Marlon Brando memoir

I wasn't sure what to expect, but whatever I was expecting from Marlon Brando's memoir was blown out of the water when I read it. What an interesting book! He's sensitive, philosophical, self-aware, and charming. Check it out here!

Fun Melodramas

As you probably know, my favorite genre of novels is the melodrama. They're wonderful escapism, fit in well during any time of year, and provide all the excitement I don't want to live through in real life. Check out the latest three I've read by three masters of the genre:
Master of the Game  (Sidney Sheldon)
The Betsy (Harold Robbins)
The Last Chance (Rona Jaffe)

Kirk Douglas memoir

I've had a copy of The Ragman's Son for years and finally carved out the time to read it - it's a "chunker"!  Check out my review of Kirk Douglas's memoir here if you're alright with shattering his image a bit. If you'd prefer to think of him as a tough guy, just come back tomorrow for more book reviews.

Happy Birthday! (and free gifts)

Happy 8th birthday Hot Toasty Rag!  (I can't believe I have an eight-year-old child.) This has been such an incredible experience for me, and I hope you've enjoyed it too! Is there any Star of the Week you'd like to see honored? Let me know in the comments, and I'll see if I can squeeze in your request in the second half of the year.
Now for the gifts:
In case any of you have wondered why I haven't posted about any novels I've written recently, it's because I have a new job. I'm an audiobook narrator - oh, the twists and turns of life. Once the book is available on Audible, I'm given some "promo codes" as a thank-you. So, as a thank-you and birthday gift to all of you, I'm going to list the books I've done, and you can let me know if you'd like to listen to one for free! The red links will take you to the Audible page so you can check out the story and listen to the preview - but don't purchase them. Send me an email or let me know in the comments if you'd like one and I'll "gift" it to you for free.
Lynne  & Hope - a sassy British whodunnit with a paraplegic heroine
Waiting Among Roses - an English "bodice ripper" romance novel with a twist
While the Coin is in the Air - a complex Women's Fiction about following your dreams
The Time Traveling Lunchbox - a middle-grade story about two kids who travel through time

The first two I did were "internships" before I built my home studio, so the quality isn't that  great, but if the subject matter interests you, then let me know.
Ashes & Echoes - a supernatural novel of self-discovery for a witch who balances her magical life with the mundane
What If They Couldn't Push My Buttons? - a humorous self-help book about stress management

Books by their covers

You’re not supposed to do this, but I think it’s perfectly acceptable to judge a book by its cover. After all, the publishing house’s marketing team spent a lot of time, money, and research to figure out which cover design would most appeal to the target audience. Here are some books with beautiful covers – and they turned out to be really cool on the inside, too!

The Next Star

Jessica Lange's week has come to a close, and all 28 of her reviews are now posted to her page. Here's your next clue:
Jessica Lange starred in a lot of remakes, didn't she? Next week's star was her leading man in one of them. He's an icon with three Academy Awards!
Leave your guesses below (although it should be pretty easy, since how many men have three Oscars?) and come back on Monday to find out if you're right.
