How to Move Past Negative Thinking (Via 3 Powerful Quotes)

Every now and then I hear a phrase or quote that reminds me that anything is possible. In the last couple days, I’ve been gently nudged by three amazing thinkers of today to remember this. The following are three powerful phrases/quotes that have helped get me out of some negative thinking.

“You will have what you don’t want for as long as you don’t want it.” Neale Donald Walsh

Neale Donald Walsh is a spiritual teacher and the author of book Conversations with God. The above quote was said in a lecture about how to move away from what we don’t want into what we do want. Simply put, it’s all about focus: for as longs as we focus on what we don’t want it will continue to show up. Instead, we should take our focus to anything and everything that brings us joy. For example, if we are struggling with money, the last thing we should be doing is making a list of all the bills we owe, to the point of exhaustion. Instead, we should use distraction as a tool, meaning, find something that removes us from the negative energy of feeling lack, to one of abundance. For instance, if we feel the best when we are playing with our pet, then that’s what we should do every single time negative thoughts begin to litter our brains. By focusing on our furry friend we are emitting positive energy into the world, hence, positive energy will flow back into our life. Often times this positive energy brings forth the solution we need to get out of our financial woes.

“Do you want to be broke and cool? Or do you want to be rich and cheesy? Jen Sincero

Jen Sincero is a #1 NY Times Bestselling author and success coach, whose latest book, You are a Badass at Making Money is life changing. This is where she provided this very insightful quote about how insecurities can be crippling. Most of us are paralyzed with fear and therefore settle for mediocre life. Sometimes the fear is simply being afraid to look ridiculous in front of those that have known us our entire lives. The quote above is a great reminder that we are doing ourselves a disservice when we allow insecurities to choke our desires.

“You don’t need to be great to get started, but you have to get started to be great” Les Brown

Les Brown is a motivational speaker and bestselling author.  This quote speaks about the procrastinator in all of us. We’ve all been there: waiting till it’s just perfect before we make our move. However, this quote reminds us that procrastination is just another form of fear. Perfection does not exist, and the only way to become great at anything is simply by doing it—ready or not.

I hope you found these quotes helpful. If you’ve come across some quotes or phrases that have changed your life, please leave a comment.

Four Inspirational Places to Write (Other than Cafés)

I don’t know about you, but the last place I ever sit down to write is at my desk. I’m not sure why, maybe it’s because on most days, I’m behind a desk from 9 to 5. Nonetheless, I still have to write. So where do I turn to when I want to get down to it and finish my bestselling novel? (wink wink) Well, here are my four go-to spots:

1. Bookstore

Just around the corner from my house is a Barnes & Noble, most of the time, it is the perfect spot because it’s quiet and it provides the perfect atmosphere for writing. What’s better than being surrounded by books and classical music? Nothing!

2. Park

In my city, there are several places where I can go to and be mesmerized by a lake. I like this because I’m in the open air, and there's something about it that transports me to a peaceful space. This usually sets up the perfect mood for activating my senses, which I then transfer onto the page, creating perfect imagery for my readers.

3. The Beach

Ah, what is better than an ocean view? Not many things. If you think there’s no way you can have peace at your local beach, I beg to differ.  No matter where you live, without a doubt there is an area of the beach that is not congested. That is your spot, the one you should return to time again with your computer, beach chair, ice tea (or coffee, depending on the time of year) and let your fingers transport you to the land of imagination, all while digging your toes in the sand and inhaling the ocean breeze.

4. Backyard

Do you have a backyard, a patio, a terrace? Any of these places will do. The trick is in the design. Make a place where you'll want to turn to when you are tired of writing on your bed. If the lawn is too long, then make sure to keep it up. Select a small space in your backyard that you can make your own; add a temporary rug, cushions, lights or even candles. The point is to create an inviting ambiance that will call you out from your old writing routine. Then, allow magic to happen.

There you have it, my four go-to spots to get creative when writing. Do you have a spot or spots that you turn to? I want to know, maybe I'll try them out myself. Leave a comment below to share your favorite spots!

