then just say the words and I’ll stop trying.”

“Hope, stop it!”

“Stop what? Stop trying? Stop trying to have the man that I love more than anything in this world love me back? Stop trying to make myself feel worthy of your love again? What do you want me to stop Jamie?”

“What do you want me to say Hope? That everything’s going to be okay? That things are going to be the way they used to between us because I don’t know if that’s ever going to happen. Or do you want me to take you upstairs and fuck you like a stranger, the same way I’ve been for the past eight months?”

“I don’t know what I want any more Jamie. I miss my husband. The man that I could tell anything to. The one that I used to laugh and cry with. The one who would hold me in his arms and comfort me whenever I was feeling down.”

“He’s gone Hope. He drowned in that ocean the same day that Charlie did.”

I bit my lip and fought the tears. “So what are you trying to tell me that I’m just keeping myself afloat in this marriage only to have you never resurface?”

His eyes filled with tears. “I wish that I could answer that question for you but I can’t. Because the truth is, I don’t even know the answer to it myself.”

I grabbed a napkin from the counter and wiped my eyes. I tried to catch my breath between my sobs and gain enough composure to speak coherently. “I’m sorry for taking my eyes off him for that split second that day. I didn’t mean for it to happen. I loved him too and I’m hurting just as much as you. And if it makes you feel a little better by punishing me for it this way, then I’m willing to subject myself to it, because I still love you so much that it hurts.”

Ever since I can remember, I have always enjoyed Creative Writing. There was always something about being able to travel to a different place or become a different person with just the stroke of a pen - or in today's world a touch of the keyboard. I am the author of The Exception To The Rule, An Unplanned Lesson, An Unplanned Life and Drowning In Love. I am currently working on A Cry for Hope....stay tuned!

My life is not as interesting as my books or the characters in them, but then again whose life is? I was born and have lived in New Jersey my whole life. I'm a mom of twin teenage boys, a teenage stepson, a crazy Border Collie and a cat with an identity crisis! I guess you can say writing is my form of Calgon! I am married to a wonderful guy - but we'll keep that between us, I don't want him getting a big head!

Thanks for taking the time to learn about my books and me! If you decide to read them (and I hope you do!) please be sure to go on and review it for me - yes, even if you don't like it!

Blog Tour: Anomaly (Causal Enchantment #4) by K.A. Tucker

Welcome to our stop on the blog tour for K.A. Tucker's Anomaly . This is book #4 and the final instalment in the Causal Enchantments Series - which has been fabulous so far.  I couldn't wait to read the conclusion to Evangaline's story and I was not disappointed!

She was merely a pawn in their game. And then something happened.
Once the fragile, naïve human, Evangeline has become altogether … different.
A being who holds formidable power, she may be the key to changing the course of fate.
Or she could be the final nail in the world’s coffin.
But Evangeline doesn’t know exactly what she is, what she can do. She knows only that she has to stop an enemy far worse than the Sentinel and the sorceresses—one driven by revenge.
And he’s hunting the man she loves.
As Evangeline fights to keep Caden alive and the human population from eradication, she can’t help but sense the imminent doom.
Find out if fate will prevail in the harrowing conclusion to the Causal Enchantment series.

Anathema (book #1 in this series) was one of the first indie books I read when I got my first kindle (yes, I now have more than one!) just over two years ago. It was (and still is!) free and as a someone who tends to choose paranormal reads as my 'go to' genre, I loved the vampire and witch element. I worked my way through the first three books in the series, increasingly falling in love with the characters, the story line and K.A.'s writing style. I couldn't wait for Anomaly to come out and jumped at the blog tour sign up when I saw it.

Anomaly was the perfect conclusion to this series. The romance element was light, but it was fitting given the stage of development of relationships between characters. The entire time I was reading I was on the edge of my seat: the suspense K.A. created was amazing and I was desperate to understand what the fate of the characters, and in fact the world, was to be. I was hooked back into the story really quickly, even though quite some time had passed since I finished book #3. In fact I was quite surprised at the detail I was able to recall from previous books as I read Anomaly, which for me was a testament to K.A.’s story telling.

While there are a number of amazing characters in this series my favourites have always been Evangeline, Caden and Sofie, and book #4 was really about Evangeline's 'coming of age'. In the preceding books she was very much the vulnerable one, at risk on many fronts, with Caden and Sofie working to protect her. Now, there are things about Evangeline that no-one understands and she is far from the helpless girl she was before. Evangeline faces many challenges and is forced to question things she never thought possible. As she comes to grips with what is happening to her she begins to realise the fate of the world may very well rest in her hands and she must make choices about who she can trust, who she can't and just what she is prepared to do.

