There was no elaborate trip out of town.

No spreading of ashes today.

Just texts with our friends, a call to his mother and a four-hour dinner with his sister.

But stepping out of my heels a few minutes ago, I could almost hear Alberto say That didn’t suck.

And you’re right, baby: it did not suck.