Where to Find History in Florida

I love history, but sometimes I feel that living in Florida means I’m deprived of rich history, like those that reside in any one of our first thirteen colonies. Knowing this is not true, that there is plenty of history in Florida, I decided to immerse myself in some Florida history, beginning with the oldest city in the state, St. Augustine Florida.

1. Castillo anyone?

Castillo De San Marcos is a National Monument located in downtown St. Augustine which is the oldest city in the Nation. The Castillo is the only 17th century military construction in existence today, with the oldest masonry fortress in the United States. You can explore the Castillo on your own, going from one room to another that once housed soldiers and prisoners, then, onto the large interior courtyard and gun deck. Perhaps one of my favorite moments of the tour was when you make your way atop the Castillo, and with full view of the city the rangers lead you on a cannon firing exhibition, instantly you are transported back to the 17th century. The fee is $10 for adults (16 and over) and is good for 7 consecutive days. Kids under 15 are free (with an adult). However, I’ve gone twice and both times have gotten in free because I’ve gone on a national holiday, like Memorial Day!

2. Watchtower

The St. Augustine Lighthouse is located at the north end of Anastasia Island and it’s a must see landmark in all of Florida. Built in 1874, The Lighthouse contains 219 steps and rises 165 feet above sea level. According to some archival records, this lighthouse was placed on the site of another watchtower that was built in the 16th century. Fun fact: the site has a history of paranormal activity which you can learn more about if you take the “Dark of the Moon” tour,   which is put on by St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum. Like always, you can take a guided tour to learn more about the attraction or you can explore it on your own, as I did. General admission for adults is $12.95 and $10.95 for children under 12.

3. Fountain of Youth

Located at 11 Magnolia Ave., in St. Augustine, FL, Ponce de Leon's Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park is the oldest attraction in Florida, with its beginnings dating back to 1565. Guests can enjoy seeing the stars from the park’s planetarium, watch cannon firings, drink from the legendary waters and see if your desire to become, or stay youthful is granted or you can take a stroll through the waterfront outdoor park.  General admission is $15.00 for adults and $9.00 of children 6-12 years old.

There is plenty more history in Florida which I plan to explore. With each visit, I will share my findings with you. If you know of a "must see" historic landmark in Florida, leave a comment so we can all benefit from your travel experiences.

5 Unique Date Night Options in Central Florida

Are you tired of  the same old thing when it come to date night, dinner and a movie? Well, if you are, here are five unique date night options that are sure to get you out of your date night rut.

1 . Disney Boardwalk

Disney’s Boardwalk  is located near the Epcot Resorts at 2101 Epcot Resorts Boulevard, which is off of Buena Vista Boulevard. The Boardwalk is a charming village with superb dinning, distinct shops and a great nightlife.  But, the best part of this destination is that it is FREE.  I have visited the boardwalk many times and perhaps one of the best parts of the visit has been the laid-back pace—which makes for a perfect romantic evening. You can take a stroll along the boardwalk, then, sit at a table by Crescent Lake and watch as the Fireworks from Epcot illuminate the sky.

2. Chocolate Museum & Café

Who doesn’t love chocolate, right? Well, if you or your sweet-heart is a chocolate lover then The Chocolate Museum & Café  is a must see. You must begin with The Chocolate Museum Tour. The experience begins with a taking a tour of all- things-chocolate, where you learn about cocoa and its origins. Then you are transported into the museum that has 25 solid chocolate sculptures of the world’s most known landmarks. Then, into another room you go, where the tasting begins! The tour takes about 45 minutes and there are many different package options to choose from—depending on your budget.  The ‘Wine & Chocolate Pairing’ is $24.99 per person. The ‘Date Night’ $29.99 per person and the ‘Sparkling Time’ is $17.90 per person.

