3 Motivational Books To Read This Month

There’s nothing I love more than listening to a motivation book that makes my mind spin with ideas. I’ve been pretty lucky lately, this month I’ve been blessed with having read 3 books that rocked my world.

First up is “Carrie Green’s”  She Means Business. Green takes us through her entrepreneurial journey by showing us how she found success through her passion—helping women. Furthermore, she takes on a step by step process on how she organizes her month for ultimate productivity. When I read this book, I couldn’t stop taking notes as new ideas kept speeding past me. She made me realized all the opportunities I'd been leaving on the table, and she helped me understand my brand, both as a writer and as an entrepreneur.  I highly recommend this book to anyone struggling to get organized, focused or simply lost in the direction they should go in their professional arena. I loved this book so much that I decided I would give it away to one lucky reader. Enter your email on the home page to be entered into June’s drawing.

Next is “Mel Robins’  The 5 Second Rule: Transform your Life, Work, and Confidence with Everyday Courage. The idea behind this book is that we make decisions, and, talk ourselves out of said decisions within a 5 second period. Robins takes us on her journey of financial and physical pitfalls all the way through her financial and physical healing, all by applying the 5 second rule.  Furthermore, she goes into detail about the scientific facts that support her findings. Just a little warning here: I loved the concept of the 5 second rule and I’ve started to apply it into my own life, and it WORKS. Applying the 5 Second Rule has helped me avoid procrastination, make difficult pitches and come out of my introverted shell. However, as usual, I listened to this book on audible, but in this case, I didn’t enjoy the narration as much. If you’re like me and you do your reading via audible, I suggest moving this one to physical copy.

Finally, is “Kevin Hart’sI Can’t Make This Up: Life Lessons. In typical Kevin Hart form, this autobiographical book is narrated by Hart himself and makes for an entertaining read/listen. Hart shows us where he started, how he developed his love for comedy and how he overcame setback after setback. Out of all the books I’ve listened to this year, this has been one of my favorites (but I’m a huge Kevin Hart fan, if that counts). If you’ve ever felt like giving up, or like there’s no way you could ever reach your most treasured dreams, then this book is for you.

Have you read any books that totally transformed your life? If so, share it in the comments.

What I Learned Shopping at Our Local Farmers Market

Happy Tuesday!

So, if you’ve been following me for any length of time, you know that I’m on a complete wellness journey--mind, body and soul. I’m constantly learning about the mind and soul, and those opinions vary little. I’m really content in this area because I feel like I’m working on an upward motion, never going sideways. However, when it comes to my body--diet and fitness, sideways is the name of the game.

When it comes to my fitness, I've kind of got it figured out because of my love for yoga  However, when it comes to diet, the more I learn about food, the more confused I become. But, even with that, I'm still following what I often recommend to my readers: I'm following my heart.

My learning about food and health has led me here: To eat mostly plant based, non-gmo, and organic. This is something I’m very comfortable with. I think about everything I put in my body because I want it to be strong and healthy my entire life. I'm not suggesting that everyone should adapt this type of diet (I'm using "diet" in the old traditional form, not in the way we usually think of diet) With that said, this past weekend I did one of my favorite things on Saturday morning and went to our local Farmers Market.

Here I am.

But we were shocked by what we found. My husband and I visited booth after booth and we were confronted with one big problem, none of the fruit or vegetables were organic. Furthermore, we found out that some of the produce being sold came directly from Costco. We found this so strange, not to mention disappointing.

My husband and I like going to farmers markets because we like to support our local farmers, so this was a total shock to us. After our search, we found only one little booth that was "organic": Fleet Garden Installs.  However, after we got home and viewed their website, we didn't see any claim to their greens being organic, but I still love what they do. They are an organization that grows greens, herbs and fruits locally, in the front lawns of people in  our community. Unfortunately, they didn’t have much to offer that day, but what they did have we snatched up because we wanted to support them.  But I literally left the market with two bags.

Anyway, that was my adventure this weekend. How about you? Have you come across these types of problems in your community? If so, let’s talk about it, maybe together we can find a solution to this.