If you've started this series and enjoyed it I can't imagine you not following through to the conclusion, and in my humble opinion, I don't think you'll be disappointed with this final instalment. If you haven't yet picked up the Causal Enchantment series then you should. It is a different take on vampires, with witch magic thrown in and not to mention the pesky Fates manipulating circumstances for their own entertainment. K.A. Tucker has a gorgeous writing style and has built a world (in fact more than one) that is easy to get lost in.

4 out of 5 stars

Release Event: The Swan and the Jackal (In the Company of Killers #3) by J.A. Redmerski

THE SWAN & THE JACKAL (In the Company of Killers, #3)By NYT Bestselling Author J.A. RedmerskiAn Adult Suspense/Crime/Thriller/Romantic Suspense Releasing March 5, 2014

Fredrik Gustavsson never considered the possibility of love, or that anyone could ever understand or accept his dark and bloody lifestyle—until he met Seraphina, a woman as vicious and blood-thirsty as Fredrik himself. They spent two short but unforgettable years together, full of lust and killing and the darkest kind of love that two people can share.

And then Seraphina was gone.

It’s been six years since Fredrik’s lover and sadistic partner in crime turned his world upside-down. Seraphina went into hiding and has eluded him ever since. Now, he’s getting closer to finding her, and an innocent woman named Cassia is the key to drawing Seraphina from the shadows. But Cassia—after sustaining injuries from a fire that Seraphina ignited—suffers from amnesia and can’t give Fredrik the information he desperately seeks. Having no other choice, Fredrik has been keeping Cassia locked in his basement as he not only tries to get her to recall her past—because she and Seraphina share it—but also to protect her from Seraphina, who clearly wants her dead.

But Cassia is a light in the darkness that Fredrik never believed existed. After a year subjected to her kindness and compassion, he finds himself struggling with his love for Seraphina, and his growing feelings for Cassia—because he knows that to love one, the other must die.

Will light win out over darkness, or will something more powerful than either further destroy an already tortured soul?

Note: The Swan and the Jackal is NOT a New Adult title. It, and all other books in the series are categorized as Suspense/Crime/Thriller/Romantic Suspense and Adult.

Cassia pushes herself closer when I thought she couldn’t get any closer and urges me to look at her. Her right hand moves toward my face to console me, but I stop it, holding it at the wrist and pushing it back down.

“The only one of us who should be talking about our past, is you,” I tell her.

Her doe-like eyes fall under a shroud of disappointment.

But she’s not going to give up so easily.

“You’ve asked so much of me, Fredrik,” she says with such kindness, “but when I ask anything of you, you turn me away. I only want to know this one thing. I don’t care anymore about Seraphina, or the history you have with her. I don’t even care what I have to do with it.” Her soft hand ends up touching the side of my face anyway, and I’m not sure how she slipped it past my barrier. “All I care about anymore is you, Fredrik.” She peers deeply into my eyes and ensnares my gaze, her face full of heartbreak and longing. “What are your demons trying so hard to kill?”

I push her hand away more forcibly this time.

“Do you remember anything?” I ask, disregarding her question altogether.

“Stop,” she says with more intensity than I expected. “You’re going to give me this. Before you leave me alone down here another night, you’re going to tell me.”

The desperation in her eyes bores into me. I look away, only to look right back at her.

“Please…,” she says.

A lump moves down my throat and settles somewhere in my chest. All ten of my fingers spear through the top of my dark, messy hair and I let out a miserable sigh of defeat.

I never talk about my past to anyone. Ever. I try not to think about it, but on some days that is as futile as trying not to breathe. It wasn’t until I met Seraphina eight years ago that I learned to control it, that I became a much different man from the one who hunted shit stains like Dante Furlong, tortured and murdered them every other night, never feeling the satisfaction that I longed to feel with every kill. I was like a drug addict, always looking for a fix but never really satisfied enough to stop. Never satisfied at all, because I only wanted to do it more and more.

Seraphina helped me control the perpetual urges. She showed me how to release the darkness within me with quieter, cleaner methods so that I didn’t leave a trail of bodies and evidence behind. But the biggest impact that Seraphina had on my life was making me feel like I had one. Because before her, I was just a speck of dust floating around in oblivion. I didn’t know the meaning of happiness, or understand the thrill of pleasure or the hunger for excitement. I was just a shell of a man who knew only darkness and death, who only felt the emotions of anger, and hatred, and rage and vengeance.

But Seraphina, she was my dark angel, who came into my life and showed me that there was so much more to living than I ever understood. Ever since she left me in that field the night she set my house ablaze, I’ve been slowly but surely succumbing to my old life again, and I need to find her before I fall too far.

If I haven’t already.

He happens to be the well-known MMA Heavyweight champion and famous bad boy, Matt ‘The Destroyer’ Reynolds, who once before struggled to help his family pay the bills. Now, he has money flowing with each undefeated win and an insurmountable number of women filling his bed. Everything is perfect for the illustrious fighter, until one day it all changes. In walks the girl from his past, the same girl who promised to stick by him but left and never looked back.