3. The Orlando Eye

The Orlando Eye in the new must-see attraction in Central Florida, located at 8401 International Dr., Orlando, FL.  You can now revel in the best views Orlando has to offer, all from 400 feet in the air. Their Private Capsules are designed for the romantic at heart. There are three different Private Capsule packages to choose from, each includes anything from priority boarding, to champagne, to two 20 minute rotations. This is the perfect romantic evening if you want some alone-time with your sweet-heart, far away from the busy world. Though it’s not free, it’s pretty inexpensive compared to the many attraction in Central Florida; $20 per adult, if you purchase tickets online, or $18 if you’re a Florida resident.

4. Helicopter Ride

How about a helicopter ride with Air Florida Helicopters? They are located at 8990 International Dr, Orlando, FL, and this is thinking out of the box for date night. I don’t know about you, but I don’t have a helicopter in my back yard, so getting the opportunity to see the city in a new way is a hell yeah for me. The best part of all is that it is only $20 per adult (there’s an additional $14 fuel surcharge for each passenger). They too have a lot of different tours to choose from, but this one takes you along an 8 mile journey over Sea Word, Discovery Cove, The Orange County Convention Center, Peabody Hotel, Rosen Centre Hotel and the The Pointe of Orlando Shopping Complex.

5. Hot Air Balloon Ride

Let’s stay up in the air, shall we! Characters in Flight...Operated by Aerophile  is located at Disney Springs and is the world’s largest tethered helium balloon.  The name of the attraction is perfect, as you feel like a Disney character yourself, soaring high in the air through the magic iconic land of Disney World. The ride is about 8-10 minutes long, you have 360-degree views of Disney springs and the tickets are only $20 per person.

There you have it, five unique date night experiences for you.

Till Next Time!

Orlando Florida: More than Just Theme Parks

When most people think of Orlando, Florida they think of Disney World, Universal Studios—or pretty much anything to do with theme park heaven. Given that Orlando is one of the top destinations in the country, you might be planning your own visit, but you might be wondering, is there more to Orlando than just theme parks?

The following are five alternative outings for those who either live in Orlando or are visiting for the 100th time and are looking for something different.

Lake Eola Park is located in the heart of Downtown Orlando. Whether you’re in the mood for a stroll on their .9 mile sidewalk, or you want to explore the park in their swan-shaped paddle boats, you will have a unique experience all the same. Every weekend they hold a special event, from runs that benefit a special cause to welcoming in the new season. But perhaps one of my favorite things about the park occurs on Sundays, the Farmers Market. Lake Eola’s Farmers Market is one of the best in central Florida, spotlighting the freshest of fruits and vegetables to unique art.

Looking for something to do during the weekday? Well look no further than Popcorn Flicks in the Park.  Popcorn Flicks in the Park shows films on the second Thursday of each month in the charming town of Winter Park at Central Park. All you have to do is bring a blanket and a picnic basket and you’re set to enjoy a classic film under the stars. Best of all, it’s free.

In the mood for some outdoor activity, then you must check out Kelly Park, Rock Springs located in Apopka, FL. Feel free to take a dip in the free-flowing natural spring, or, set up for camping, or go for a long hike on their 245-acre property.  The park has plenty of recreational activities that will keep you busy all day long, both wet and dry.  Admission is only $3 per vehicle of 1-2 people; $5 per vehicle of 3-8 people.

Every Saturday between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. you can count on Winter Parks Farmers Market to deliver the best of produce and plant market in the city. The market is held at the old train depot that has been restored into a historical landmark. Come for breakfast and enjoy delicious pastries, bagels and fresh brewed coffee inside the historic building, or indulge from any of the Food Trucks that surround the market. Either way, your tummy will thank you.

Looking for some night life entertainment? This unique outing might be what you’re looking for. On the 2nd Thursday of each month gather at Thornton Park District for Wine + Art Walk, #DowntownForGrownups.  Here you will celebrate art, while indulging in music, shopping and taste tasting along the lines of restaurants. There’s a $15 fee (sorry no credit cards accepted) which gets you a glass and a map of 25 business that will be offering you tasty tasting along the way. Take the night way while listening to DJ’s, mingling with others alike, and shopping at the different vendors.

There you have it. Five different fun activities to enjoy while living or vising Orlando, FL.

