Saturday Spankings – Venetian Love Knots

Celebrate “Read an E-Book Week” and Enter to Win a $15 Gift Card
Join me in Celebrating Read an E-Book Week March 3-9. My new release, Venetian Love Knots is an e-book, and I love reading e-books. I still read the paper ones occasionally, but I read digitally more and more.
I remember years ago when the Kindle first came out and Oprah had it on her “favorite things” list at Christmas time. I wanted one so badly, but it bothered me that it was only in black and white. I read a lot of blogs and I knew I’d want to see them in color. Same with magazines. So I held out and didn’t buy one.
But the instant they announced the Kindle Fire would be in color – I ordered myself one as a Christmas present for myself. Now it’s my favorite piece of technology!
Read an E-Book Week started in 2004 when e-books were relatively new and had a difficult time getting promotion from larger media outlets. Read an E-Book Week educates and informs the public about the joys and advantages of reading electronically.

Sunday Snog with an Italian Flavor
For those Americans who don’t know, a snog is a kiss. (I swear I did not know this six months ago!) But now that I’m well versed in snogging, I can participate in Sunday Snog, hosted by the divine Victoria Blisse. And since Sunday Snog is teaming up with Sneak Peak Sunday, there’s even more fun to be had, more sexy excerpts to discover, more enticing authors to meet!
Today I’m sharing a snog from my new release, Venetian Love Knots. This excerpt is from Allison’s first kiss with handsome Italian art dealer, Nico.
In Venice, Allison Fox will find love in the arms of two men. Her past collides with her future in a battle for her heart. Which one will win?
“I hope you like them,” he said as he presented her with a bouquet of daffodils.
“Thank you, Nico. These are lovely!” Allison beamed and primly kissed him on the cheek in gratitude.
“I have to admit I was hoping for a little bit more than that, cara.” He gave her a light-hearted grin opening his arms for a hug.
“Oh, you were?” she teased. “I’ve heard about you Italian men…” There was a playful note of caution in her voice. “But, okay,” she said as she strode into his arms and locked her hands behind his head, still clasping the flowers, their heady aroma filling his nostrils, and Nico felt her place one of her legs between his as she kissed him hard on the lips.
“Now that was a proper thank you,” he said. He responded by grabbing her and tracing the curves of her hips with his hands while he explored her mouth with his tongue. Damn! Already, he couldn’t get enough of her.

Looking around, Allison was expecting to see another kindly Italian lady, like the sweet one she had met on the plane earlier. She did a stutter step when she saw the man holding the sign that had ‘Allison Fox’ scribbled on it.
Nothing could have prepared her for the tall, handsome man in his exquisite Italian suit, searching the crowd with those piercing dark eyes. She saw him first, but when their gazes met the rest of the world seemed to melt away. He was so handsome, she was drawn to him immediately. She couldn’t quite believe this Adonis with the chiselled good looks was the person who was supposed to be retrieving her.
“Hi, I’m Allison Fox,” she said shyly.
“Oh, so you are Allison then?” The big man grinned happily, giving her a once-over. Judging by his smile, he seemed to like what he saw.
“Yes,” She hesitated, thinking that she probably shouldn’t just go off with a stranger, even if he was a good-looking one…
“I am Nico,” he said. “Nico Vitallini. Alfonso’s cousin. They sent me to pick you up. You are to be Marcia’s maid of honour, in the wedding, no?”
“Yes, I am.” Allison smiled. It was hard not to smile at him. The way he looked at her made her feel as though she was the only person in the entire airport. Her heart beat faster than usual. Were those butterflies in her stomach? Or was she just hungry?
“Come this way and we will collect your luggage. Here, please allow me to carry that for you.” He took her heavy carry-on bag from her hand in one graceful movement. The bag had been weighing her down, yet Nico tossed it around effortlessly. Allison bit back a smile.

1: What is the working title of your book?
My latest completed manuscript is titled “The Knotty Professor.”
2: Where did the idea come from for the book?
I guess from a crush I had on one of my professors when I was in college. No, I never did anything about it, but in this story the heroine acts on her feelings.
3: What genre does your book come under?
Contemporary Erotic Romance.
4: Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
I love this question. When I wrote this, I kept picturing my former professor (I can’t lie). John wears glasses and has a Van Dyke style beard. Ed Norton would be great.
Ed would be a great professor. So serious…
I’d take a class with him. How about you?
I’d definitely choose Ashley Benson from Pretty Little Liars for the tempting co-ed Colette.
She’s young, gorgeous, and sassy.
5: What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
Sexy co-ed seduces her professor and awakens his inner Dominant, opening up a new world of dark desires to them both.
6: Is your book self-published, published by an independent publisher, or represented by an agency?
Currently it’s out on submission with a publisher.
7: How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
I wrote the pivotal scene for this story in a day or two, then I set it aside for a year or more. I wasn’t sure what else to do with it. Then I got the best writing advice I’ve ever received, which was to always finish everything you start. (I’m a terrible procrastinator and always have several WIPs going…) So I picked it back up and finished it in about a month.
8: What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
Hmm. With six kids I don’t have much time to read so I have no idea. Hopefully when they leave the nest I’ll be able to explore my genre further.
9: Who or what inspired you to write this book?
The professor. Though mine wasn’t nearly as sexy as John. And my husband. He inspires everything I write.
10: What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
If you like rope, or bondage, I think you will like this book. I also try to surprise the readers a bit because I like that as a reader myself. Predictability kills stories, in my opinion.

Upstairs, as they tumbled into his room, Cole warned her, “Allison, you are going to have to trust me tonight. Do you think you can do that?”
“Oh, yes!” she cried between his kisses, barely catching her breath.
“Okay, then hold on just a minute, baby. Do you want anything to drink? Do you have to go to the bathroom?” he asked.
“No, why?” she asked, her head clearing a little.
“Because I am going to tie you up,” he said. Then he bit her lip, fondling one of her breasts. Abruptly, he walked away, leaving her standing, shocked.
Allison wasn’t sure she’d heard him correctly. She needed to sit down. Wait, maybe she did need to go to the bathroom. Yes, then she could sit down. And go to the bathroom. Tie her up? Was he serious?
Allison knew Cole, and he didn’t kid around about things like this. What was she going to do? Well, she would let him do it, of course. She let Cole do…anything? That was why he had said she would have to trust him. She did trust him. She trusted him not to hurt her. At least physically. Emotionally, now that was a different story…
Okay, she could do this. It might be fun.
Cole had returned with some white silky ropes and a rakish grin. He looked like he was really going to enjoy this. Maybe a little too much. How long had he been planning this? Did he do this all the time? Allison wasn’t brave enough to ask that last question.
“Are you scared? You don’t need to be scared, babe. I promise I won’t hurt you.” He laughed. “Unless you want me to.”