Their second chance to make things right will not come easy, for when one mistake is made an unwelcome consequence soon follows. Someone out there wants to rip them apart and they won’t stop until Matt and Shelby pay the ultimate price … their love.

Sliding the box of strawberries to my side, I grabbed one of the dark chocolate ones and rubbed it across her swollen lips. “Sweetheart, I don’t think this is torture, but I am getting ready to show you what torture is.

Cover and Synopsis Reveal: Tattered Pieces by Heather Gunter

We're excited to be part of the cover and synopsis reveal for Tattered Pieces by Heather Gunter.  This looks and sounds decidedly different to what we've seen from Heather before in her NA Changing Series and her YA Love Notes Series and the cover has definitely caught our attention.  What do you think??

Title: Tattered PiecesAuthor: Heather GunterGenre: New AdultRelease Date:  TBACover Design: Robin Harper of Wicked by DesignEvent organized by: Into the Night Reviews

Riding high on the waves of success, Dove Sinclair, lead singer of Tattered Pieces, has it all - until one fateful night her party hard lifestyle almost costs her everything. Stupid and reckless doesn't even begin to describe her actions. Getting arrested definitely wasn't in the game plan, nor was an enforced stay in the Serenity Lakeview Clinic. If Dove wants to keep her band, her career and her life, then there is no alternative. The question is, will rehab force her to deal with the things that have triggered her reckless behavior or will she continue trying hard to forget and fade further into the dark.

Jasper Phillips is the kind of guy everyone loves. He comes from a good family, works hard and seems to have it all. Friendly, positive and popular are words people use to describe Jasper regularly. Sometimes what’s on the outside is only what we want people to see, while on the inside we’re battling demons that are too frightening to describe. When those demons manage to catch up to you, the whispers of their world becomes a very inviting place.

Dove doesn’t understand how Jasper fits in at Serenity Lakeview Clinic but something about him calls to her, awakening her desire to feel alive and normal again. As Jasper battles his inner darkness he is drawn to Dove, all the while fearing that if she gets close enough she won't like what she sees. As Jasper struggles to stay in the light, can he help Dove see what she has right in front of her?

Heather is a devoted mother of three gorgeous boys. She balances spending as much time with them as possible with writing, updating her Into the Night Reviews book blog and her day job. Her love of animals sees her home in Canton, GA bursting with numerous dogs and ferrets.

Heather campaigns passionately for anti-bullying initiatives and has a strong conviction to reduce peoples suffering at the hands of bullies.

A talented singer, who once dreamed of pursuing a career in that field, she has put that goal aside in exchange for her writing. A self proclaimed geek, whatever spare time she has is spent curled on the couch reading and listening to music.

Also by Heather The Changing Series (NA) Book #1 - Changing TunesAshley Davis is over her high school 'bitch' label and has decided to reinvent herself. College offers a new beginning, a chance to be different. After being assaulted, she's realized that she needs to change and college is just the place to do it. Nobody knows the Ashley she used to be and she'd like to keep it that way.

Afraid of falling into the same patterns she decides that having no friends, no life and focusing on school is the way to go, but she didn’t bank on someone like Mac as her roommate or the tall, dark and completely geek hot in his glasses, Zeke Whitman.

Ezekiel (Zeke) Whitman is driven and focused when it comes to school. When he's forced to partner with a tall, leggy blonde with a slight attitude, he's thrown for a loop. With so much at stake, Zeke can’t afford distractions and Ashley is certainly that. From their first encounter Zeke sees more than just another gorgeous girl.

As Ashley grapples with leaving the ‘old’ her behind, she realizes that sometimes changing tunes isn't as easy as it sounds. Sometimes you have to keep a little of the person that you were, in order to become the person that you want to be.

Book #2 - Gainers Grace (coming soon)As a former gymnast, the concept of grace is something Mackenzie “Mac” Rivera is very familiar with. Hours upon hours of training, turning out routines that appear flawless to an outsider have allowed Mac to masterfully hide the pain and frustration of falling short of the level of perfection every gymnast strives for. It's a skill she puts to good use when she goes off to college and recreates herself. Moving on from a high school humiliation, Mac is happy with who she is and the life she has laid out before her.

Reece Shaw has it all, or so he pretends to. Too caught up in appearances and maintaining his high school status, he let the one girl that he felt something real for slip through his fingers and he's never forgiven himself for that. In a last ditch effort to put the past firmly behind him, Reece moves away from everything familiar in his life to start anew at college. Sometimes though, the past has an uncanny way of following you where you least expect it and he soon discovers its not always easy to simply start over.

Suddenly faced with a part of her past Mac would much rather forget, she is left with the all too familiar feeling of sliding backwards while trying to move forward; just like the Gainer she could never quite master on the balance beam. Mac's future depends on her leaving the past behind. The question is, can she do that gracefully and with her heart intact?