Till Next Time

Stuck in Life: Three Steps That Will Help Get You the Results You Need

Have you ever cooked something using certain ingredients only to hate the outcome? But then, you try it again—same method, same ingredients only to end up with the same result as before, you hate it! Let me ask you this, how many more times will you do this, in the same way, until you finally realize, hmm I don’t like this as is, I need to change something!

As I see it, navigating through life is much like this. Let us say you are trying to be successful, to reach certain heights in your career, yet you’ve made little progress. Could the reason be that for years you’ve been using the same ingredients? Friends let me, through Tony Robbins, be a beacon of light if only for this moment, “if you do the same thing you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.”

If you are struggling to get to that next level and you can’t seem to break free from the shackles of disappointment then it’s time to take a different approach. This approach doesn’t have to be something difficult, or costly. It just needs to be different. Remember, work smarter not harder. I know people that work 16 hours a day and they still feel like they aren’t moving.

In order for you to get moving, to stop chasing your tail, here are three simple action steps this week:

Change at least one thing you do in your business dealings. If you send out 100 emails a day trying to drum up business, then maybe pick up the phone and call 50 new potential clients (just an example, this may not be ideal for your type of business). This, is doing something different (different ingredient will get you a different result).

Make a daily to do list and make sure that at least one item is something new, something you’ve never tried before.

Have a cut off time. Working long hours, without some down time, will only burn you out. Walking away from your business for a certain period of time will allow creative ideas to flow providing the much needed change you seek.

My goal in life is to have every single person wake up each morning excited for the day ahead. To live a happy, purpose driven life. This is why I created this blog in the first place. I wanted the same thing for myself. For the last five years I’ve learned methods and strategies that has helped move me in the direction of my dreams, and each day I get closer to living my perfect day. A day filled with sharing posts like this, earning a satisfying living from my writing and changing lives.

I hope you do try these tips and that you find much success in them.

As a side note, in case you didn’t know, I am also the author of two fiction novels: More Than Words Can Say and Falling For You. You can visit the “book” tab for more information or visit Amazon, they are both available on paperback and kindle!

Eye Product Took Years Off My Eyes

I’m so excited to share this special blog with you today. As my career takes off and I have to attend different events where photos are taken, I’ve grown more and more aware of my skin. So when I received the Non-Surgical Lifting Syringe Luxury Skin Care by D’OR24K to review, I was more than willing. I was really excited to receive this product because in all the reviews I’d seen prior to receiving it; the results had been pretty incredible.

So after trying the product a few times, these were my findings.

First I’ll start by saying that I’m 43-years-old and have minimal wrinkles, but have noticeable bags around the eye area; therefore, I’m always looking for products that promise to lift, which is exactly what D’OR24K Non-Surgical Lifting Syringe promised it did.

This is the packaging for the product:

This is what the product promises to do:

• Tightens pores within 60 seconds of application

• Visibly reduces bags and fine lines

• Instant, on the go lifting and plumping

• Designed for a special occasions

And, this was 100% true. I found that within 60 seconds it lifted my skin, reduced most fine lines and lifted the area around my eyes.

However, there were things I didn’t particular care for: first, the price tag. This is a $650 product, which for me is super expensive. Second, when using the product you can’t use liquid foundation at all, you can only apply powder. For me this is a problem because I don’t like, or use powder.  Also, the results are not permanent, so it’s not like you’re improving your lose skin or fine lines, this is only temporary. The results are meant to last for 6 to 8 and then you turn back into a pumpkin.

So, if you’re looking for a more permanent product, something that is actually working daily to improve or reduce bags and fine lines, this product is not that. But, if you are looking to look good for a photo shoot, or a night out on the town, this product will definitely reduce bags and fine lines and lift.

If you would like to try the product yourself you are in luck because I have a 25% exclusive discount coupon for you. To redeem visit https://www.deor24k.com and enter code PROMO25.

To purchase the product visit https://www.deor24k.com/collections/dor24k-prestige/products/non-surgical-lifting-syringe.

