Day #5 - What's The Problem?
All successful podcasts solve a problem. This could be a big problem or a small problem. Regardless, it's important to the people who listen.
If you want to attract listeners to your podcast in a big way, you have to know your problem.
If you want to attract sponsors to your podcast in a big way, you have to know your problem.
Once you know your problem and have a way to solve it, listeners come to you.
Once you know your problem sponsors come to you, provided you know how to explain the problem (and your solution) to them.
That's what this episode is about...

Day #4 - How You Got Here
FUN FACT: Your first podcast isn't usually where you end up.
Similar to the people we date, jobs we work, and places we live, very rarely do we have podcasting success the first time around.
So there's a pretty good chance the podcast you're working on now isn't the podcast you started with, even if the name and topic are the same.
So how did you get here? That's the subject of today's episode of the 30-Day Solo Podcast Challenge.

Day #3 - Because Of Your Podcast...
This is Day #3 of the 30-Day Solo Podcast Challenge.
On the previous episode, the topic focused around a common question every podcaster gets asked, "How did you get into podcasting?"
This episode is about another common question and how to give an answer that will let you tell your story in an entertaining way.

Day #2 - Your Podcasting Origin Story
We've all met that guy with an interesting job and wondered, "How'd he get into that?"
People are wondering the same thing about you.
The reality of working on something is different than the fantasy people on the outside tell themselves. Still, it's good to be able to tell the story of "how'd you get into that."
That's what Day #2 of The 30-Day Solo Podcast Challenge is about. I want to know about your podcasting origin story and how you ended up here.

Day #1 - What's Your Story?
The better you are at telling stories, the more people will listen to your podcast.
In other words:
better stories = more podcast listeners
It sounds simple, because it is simple. However, telling great stories takes practice. So that's where we're going to start the 30-Day Solo Podcast Challenge – you're going to practice telling a story.
Don't worry! Your story doesn't have to be perfect. The story I tell on this podcast is far from perfect. And I have little doubt I'll lose some listeners because of it.
That's how stories work. You attract some listeners, but you're going to lose a few too. But the listeners you attract will be the right listeners.
So listen up, be offended by the subject of my story (or not), and let's get you started on the 30-Day Solo Podcast Challenge.

Podcasting Lessons From Book Narration
I'm on the final stretch of voicing my latest book, Big Podcast, and it's been a great experience. This episode talks about a few of the things I've noticed about my voiceover/hosting skills while doing this project, how I'm working to improve "problems" I've found, and the opportunity you have to improve your podcast by doing book narration.

30 Podcast Episodes In 30 Days (NaPodPoMo)
You may be familiar with NaPodWriMo, or National Poetry Writing Month, is an annual project in which participating poets attempt to write a poem a day for the month of April.
Or NaNoWriMo, National Novel Writing Month.
Podcasting has its own version of this – NaPodPoMo.
This podcast started as part of NaPodPoMo in 2017. It was a fluke, designed as a sandbox for me to work on my solo hosting skills. But I kept at it... And here we are, two years later.
NaPodPoMo is a great opportunity for podcasters to practice needed skills, try new topics, and develop new material.

Audacity On Mac Is Broken – Here's A Fix...
The latest Mac OS, Catalina, broke a lot of software. Unfortunately for podcasters, Audacity is on that list.
The good news is there's a workaround that might get you going until an update is released. It works for some users, not all.
More info on this episode. For additional information about this workaround, see this post on the Audacity forum.

Texas Podcon
A few days ago I mentioned the trend toward smaller podcasting events, including those based around specific demographics, regions, and podcast styles. Smaller podcasting events are actually better than larger events in a lot of ways, so I suggest you definitely take advantage of this trend and the many great smaller podcasting events happening over the next few months.
This month, Texas Podcon happens in San Antonio. Is it the right event for you? Listen to this episode for more details.