3 Inspiring Women That Will Motivate You

We live in a world where we're constantly bombarded with information and people selling their products, beliefs and services. This sometimes overwhelms us and we end up missing out on valuable information.  With this post I hope to simplify things for you, at least when it comes to your search of motivational speakers. The following are three of my favorite teachers that I often turn to for inspiration.

Gabby Bernstein is a New York Times Bestselling Author and international speaker that has transformed the lives of millions. I first came to learn about Gabby when she was a guest on Oprah’s Supersoul Sunday. Since then, I’ve listened to her books and lectures on platforms like Youtube and Google, where she’s delivered valuable lectures about what it takes to transform your life. She is one that I turn to often when I need a reminder about the true nature of miracles. #spiritjunkie

Lisa Nichols is one of my favorite motivational speakers of today. She's a Bestselling Author and one of the world’s most requested motivational speakers.  Hers, is a true rags-to-riches story. Nichols changed the trajectory of her life when she found herself relying on public assistance and decided that she would never be that poor again. Today she runs one of the few publicly traded companies in her industry, all, while motivating the masses to achieve their goals. She not only changes individual lives, but businesses too. Nichols’ delivery is fun, entertaining, heartwarming and effective. I dare you to listen or read one of her books and not be moved to laughter, tears and then to action. #yesyes

Shannon Kaiser is a Bestselling Author and life coach. I've written about her before in my post How To Find Your Muse, but I would be remiss if I left her off my list, after all, she's one that I turn to on a daily basis. Her message of inspiration is combined with her love of writing and travel. Through her business, "Play With The World" Kaiser offers inspirational messages from the most picturesque destinations in the world. Her Youtube channel is fun and motivating, and each week I can't wait to hear from her, and, see from where her travels have landed her this time.  Her focus is primarily on self-love and acceptance of one self--regardless of what pop culture says.

There you have it, three very inspirational women to follow on your journey to self discovery.

Why Looking for External Approval Kills Your Dreams

I just started listening to “Kevin Hart’s” new book I Can’t Make This Up: Life Lessonsand so far, so good. There are many quotable phrases in the book, but one stood out to me this week: “Stop looking for external approval, when you already have internal approval.”

Perhaps the reason this phrase resonates so much with me is because I often find myself looking for other’s approval.  This pretty much translates to pleasing other’s in an effort to live a guilt-free life. This means that I try my best to not rock the boat in any way, shape, or form—a people-pleaser of sorts. Everyone’s needs come before mine because their approval means more to me than my own internal guide.

However, as I continue to grow and learn, I’ve realized that I no longer want to live like that. I want to release my need for the approval, and to recognize that mine is all I need. Doing this is not easy, for I’ve discovered that it too, comes with its own wave of guilt. Knowing that something is right for you, but it doesn’t play into the plans the others have for you, and still you do it anyway, is a difficult decision to make, but it’s one that must be made if your goal is to live as close to your authentic-self as possible.

When we seek external approval, we’re only trying to smother the inner voice that is trying to move us into our destiny. For example, if you want to start a new business, but this requires you to trust and quit your day-job, perhaps your first thought is to go to others and tell them about your new dream in hopes of finding their approval—your green light. Instead, you’re met with naysayers and all the reasons why you’re crazy for even considering it. So now, instead of listening to that inner voice, you back out of your idea because it’s more important to you that others approve of your choices, than it is for you to listen to your internal calling.

If you find yourself amid such a dilemma, I’m here to encourage you to let your voice be louder than those that fear your growth. Your inner voice derives from love and is always leading you in the right direction. Don’t suffocate it to please others. It’s your life, now go live it—no external approval needed.

Thursday Words: Believe In Yourself Edition

Today, I want to remind you about the importance of staying focused and aligned with your unique purpose. These days, we are constantly accosted by other people's opinion's and dreams, which could cause some confusion within ourselves about our own desires. So today, I'm offering some quotes to remind you that you are uniquely perfect and that no one on earth can do what you can do better than you.