What you Expect, Shall Be

Go with me for a moment. Have you ever uttered the phrase, “I told you so.” Sure you have, we all have. The unfortunate thing about this phrase is that it’s usually attached to a negative outcome. However, let me assure you that saying, ‘I told you so’ does not only apply to certain moments of your life, it applies to your entire life.

Whether you know it or not, your entire life is occurring because you have a belief about every single thing that pertains to living. Because of those beliefs, you have certain expectations. Well, those expectations show up in your life—for better or worse—to prove you right (aka known as ‘I told you so’).

What if you were to change your expectations on any given subject. For example, let us take an argument you’re having with someone, an argument you’ve had many times before. Your quarrel may include the following words: always and never.  By placing these words in your argument, you are merely functioning from a past experience, and you’re expecting a certain behavior from this person, and what you expect, shall be. Without a shadow of a doubt, the outcome will be the same, proving that you were right, satisfyingly saying, ‘I told you so!’

So how do we avoid such trappings? Well, recognition is key when it comes to making any positive change in our life, so good job on taking that first step. Next, take a different approach in the argument. Listen, acknowledge and try to resolve it from a new place, not from a place that you’ve at before. Because remember, if you try to resolve it from a that same old space you will end up with the same feelings, which will produce the same outcome. It’s a vicious cycle. Though it could be difficult, while in the middle of the argument, do something you’ve never done before. This will start shifting the outcome into a new direction. Do this until the argument is over, then, expect something different this time.

This rule applies to anything that has expectations attached to it. For instance, ‘when I eat broccoli I get sick.” Or, you can say, “when I eat broccoli I get energy.” “When I sleep late I always get a headache.” Or, when I sleep late I feel refreshed. “When I exercise I always hurt my back.” Or, “when I exercise I always feel stronger.” When I _______, I always or I never.” EXPECTATIONS!

The one thing you need to remember is that you have control of the life you create, trust and believe that you do. So why not? Expect something different, you have nothing to lose, expect for an outcome you didn’t want in the first place.

As a side note, in case you didn’t know, I am also the author of two fiction novels: More Than Words Can Say and Falling For You. You can visit the “book” tab for more information or visit Amazon, they are both available on paperback and kindle!

How to Feel Fear and Still "Do It" Anyway

Let’s talk for a moment about fear. Do you have fears that are holding you back? Is there something that you should or want to do but you are paralyzed with fear? This weekend I heard the most inspirational lecture by Lisa Nichols about fear .

Nichols ,reminds us that fear sometimes is a part of us, and that sometimes fear won’t leave us entirely, but that we must take action ANYWAY!

Do you know what happens to most of us when we allow fear to consume our lives? Usually, it prevents us from moving forward. Though we are standing at the edge of the cliff, acting as if we’re getting ready to leap into our destiny, we never do. We stay in the motion of ‘acting.’ We come up with excuses—reasonable ones of course, excuses that we’ve come to believe as facts: After the kids graduate, then I’ll. After I finish school, then I’ll. When I earn more money, then I’ll. “After” and “when” become that chain that binds us, preventing us from actually going for it.

What if for a moment, you were to behave as if every moment of your life, every single day, was determining the outcome of the following day. What if by fighting through that one fear, you were able to move mountains, and reach that ‘unreachable scary dream?” Would you leap?

I am in the process of working through my own fears, fears that I’ve had since I was a little girl. My fear is public speaking, or being in front of a camera. But I know that for now, in this technology-driven-world that we live in, writing a book and hoping that people stumble upon it is not enough. If I want people to know about my books, then the best way to do so is to stand in front of an audience and share it.

I know that I’m not alone, as most writers are introverts like me. The only way for me to move past this, is to realize that this is less about my promoting my book, and more about overcoming a fear that I created. Just as I created a shy, introverted persona, I can create a confident one.  One day, I hope that people fall in love with my books and the stories that I’ve written for them, without needing my marketing tactics behind it, much like J.K. Rowling. But for now, the goal is to overcome my fear, one day at a time.

Will you do that same? Will you take one fear, big or small and leap? I hope you do. Remember, what you do today, determines your tomorrow.