When you find yourself inspired to show the world something that feels good to you, don't follow it by doing research that proves you wrong. Instead, follow that good feeling all the way to its end. Allow it to flourish without other people's influence upon you. Dream and reach for your goals without needing the approval of others. You already have everything you need right inside you!

How Downloads From God Helped Me Understand Creative Expression

Lately, I’ve been having what I believe are, "downloads from God" (Universe, Source) that I can’t quite express with words. It’s more like a feeling—a knowing of a certain thing, and when I try to put the thought into words, I can’t translate it properly. Still, I thought I’d give it shot here.

Today, that thought is Creative Expression.

When it comes to expression, I now think of it differently. For example, I used to look at expression as something separate: I was me, and then, over there, was that thing I created which was separate from me. In my recent ‘downloads’ I see that this is not the case.

Think about it this way, anything that you have in your mind, or rather, anything that you desire, wants to make its way into the world, just like you did at one point. So, once you listen to that inner voice and create that which wants to be expressed, it literally becomes a part of you—just like your arm or your leg. This is why it’s so important to pour love into anything that you express, because after all, it’s a part of you. You should nurture it, speak positively about it and welcome it with open arms.

I encourage you to look at your goals and desires in the same way. Goals and desires are just creative expression trying to live in the world. So, instead of stressing over your goals materializing, bring your expression into the world with love and free of stress. When you pour pure love and energy into everything you desire, you are honoring the creative expression within you, which will ultimately lead to a positive outcome.

1 Tip That Will Transform Your Bad Day Into a Great Day!

So, it’s easy to feel uplifted when everything’s going as planned, right? But what about when things are less than perfect? What about when your health is not great, or when money is not there, or when your relationships are falling apart? What then? Is then the perfect time to dwell on what’s happening and sink deeper into the abyss? Or, is there another option?

Let me begin by saying that when something’s wrong in your life, this is PRECISELY the TIME when you should do everything in your power to feel uplifted. I have, what I believe to be a nearly perfect life. Yet, I’m no stranger to money woes, relationship issues and ups and downs with my health. However, I have learned that the only way to move past my troubles is to want to feel better. When I choose to feel better, I then begin the momentum that moves me out of my troubles and into a state of bliss again.

To get to that good feeling place, I use one principle: GRATITUDE! Though I know it isn’t easy to do when you’re in the midst of it all, it's imperative that you apply this tip if you're serious about wanting to feel better. The following are some of the benefits of incorporating this one tip into your everyday life.

Gratitude:

Nothing, and I mean nothing, will make you feel better than finding something in your life to be thankful for. There are many reasons why this works, but I’ll give you 5:

1: You’re getting your mind off the negative topic, which means, you stop that negative energy from flowing.

2.  Because you’ve stopped the negative energy, you’ve stopped attracting more negativity in your life.

3. Coming face to face with all the wonderful things in your life WILL help you see your huge problem in a different way.

4. You will feel hopeful and find a solution for your problem.

5. You will actually FEEL better, physically and emotionally.

So , do yourself a favor and the next time you’re faced with a hard problem, turn your attention to gratitude and be thankful for everything you have: Your feet, toes, hands, eyes, ears, tongue,  teeth, money, health,  heart, life, partner, family, friends, their health, your home, your car, your shitty job, your great job,  the birds, the trees, the world, GOD.

New Book Announcement! Believe Dammit

I have a few things to share with you. I am in the process of creating a business plan that is going to change everything for me. Although the two novels I’ve released are fiction, my blog has always been about motivating my audience to reach their goals and live out their dreams. For a while now, I’ve been struggling with my brand and felt confused as to how to combine the two: fiction author and motivational coach. Luckily for me, I just finished reading “Carrie Green’s” book, She Means Business and my world has been turned upside down—in the best way. Which is the reason that her book is this month's giveaway!

I’m in the planning stages right now, but the goal is to turn my website into my dream space. Meaning, my website, blog and products will all revolve around this business of changing lives. My mission has always been to share my story of success as encouragement for others: if I can do it, so can you! Now that I have clear goals and direction, I can make this happen.

I am excited to make this transition and to start making a positive impact in people’s lives so that they too can live their most exciting life. So stay tuned for that.

With that said, I am happy to finally introduce to you my new book, Believe Dammit: 10 Principles for Attracting and Creating The Life You Crave, available September 26, 2017. Here’s the cover and synopsis.

JUNE: Three Things to Try This Month

Oftentimes we get overwhelmed by so much information available at our fingertips. We see something we love and want to incorporate into our lives, but with one quick click of the mouse it’s out of our minds and we’re on to the next thing. Therefore, I thought about slowing things down a bit and only give you three simple things to try this month. With having only three things to try for the next 30 days, you’ll have an opportunity to determine if it’s for you or not. So here you are: Three simple things to try this June that will make your life a little better.

Meditation

The practice of meditation is growing among our nation and I’m not surprised at all. Mediation has numerous healing benefits that tend to issues of well-being and illness. It has been linked to curing things like anxiety, depression and headaches, while also correcting our emotional state of mind by releasing stress, creating present awareness and increasing creativity. There are different types of meditations: Guided, Mantra, Mindfulness and Transcendental, to name a few. This month I encourage you to do your research on meditation and then start your practice. Here’s a link to Deepak Chopra’s website, who is a teacher that often teams up with Oprah on providing 21 day guided meditation programs. Most of all, don't make this more complicated then it needs to be. It's all about finding a moment of stillness. You can do this anywhere, without any outside help. All you have to do is decide to take five minutes to yourself and stop thinking about all that you need to do or haven't done. When you do this, you are there, meditating.

Love Life

What do you think your life would like if you suddenly decided that you loved your life? I am 100% certain that your entire life would change. This month, I encourage you to look past your troubles and to start seeing the beauty that surrounds you. No matter what you’re going through, there’s beauty to be found. Focus on what’s right instead of what’s wrong.

Motivate

Now that you’ve centered yourself through meditation and you’re actively looking for the beauty in your life, it’s time to pay it forward. This month try to encourage those around you. Offer a positive word that will help see them through a difficult time. Point them to a place where they can get inspired: A movie. A book. A song. A blog. Stay positive! Make sure you bring them up to your positive vibe, and be sure not to come down to theirs.

In July, I will have three other things for you to try that will help make your month a little happier.

The One Thing You Must Have When Setting Goals

Today I want to talk to you about the importance of clarity. For the last five years I’ve been on a journey of self-discovery—mostly, in my career path.  For the first time since I started this journey, I have clear direction for my career and goals, and I did this by applying these old simple tips: Who, What, When, Where and Why, which = Clarity!

The one thing we must have if we want to achieve our goals is clarity of the desired outcome. For example, if you want to lose weight, it is not enough to say I want to lose weight. You must be clear on what exactly it is that you want to achieve. It would be better if you said this:

I want to lose 20 lbs by July 30, 2017 (who, what, when). I will do this by working-out at my house Monday, Wednesday’s and Friday for 30 minutes (Where). By doing this I will be on my way to a healthier me. I will have lots of energy, feel good about myself and be able to do things I’m too tired to do now (Why).

By getting super clear and specific on your desire, the clutter in your head will disappear, making it easier to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Then, when you get discouraged like we all do, you can return to your statement and not only be reminded of what you want, but why and how you decided you would get it.

For me the clarity came when I asked myself, what I wanted out of my career. By asking this, I got flooded with answers; answers which I then began to dissect further and put into action. By getting super clear on what I wanted out of my career and how I wanted my life to look like, I was able to work backward and create a business plan that would transform my life and the life of many.

To learn more about the effects that this clarity had in my life and how it will translate to you—my audience, be sure to subscribe to my newsletter (monthly newsletter is sent out on the first of each month). In the months to come, I will be offering to my subscriber’s free worksheets and material that will help you reach any goal that you set forth. The worksheets and material will help you get clear on your goals and help you set clear action plans that will make your dreams come true.

If you are tired of life happening to you, and you want to start seeing real results in your life, then be sure to subscribe today! Don’t miss out on getting information that could potentially transform your entire life.
